- Isaiah Austin has had one of the most interesting journeys to playing pro basketball. From a retina tear in middle school that ultimately left him blind in his right eye, to being the #3 High School player in the nation, to a shoulder injury after his freshman year to being diagnosed with Marfan Syndrome just says before the 2014 NBA Draft.
It's been a little over two years since that diagnosis that has kept him from playing professional sports. After close monitoring, his doctor has cleared him to play the game he loves once again.

God made a plan for him and he is taking the opportunity he was given. What a story.

Rooting for Isaiah for sure. Don't know how long he'll be able to live his dream, but even if he plays just 1 game he will be off just fine. He's got a great heart, faith, and a good head on his shoulders to continue to do big things on and off the court.

This is a great story about an amazing person. Isaiah Austin is an inspiration. I was lucky enough to interview him for Sports Illustrated Kids at the NBA Draft this year. I am so happy for him and can't wait to see him back on the court.

We have the same doctor. Dr. David Liang is absolutely amazing! I'm not tall I'm only five foot nine and 160 lb I've always been thin but not bony then like most I actually have curves.. I have no clinical findings only genetic testing other than dislocated lenses which I had corrected with surgery and now I have artificial lenses. I do not have long fingers and toes or disproportionate limbs. I do not have any physical features of marfan's. I do not have an enlarged aorta either. Its within normal range. My daughter who is 12 was also diagnosed with Marfan after birth (I was diagnosed at age 5 bye the lenses of my eyes) and she too has no clinical findings and No aorta enlargement only dislocated lenses in which she will have surgery for once she passes puberty in a couple of beers. Iam 37
