Robbie. The best way to look at someone welding without a proper shield is to look at it through your phones camera. 🙏
I'm assuming you can oxy weld and braze. If you do those you can TIG weld since it's the same basic process just with a different heat source.
It's easy they have this little thing that looks like a soldering iron but it's an engraving gun it works like a miniature air hammer
Wait until you turn 50 and you've used your hands for hammers your whole body work career you just think your hand shakes now
So neither you or hillbilly we're watching what Kevin did with the gun
So awesome!
Much Respect to Matt, Mrs. Jamie and the crew 💪❤️
BombBee is going to be sweet like honey!
I've taken a few of my projects for Kevin to powder coat... wouldn't have known about them if it hadn't been for you. They've always done a GREAT job and the girl at the front desk is really nice.
She sounds really nice
Kevin and crew, thanks for letting us watch the process. I knew the theory but never saw it done. Thanks for letting us follow along.
My wife has the same “cup problem.” She has enough Stanleys and Yetis for almost every day of the month. Literally an entire cabinet in the kitchen full of them. I have 2 $12 plastic copco coffee cups I have used for years (currently drinking my coffee from one while watching this). They last 5-6 years til I drop it hard enough and crack the lid, then I’ll buy a replacement.
Correct hand position is one at 12 o’clock and the other around Boss 😀 Thanks guys for sharing! Crazy the amount of work powder coating is! Wrap looks Great! Take care and have a great week!
I agree with this
Only if Robby is the driver 😁😊
I thought it was 12 o clock and other hand on "your shifter" going through the gears🤣
Speaking from experience, if you get in an accident with your hand at 12, you WILL punch yourself in the face really really hard when the airbag goes off. It hurts.
Thanks for showing us how the powder coating works. Kevin seems to be getting used to you throwing a camera in his face - lol.
The new hand position standard is 9 & 3. Safer because of the airbags and facilitates the use of shuffle steering. Shuffle steering is now taught as opposed to hand over hand.
9 and 3 might be where you are from but here in Canada it is 8 and 4
@@Thom1973it's 9 and 3 in Australia
@@35manning Thats kool
Dr. Pepper says it's 10, 2, and 4.
And don't hook your thumbs
Thank you for scanning names!!! I saw mine and it was very nice to be honored is such a way! @ 33:05 Duane Treat
I've always been a TREAT to everyone I meet!
My chest congests just watching that 🤪 Pretty cool that Kevin and his team let you guys come in and do some of the work. I really liked how Kevin walked us through the process.👍😎🇺🇸 Merry Christmas 🎄🎁🎊🎉
Powder coating is a big process. Super cool they let you come up and have a hand in it. Wrap looks awesome on the truck! Thank you so much for showing all the names and for sharing
Love the new wrap on the truck looks awesome and thanks for showing all the names…. My membership was a gift and to see my name and my service dog Georgia’s on there made my day thank you
Kevin's got a badass shop but time to invest in a good dust collector system for his blasters. I have one on mine and when blasting seeing inside the cabinet is no different than seeing outside of the machine. It'll save him crazy amounts of time.
There are hoses underneath and what looks like some kind of vacuum behind them, so they probably didn't turn it on..
You are one lucky man ❤ Demri is the type of girl that you can't have just one lol I would be addicted too❤
Hillbilly is correct. Hand position is 4 and 8 so that when the airbag blows it doesn't break your arms.
This is the correct response. The main reason for the change is so you don't have two broken arms.
I had an accident in a Ford van and getting hit with an air bag is not fun at all damn near broke my glasses knock the breath out of me for some time too THANK GOD I didn't break my ribs again nothing worse then breaking your ribs
Your wound is healing nicely. Def better than superglue and electrical tape.
A real professional with powder coating. Learned a lot. I have contracted to have stuff power-coated for the military. Learned a lot.
I’m so happy to see my name as an elite section on the On X Off Road truck !
Got On-X because of you guys and love it, also found my name! Keep up the good work, plan on bringing you guys a classic car to paint in the next couple years
Excellent, I learned a lot about powder coating and why I wasn’t getting the product I wanted from my local coaters. I gave up and went back to the paint booth.
Awesome to see my name on the truck. 30:32 👍
The hand position is where the turn signal and wipers switches are. On older card, the switches were more upward, that's why the 10 & 2 position. On newer cars, they are lower, mostly at 9 & 3 (also to facilitate shuffle steering)
It has all to do with the air bags deployment.
I scanned the QR code right from the video...WORKED!!!
Colton is a great addition to the channel! Great video!
To add to Kevin, most modern guns have auto-variable KV adjustments. Set it to 80KV and forget it. Also, watch shaking the gun, you preheated the part for better transfer and any spit will not blow off as the powder will already start to cure. I typically only preheat metal that will not hold a charge for that reason, but the Faraday effect makes corners hard if you have the flow jacked up. Epoxy, I would typically start with the corners and let the flat surfaces get painted via overwrap, laying out about 3 mills on flats and 2.5 mills in corners. Coating/Curing it once. 15 minutes at 435 (or whatever the coating recommended). If heat was the method of transfer, then 3 to 4 times depending on what the mill reader was telling me. (Nordson certified, 15 years experience, 10y commercial, 5y job shop). I like it when you guys go see Kevin, I miss coating. IT Guy now and have been for 17 years. (yes I'm old).
The Stanleys.. so many Stanleys. I feel it Robby.
you mentioned 7 and 5, this is because if you get involved in a collision, and the air bag deploys, with your hands up higher on the wheel, you punch yourself out, as it hits your fore arms, LIGHTS OUT !!!
Would you like a pat on the back 😂😂😂😂 genius 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
Cap. It's smacking your head off the bag that knocks you out. Hyperbole much?
OK is that a joke or actually true? I laughed way to hard at that
I love my onX ive been using it since May. Has helped me from getting lost in the Oregon dunes several times.
Family time is priceless! What an adventure, and the views were beautiful!
It's just 12 with the right hand like an O.G. lol
Obviously there’s a lot more to your shop than what we see on your channel. I don’t know about anyone else, but I think it would be cool to see a tour of your entire shop and your other employees that keep your business rolling while you work on your channel and special projects.
Robbys shop is really well set up and equipped. And every one of his crew that I've interacted with have been super pleasant. He knows how to get some top notch people!
I use to build the M2 Hoods for the Freightliner trucks at Molded Fiber Glass my mom has been there for 35 years now she was there when the M2 model came out and we are the only plant with the hood mold so that means that your trucks hood came from Morganton North Carolina, that's so cool I didn't know your truck was an M2 until just now
The best steering wheel position is Twenty minutes to Four . . . avoids the SRS, and relaxed arms makes for a relaxing drive.
Hell yeah!!!! I’m on the truck!!!!!
Awesome video! Thank to the shop that has done the powder coating! Thanks for sharing! 😊
Thank you for sharing the powder and epoxy always fun to watch this happen
I remember walking inside the oven with a flashlight to inspect products. Amazing how long a person can withstand that kind of heat.
Great video. Colton is a natural talent for your channel. He’s friendly and presents himself without any nonsense when explaining what he’s doing.👍
I love seeing the process! Sandblasting is amazing. Hillbilly is still being a tool. Some things don't change.
It's 9 & 3. That's what I've always done that felt most comfortable and safe...even back when they used to say 10 & 2! 😀
Amaziing stuff! Love the wrap!
The Bombi is looking good. The truck with all the names on it turned out great.
Man I never tire of listening to professionals.
Gday guys
Saw my name! Woot! Truck looks great!
Robby Layton The Great 😅👍
Found me and Keira! Yay!
Can't wait to see the Bombi when it's done! Thanks for sharing the process!
That was good to show how to do . Thanks Keven and Robby
Hand position on the steering wheel is now 3 & 6. This is the best place to have your hands/arms of the airbags employ. Airbags sometimes create burns on the arms as the debris comes out of the steering wheel.
I have had OnX for a couple years so sorry I couldn't be apart of it but OnX rocks we love this app specially for hunting or you know off road out-of state driving lol.
That power coating turned out awesome. You can never have to many mugs Stanley or Yetti lol we all have our addictions lol could be worse ha ha 😂😂🎉🎉🎉❤
Awesome video Robbie and crew.♥♥♥.
Robbie, thanks for SHINING!
Great video, I’ve never seen the powder coating process done.
I did see my name on the truck❤
Great vid! I'm always impressed by...what would one call it? A UTAH attitude. Friendly, professional, respectful, compassionate, and being just plain good folks. It was evident in March at Sand Hollow! Loved meeting you all and you all are the real deal! Blessings and Merry Christmas!!!
it's 9:45 and 10:15. That gives you an extra half hour to get to wherever you're going
Good morning Robby i like the truck the wrap came out incredible. Seeing the powder coat process was definitely a fun experience to watch the process being done
Experts at the National Highway and Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) now recommend 9 and 3 - on opposite sides of the wheel halfway up - as the ideal steering wheel hand placement. The 9 and 3 steering wheel hand position maintains good control over the wheel while reducing the risk of injury from the airbag.
Robby, since you are an example of who to follow the laws of the road, you should always wear your seatbelts
That powder coating session was super cool, was always interested in how that works.
Love how the powder coat process works. Need to have some stuff done.
Props to showing everyone their names I love this channel
Everyday is something NEW to build a better future tomorrow Thank you Kevin 🎉
Really loving your food recommendations!
Great job guys. Thank you 😊
Wrap looks pretty good
Happiness cannot be travelled to, owned, earned, worn or consumed. Happiness is the spiritual experience of living every minute with love, grace and gratitude.
Kevin’s metallic powder coating work looks absolutely awesome. Kind of wondering if they can do candy or pearl coating with metallic as well.
Tiger Drylac can grind what ever colour you like.
As can Duracoat.
Most powder is sold in a 25 kg box.
Outside of standard colours is very expensive.
@@darrinsteven7002 that’s awesome thanks!
Love it saw our name !
The wrap turned out pretty good. You aren’t kidding. Powder coating IS expensive.
I prossesd all that and im glad, i have an eastwood powdercoating system so learning anything about how to get a good end result im all ears 👂
Nice job and a new experience for the crew. Truck looks goood.
That was pretty cool, have a great great week and count your blessings amen.
I don’t know why I Just sat here looking anxiously at my screen until I saw my name on your truck. It’s like watching the lottery numbers come out I guess. Thanks for the great content Robby!
My wife and I were watching your video. She thinks Robby is funny guy, she really enjoyed it.
You guys should try Playa Azul next time you're in Salina or Richfield. Not saying they're as good as the Vegas place but they're pretty good.
That truck looks amazing!!👍👍👍
You mention Milwaukee tools stuff all the time, it's rubbed off on me. Thanks to your love of the brand, and their enabling your addiction, I have been replacing all my POS substandards with some serious quality tough Milwaukee gear. Thanks for fueling my tool addiction!
Ooh look, a new cordless impact for Christmas! Lol
Merry Christmas 🎄🎁 everyone ⛄
So cool seeing my name on the truck
The truck looks Super badass
Make the old headlight holes into storage bins accessible from out side
They changed it to 9 and 3. For the airbag. I still palm it :)
Just watched Matt's video of him getting the corvair seen he was gonna stop buy to see you but ur doing this lol love both ur channels keep up the good content for us to watch on weekends 👌🏼
Prebaked?! That’s like smoking a pre concert joint before your concert joint 😂
Nice, the scar is healing fast, much better you didn't hurt your eye
33:52 !!! That’s me!
I always have a tape measure, cresent wrench and a pair of vice grips with me at all times.
Love the look of your truck all the best from dave in Scotland

Found my name. Sweet. And Thank you. The truck looks awesome.
It cracks me up that you bring a huge assortment of tools and use a cresent wrench to take out bolts
I was so excited to see my name on the truck!! I feel like I'm famous now.
Awesome video on powdercoating, and I saw my name on the truck!!
Our powder coaters wear full Stay Puff Marshmallow suits with an independent temperature control air source.
Powder is hard on the health.
A shop in Sherwood Park Alberta had their powder coater die of lung desiese after dust mask painting in less then a year.
He was in his early 20's.
Very nice work guys
Awsome ! Thanks for sharing !
Looks awesome
😮shiny sparkly paint
Guess I qualify as an old timer as I come from the days of 10 & 2. Wonder how many viewers remember the term 'C.O.D. turn'? Can't do those with modern cars because of the form fitting seats and seat belts. Great video Robby, thanks for sharing.
