I need to have a calculator as part of my camera bag now just to have sharper photos. My bag already weighs 12 lbs. yikes
I used to think that but honestly the more u shoot the more natural it becomes choosing speeds, & I totally agree with this vid - if u can double it without requiring too much iso it's always worth it especially 100mm & up.
use the new smallrig shutter speed calculator accessory with cold shoe mount
You should really be able to double numbers in your head pal. If not set your shutter speed to the same as your focal length and go one stop faster shutter speed
I can. I commented this more as a joke
@@AlexChavezPhotography ah fair enough, hard to judge tone in a text comment!
It seems like you're just applying noise reduction to your "after" photo.
This is the third video about how you should set your shutter speed at various focal lengths. Like, ok, we get it!
Important information is worth repeating.
@@AnthonyGugliotta Yeah, but you aren't repeating it because it's important, you're repeating it because you've gone out of information that you can give, but you still need your content to be daily.
I’m very new to photography and this is a new concept to me. So I’m grateful for the info even if it’s a review for others.
@@mateleberdon’t need to be a prick about it. Just watch another video.
The rule was as a lowest end rule, 2 times is the default.
I always set the preferd speed to 1/250 (not sure what the name is but I layed this function on Fn menu, Sony a7 IV). Then ISO Auto and A mode. So I set the aperture manuelly and thr camera tries to use 1/250. If very bright it goes even faster SS if darker it goes down in ss. Very easy. Flash of course also helps to get a sharpness bump but not usefull all the time of course
Anothet thing to consider is movement of your subject. So many times I have had the case where I can see that my kens movement was indeed frozen; so enough shutter speed not to introduce shakyness blur. But my subject moves much faster thab I expected.
Good point. Faster moving subjects often require faster shutter speeds!
I thought 1/(2 x focal length) was the default rule 😄
Well it is, but it depends, if your lens is stabilized and if you have a really stiff hand, you could get below that value as shutter speed.
Anthony please some video on F8 to F16
I took some pictures they were amazing but need your opinion on it …
Thanks
Just wish i had a camera to shoot with.
Or use a stabiliser and know how many stops of stabilisation it offers and just experiment.
I can easily shoot at 1/200 at 400mm with out any camera motion registering. Hell even handheld at 1/100 when really stable.
Thank you again
Am good student and you good teacher 😅
Well,,, the distance to your subject also plays a roll on how fast your SS NEEDS to be - the closer you are you can get by with less and naturally the farther the faster it might need to be and whether you're on a tripod or not -- static or moving subjects, sooooo many other things to consider before you consider the focal length of your lens as a rule to choosing SS -
When you zoom it with a close subject it needs to be faster when they move.
If the subject is small in frame and you're all the way zoomed in with stabilisation you don't need as high of a shutter speed because of the apparent motion relative to the frame in a given time.
Yooo Anthony I'm getting a telephoto lens for my eos 1500d,/rebel t7. What should I get? (For a budget of 200usd)
Ive never heard of that "rule" before. Why don't you talk about the inverse square law instead? That there's an inverse correlation between shutter speed and aperture. The bigger aperture, youre using, the faster shutter speed you need to get a sharp image.
Bro turn on ibis, shoot -2.5 are you noob?
Won't the pic be very dark?😮
Yup it will but if you are using a Speedlite or have any light source, you can compensate.
No… you just match it by adjusting your aperture and or iso, you exposure doesn’t change. It will only become dark if you are the extremes. Just check with the meter that is built into every modern camera.
Or a Canon. 😂
Lol the camera goes to 1/8000 try it out sometime it’s dope
That is wayyyy more than you need in most cases.
2nd comment.Great content keep it coming!

Can you give me this camera as a gift because I can't buy this camera at such a price, because I belong to a very poor family, so I can't buy it (photoGraphy) If I live, I will have my own Studio, even though I have a Nikon 7200, I have this treasure. It's a big dream, it's just a dream and it's painful😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢
