    At first I was curious what you were doing with the pickets, but that was a nice use of affordable wood that made it look really nice once you planed them. Looks like cedar?

      Thank you! Yep, cedar fence pickets that we made smooth with the planer. It was a fraction of the cost of already smooth cedar lumber. 😎

    Do you need a specific type of wood to do this?

      It’s different on different sections. For the exterior, you’d want something better with water / the elements - so, cedar, teak, or ipe would be the most commonly used. Cedar is the least expensive option and what was used here (also what would be used more in Japan as cedar is readily available in Japan)
