whatever judge judy read in those text messages either wasn't enough to prove the defendant vandalized the car or they convinced her that the ex boyfriend was actually doing something terrible and she isn't getting involved by issuing a judgment.

Basically the whole thing was a scam. Meaning, the show pays the winner, loser gets hated by the people, the amount asking for of $5000 was FAR to much. the Value of the BMW was 5 times more than what the sister bought the car for and even if the repairs for the vehicle was done, it wouldn't be close to the $5000. It's like, they wanted free money somehow.

If you pause on the screenshots of the texts, the defendant texted the plaintiff saying that the plaintiff had smashed the windows on "her" BMW and that's probably why the defendant vandalized the plaintiff's car, in retaliation. So I guess JJ considered it a wash because the plaintiff and her cousin started all of it.

Idk about any other state but NY and NJ won’t register a car you bought without a bill of sale. My mom gave me her car and when I went to register it I had to provide a bill of sale for $1 lol with my mom’s signature. So even if she paid cash, there should be a BOS or a bank withdrawal for $500. I don’t think the judge believed she bought it
