  • Ringbolt Hitching. This is a short tutorial on how to do Ringbolt Hitching. Ringbolt Hitching was originally used to protect rope from chaffing when it was passed through a Ringbolt. igkt-solent.co.uk/

Could you please do a tutorial on Coashwhipping? You have a way of demonstrating and explaining the steps in a clear and concise manner. I have several books on rope work and sometimes get lost in the illustrations. Your ditty bag handle looks great!

I personally found the best way of learning was to meet other people that also did knotting. You might find that there is an International Guild of Knot Tyers near you? www.igkt.net/index.php/branches/branch-details

Johnny Debt, Howdy; How do you figure the amount (length, of cord to use? Most don't give that in their videos.
Sure would be helpful to the beginners. Thanks for taking the time to be explicit and easy to follow.

Yes, it is always difficult to work out length of cordage required. In many cases for a simple pattern, for every 1 inch I want to cover, I use about 1 foot of cordage (yes, I am old). Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated.

@@KnottingKnots Thanks for answering, alot don't. So, Thank you. Now there is a place to begin. I take it that this would also work for Cockscombing?

So it's just french hitching, but alternating directions between hitches.

Or just a hitch that changes direction after each one. Thanks for taking the time to view and also make a comment, very much appreciated. Are you more of a practical or decorative knotter?

Little bit of both. Depends on what's needed for the job.
