    the F or EF option will not be ever available in 21k gold KOP nib of Sailor - its been researched by Sailor and the findings are the following, due to the softness of the 21k nib combined with any point finer than M, the nibs with the normal touch without any added pressure, results in tines opening too much and the nib starts skipping, these where at one point shared on FPN by master nibmeister Michael Masuyama

    • @SamuelNaldi
      @SamuelNaldi  Před 4 měsíci +8

      Yep, totally like that. However i think there is always Room to research again and redevelop. Some things seem impossible - but the truth is that nothing is impossible with the right amount of effort.

      That "tines opening & skip in writing" happened with me with my PilotCustomUrushi, Fine nib. Had to abandon the pen !

    I am a regular user of Sailor high end pens, my first one had a broad Naginata Togi nib so my expectations were very high for my new KOP. Upon first writing with it I could not believe what I felt, the feathery touch, the beauty of the two toned nib, the juicy flow, the comfortable grip section and weight, the lovely urushi, all added up to create a pen that is greater than the sum if its parts and a marvel of writing experience. The model I have is almost glass smooth, writing with it is barely audible, perhaps the pencil sound in the video has to do with the microphone that acts as an amplifier. I cannot say enough about Sailor pens because everytime I pick them up to write the sense of wonder always comes back as when I wrote with them straight out of the box.

      Which nib do you have on your KOP, M or B?

  • @B_-_t_-_-_-_
    @B_-_t_-_-_-_ Před 4 měsíci +2

    I was initially disappointed with my KOP. However, I have discovered the nibs of various manufacturers invite the writer to write slightly differently. Once I started using the KOP with more vertical strokes, almost like a brush, I discovered how wonderful that 21k nib is and yes, it is now my favourite above my 149 OB (must write large/boldly), my Custom Urushi (slow & slightly flexed writing), my M1000 (does a bit of everything well however you want to use it) and my Montegrappa Wild Arctic (write firm, fast & at lower angle to page). The only fault is that the KOP does need to be full to perform its best and starts skipping all too soon as the ink quickly vanishes from its small converter.

    KOP is the nib that makes you want to write until ink runs out. It's my favorite pen at the moment.

    Magnificent nib, splendid review. I cannot speak from experience of the King of Pen nibs; but I can say that even the 21k nib on the Sailor Realo is a wonderful writer. Perhaps at a pen show I will encounter this glorious pen.

    Sorry for being late to the party. Last year, I got my demonstrator Pro Gear KOP with a broad nib. I love the pen. I thought I was going to to baby it. But the it's pretty robust and reliable. The line width is around 1mm. This pen will give you the best sheen and shade out of your inks. The down size (which isa a minor one) is that the KOP is a gusher.

    Thanks, Samuel, for showcasing this very sublime, incomparable nib. It is truly one of a kind. No other nib quite compares. I sometimes think the Sailor KoP’s nib alone makes the price you pay to buy the pen very worth it - for the unrivaled pleasure it provides.
    I have three KoPs, with two broads and a medium. The B nib is possibly my favorite broad nib ever. And the M is just as great. Unlike the obviously stiffer 21k nibs on Sailor’s standard Pro Gear and 1911L pens, the KoP’s 21k nib is not only large but has a lovely spring and bounce to it that is very enjoyable to write with. But it not a ‘flex-y’ nib, so users should beware not to get carried away. I only wish the KoP featured more nib options - certainly the naginata togi nib as a standard offering ( at extra charge, I guess). Sailor’s other specialty nibs on the KoP would be a sweet thrill. I use my KoP pens with Sailor’s cartridges for more ink capacity.
    I really wish I had the lilac colored urushi KoP that you showed here.

    I possess two of them. On both nibs you'll find the letter "M", but just one of them writes like a Japanese M, the other one is much "juicier" and writes more like a B. I REALLY love them.
    There is one better nib, and that would be the Magnum nib you can find in the high-end GvFC pens.
    Thank you very much for the lovely video!

    Great Job Sam! But!!! I feel like you were kind of speechless----and had a hard time communicating the exact feeling the pen gives you when you write with it. And that is exactly how this pen is! It has to be tried. That is a lucky customer.
    The Naginata togi nib is yet many many notches better writer....imagine that !
    Loved the video and the energy :)

      I have to comment here: because I own both the Naginata Togi nib and the broad KOP one is not better than the other, they are only incrementally different, have the exact same feathery touch and are on the same league, among the best nibs created in the history of writing instruments.

    • @Shak-MD
      @Shak-MD Před 4 měsíci +1

      @gihanzohdy3284 Isn't it amazing? I feel like FP enthusiasm is kind of like an addiction.... different ones hit different spots in different people :) . It is awesome how any person can have a different feel and opinion using the same nib. I find it difficult to disagree with you! But to me, the M/B/NM sound feel totally different.
      This is an awesome addiction. No shame in our game. :) Cheers.

    In my opinion the King of Pen has the finest current production nib in the entire world. The combination of ink flow, nib size, feedback and bounce as rendered by Sailor’s master artisans creates an incomparable writing experience that has to be experienced to be understood. I am lucky enough to own one and it’s cured me of the desire for virtually every other grail pen.

    It is a different writing sensation for sure. After writing with my Jinhao 9019 (also with large nib), I changed my pen to KOP. I had to adapt quickly my writing style. It is not the same. It's difficult to describe actually.

    I really do love a KOP nib. Probably the fountain pen I own the most versions of. I also enjoy mounting them in eye dropper pens to have an awesome ink reservoir behind it. I had one grown down to a western XF and have enjoyed it so far. I can see the hesitance due to the softness of the nib though. I am always telling myself to be careful when using it.

    Gracias por la reseña y el vídeo. Tengo una Sailor King of Pen de ebonita que compre hace varios años. Es magnífica, aunque no la he entintado y sólo he escrito con ella mojando el plumín en el tintero. Me gusta tanto que prefiero guardarla (aunque sea un error no disfrutar de ella escribiendo)

    Although the Sailor KoP is a great pen, IMHO simply doesn't compare with a top-of-the-line ST Dupont. Sadly, your wonderful video was rudely interrupted by another asinine ad from Hertz with Tom Brady. UGH!
