  • SSK005 Week 3 - movement teardown! ! All the answers about the new GMT movement, lubrication, changes, tech, and first impressions.
PSA: This video contains sub-optimal levels y microphone so if you can hear anything count that as a win. Even if that "anything" is tuneless humming. I did pump up the volume though. YMMV if you choose to blow part of your life on this. No Refunds. Enjoy!

The Only teardown of 4r34 on youtube .. my GMT hand got stuck between indices of the dial and that video really helped me out with fixing it .. thank you so much 🌹♥️🌹♥️

It's been ages since we've seen you tear down a movement. Thank you for letting us see this. It's very unusual to see a new movement torn down. Can't wait to see the reassembly.

Wearing the Mikan orange and loving it. It is well within tolerances so far but no oven cleaning. Got the black one too. So cool to see the breakdown. Thank you.

Wow! I am impressed with the quality and design of this new movement; however, not so much with the lubrication application. If I didn't already have too many watches this would be in my collection. Thank you so much for documenting this breakdown. Take care.

"too many watches"?!? I'm reporting your channel to CZcams for common sense, balanced thinking and communism. >:-(

Spencer- My SBSC003 arrived two weeks ago from Tokyo, and I was SO excited until I wound it up, set the time and wore it for the day. I discovered it was losing about a minute a day (confirmed on my Timegrapher) AND, more importantly, the blue GMT hour hand was off by 2-3 degrees. It has since been returned to Tokyo for warranty repair by Seiko Japan.

Pallet fork lubrication would ruin timekeeping but increase durability and longevity as beater ?? Is that what you mean ?!

I cannot see any major difference with an NH36. The only differences are the minimal required to convert the day mechanism into a GMT function... all in all, just a 30USD movement, like all the rest of NH3x movements.
I have to admit, the clutch in the GMT wheel to allow independent setting is neat... but it is not the entire GMT function driven by the plastic intermediate calendar wheel in white? Dont like that, it seems cheap and nasty.

I was thinking the same thing. 'The Crunge'!! Leave it to Spencer to randomly quote one of the most obscure Led Zeppelin tracks. It's not like he was even humming the melody or anything, but quoting the bizarre spoken word ending part. Brilliant!

Sabrina is a HUGE Zep fan and she says she never liked the song and was only barely aware of it.

@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch LOL! Even Zep die-hards struggle with this one. A funky James Brown tribute played in the bizarre 9/8 time signature? Sabrina: "I can't even dance to this! I hate this!" ... Spencer: "But this is so unique and interesting! It's like the ammonite of white boy funk!" :)

@@SpencerKleinVintageWatch 😊 Makes me think to years back when I learned to play When The Levee Breaks with a slide. I was so pleased with myself I played it as soon as one of my buddies came over. His reply was "what was that"...and I was crushed 😂

Do you think they lubricate the pallet fork to because it could help less broken parts here wich would cause more return under warranty? Would make sense if you sells thousands a year economically. Wich in return will explain why they still quote high accuracy range acceptable as you said lubrication here causing low amplitude and higher range of deviation than entry level swiss movement?
