    This is absolutely brilliant. I'm a international level fencer, and I'm seeing how assisted speed exercises could help me reach a higher top speed over the ground, while resisted work can help my CoD and the explosion into a lunge. Thanks so much for all this, and for everything else you're doing. I'm following it all! Bring on more speed videos.

    There are some things here we all need to pay attention to. I followed Dr squat and his Compensatory acceleration. Fred Hatfield was one of my heroes. It doesn't seem to help much getting through the sticking point but helps make you continue to push or accelerate when the leverage becomes better. I'm 83 and still practice this. Now we use bands or chains to make the entire RM resemble the sticking point. Your videos are the best to stay on top of the latest research. I thank you.

    Only really got here via hypertrophy and strength, but you explained these concepts to where I'm sure this will stick due to understanding and not just memorization. I am super interested in all the content now. Awesome to understand this so quickly I wish they went over this in track back in the day my motivation would have sky rocketed

    I think a question that many people might wanna know is how can we jump higher? There are A LOT of videos out there about jumping but none of them are exactly scientific. The day you make this video, is my happy day.

    Question for ya: What if you have limited availability to this type of equipment? Are there certain drills that can be done with no equipment at all that still can be beneficial?

    • @FINDINGFITNESS101
      @FINDINGFITNESS101 Před 5 lety +2

      If you have absolutely no equipment, then plyometrics (with push ups-pull ups etc) can illicit the same type of nuero muscular recruitment. Resistance bands for example are very cheap and easy to get, so why not buy some of those and use them for the same purpose?

  • @BlobsVG

    So theoretically if you wanted to train your striking speed, lets say for a punch, would using a band to pull your hand *away* from you actually be a reasonable exercise? Assuming you aren't tearing your rotator cuff in the process lmao.

    My only thought about a coach aiding you with top speed running is what do you do when you run 100 meters in under 10 seconds, how do you aid top speed then?
    you would be to fast for a coach or buddy :/

  • @ANGRYGREEKMANYO
    @ANGRYGREEKMANYO Před 5 lety

    You mentioned how lifting weights explosively is still bad for punching due to having to slow down at the end. So would the age old throwing a medicine ball technique be good for speed and power then, and ideal?

    • @nicksavov5027
      @nicksavov5027 Před 5 lety

      I would assume it depends on the weight of medicine ball and the athlete's ability to produce enough force to cause it to accelerate until it leaves the fingertips.
      If you're throwing it up, you're going to have gravity to work against and if the athlete can't produce enough strength for the ball to accelerate, there won't be acceleration throughout the movement. Young athletes in particular would have difficulty.
      If you're throwing it down, there will always be the acceleration through the movement.

  • @ANGRYGREEKMANYO

    Why would your body get stronger in order to jump faster or stronger and why would ure body need to adopt if you use bands especially during box jumps though?
