It's the first time I've heard of an English/ Yankunytjatjara (indigenous) lanauge fusion and it was especially important for us in the context of things atm.

This year was pretty harsh, there were just not enough spots for all the acts, that would have deserved to be in the finals, in both semis.

Missed the translation for the Sami comments.
For many years it used to be just Finnish and Swedish. And in 2022 and 2023 they also had Ukrainian.

I am Irish and I believe Marty Whelan said “You’re divils for waiting! Why make us wait?!” Divil is an Irish way of saying devil. He’s basically calling the EBU devils (in a nice way) for making Ireland wait until 9th to be called out because in 2018 and 2012 (the only other times we got in in the last decade) they also made us wait.

We had this multiple times the netherlands in the past. Happily god heard me when I said that we didnt want to he anounced last this time
The Portuguese commentators also celebrated Croatia and Luxembourg going through, not as wildly as Portugal but when there was only one spot left he was rooting for Luxembourg.
During the show Portuguese commentators also called Serbia's song as beautiful and complimented Luna for being a nice girl.
Azerbaijan commentator completely ignoring that there country did not make it 😅
She did make a reference to its participation that counts.
2:23 (I’m Finnish) it’s even way better in the ~5 seconds before this spot. The commentator Mikko Silvennoinen is saying ”say Finland, let it be Finland” right before they say Finland!!! 😊😀

Months before the contest we get so hung up on odds and all that stuff… it honestly takes the fun of eurovision…
I am honestly an avid fan of eurovision but I avoid eurovision on social media as much as I can because my views will become tainted… because I didn’t follow any of it this year I knew Serbia and Slovenia would qualify no doubt

Why does Finland has so many languages, including ruZZian?
Because both finnish and swedish are official languages of Finland, sami is significant minority language and there also is quite good amount of those who speak russian. Our national final UMK had commentation in addition of these, two different sami languages, english, ukrainian and sign language. YLE is putting an effort to be accessible.

Luxembourg has three official languages: Luxembourgish, French and German. Luxembourgish is a bit similar to German, so they might have been speaking that? At least it wasn't Hochdeutsch.
He speaks Luxemburgish, which linguistically is a Moselle Franconian dialect/variety of German that was standardised in the 70s and given the status of an official language in the 80s.
As German I also just understood the first 2 sentences. The rest wouldv'e been a guessing game for me. So it's definitely not german (the caption also says itsLuxembourgish). :D
The official languages in Luxembourg are Luxembourgish; German and French. The broadcaster opted for English instead of German because 99% of viewers that understand Luxembourgish understand German perfectly fine and people that only speak German would just watch the German domestic broadcast instead; German in modernday Luxembourg is understood and spoken by the majority of the native population but not commonly spoken in day to day life and or by foreigners; whereas a big part of the population (~50%) are foreigners that usually come from other places and mostly only have knowledge in French or English.
Linguistically some people say Luxembourgish is a dialect of German others claim that it is a proper language; and being able to understand it as a native German speaker often depends on where the German speaker originates from (somebody living close to Luxembourg can usually understand most things said when they learned a local related "dialect" while for example people from east and northern Germany usually struggle a lot). My take on it is that Germans have it the wrong way and just claim every variation of "German" to be a dialect while some dialects in Germany are not even intelligeable to other Germans (like swiss German; Bavarian; Swabian or Frisian) (very similar how China groups every Chinese dialect as Chinese). The differenciation is often a political decision and often when Germans say Luxembourgish isn't a language but a dialect of German I just tell them they have it the wrong way and German is just a dialect of Luxembourgish (both statements are equally true/false)

I think it is cool that our broadcaster has official commentation in four different languages spoken in Finland, and that this video featured them all.
