- A quick show and tell on my current MK18 pistol set up. The Geissele trigger, DD muzzle brake, DD charging handle, and SBA3 brace came with the pistol from the factory. I added the other accessories

I'm going to pick my MK18 up on Monday. It has the M4E1 lower and it comes with the Holosun AEMS red dot sight. Can't wait to take it to the range
What a beautiful gun my god.
Mine came with the trigger too and I love it! You can take a pound off the trigger pull with a spring that comes with it.
The nice thing about the safety selector is that you can clock the opposite side 180 degrees to get it out of the way
I bought the same exact rifle. The Geissele trigger is great. I switched out the muzzle break for a Surefire Closed Warcomp, and added a Surefire Warden, Cloud Defense Lcs Hlx kit, Eotech Exps2-0, fixed DD sights and a simple Afg. Great gun 10/10

Got same rifle as well love it, I went with holosun 510c green dot and vortex new mini 3x magnifier. I have been thinking about getting the Surefire warcomp and warden combo and later might grab a Surefire silencer. This MK18 is a show stopper at a indoor range always get people stopping to see what I am shooting lol! So loud with stock break.
I was torn between the mk18 or the ddm4v7 and after holding both, the mk18 felt more like a battle rifle.
Plus, it goes bang when I pull the trigger and I hit what I aim at.
Very nice setup.
There is something to be said about the extra weight. Mk18 owners unite!

It’s really a pretty handy size. I just built what I’m calling my Faux18. Daniel Defense 10.3” barrel and Hard Chrome BCG, Geissele Mk16 Rail, BCM receiver, Raptor SD charging handle, and CTN Warcomp
I do like that Bronze looking finish.

To answer your question on the charging handle being vented, there is a small port on the right hand side, directly in front of the right side latch. Seems to work well in my experience.

Have the DDM4v7 in milspec brown. Will definitely pick up a MK18 in the same color if they have it again anytime soon.
They’re great guns. Tough as nails. They eat any ammunition you can put in it. I’ve got an older model that’s SBR. Thought about getting a newer in a pistol conversion. Yours looks awesome, love that color.
That’s exactly what I did. I have a DD MK18 sbr and got this guy most recently. DD puts together a real workhorse of a gun!
I would definitely get a cmmg rip brace. those are the best out to me
had mine for 3 weeks now, DD is the best! put an geissle sdc trigger in it, my favorite gun by far.

Love the video. I’m so glad you mentioned the gas port size. I’ve looked at this exact mk18 100 times Over but I couldn’t get a straight answer of the gas port size has been reduced. Glad they fixed that. Also, shoot that freaking owl in the background. I thought my nose was wheezing most of the video
Thanks! I even called and confirmed with DD. They said they reduced the size on their MK18 ports years ago. You’d definitely be good to go if you bought a new one now. Sorry about the ambient noise. Working on limiting that...

Awesome gun. I wanted the v7p but ended up with the v7s upper with an aero lower. Saved a little money that way. You have a really good narrator voice btw. Keep the videos coming!

There's a company that sells a more study, rigid strap for the back of the pistol brace. I got one and it definitely helps for shouldering

I swapped mine out for the Sba4 and like it much better, seems like you have much more control over the weapon IMHO. I also liked the look better.

BUCKIN AZ I don’t have to much knowledge but I’m guessing you will most likely have to file paperwork before you add a stock to it and replace the brace! I actually bought my DDMK18 as an sbr from the factory.

Love that mil spec+ cerakote. Couldn’t find one, so I fucked around and bought the fde. Curious to whether dd or any of the popular mag companies make magazines in that mil spec+ color or the dd fde color? Side note: Daniel Df has a particular fde coating, more brown. For those who don’t know..

Beautiful gun! Thanks for the video. I just ordered mine but went with their SBR, filed my NFA paperwork and will be waiting for 6-10 months now. Can’t wait. I was looking everywhere for this special edition model and couldn’t find it anywhere. My only reason that I didn’t go with it was also cause it doesn’t have the MK18 and 556 white markings on the side. Wonder why they didn’t put that in these. I know I’m OCD but I wanted that badging.

David E Betancourt not for a pistol. You should just need a purchase permit or concealed carry license. But I’d call your local gun shop. They can answer your local law questions better than anyone here
I put flashlights on my rifles so I can see what i'm looking at, but nice setup it look so beautiful and you also have the same stock that I have on my 300 blk.
I just hadn’t gotten the flashlight yet. I currently have a Surefire on there. I’d like a 300blk next

How many of you prefer the MK18 rail over the Geissele MK8 rail?
I was using magnifier setup for a bit but the flip to side mounts put the lens right above the ejection port. Shooting suppressed gets it dirty as fuck. LPVO is the fix.
This video made me take a decision. I was in doubt btw Sig Sauer Virtus 11”5 and after watching this video I will go with the Daniel Defense MK18. You know, Sig Sauer is nice and with great quality but its not an pure AR15 platform. And as I do tactical shooting, the Daniel Defense looks great. Agree?
Those are both high quality firearms you’re talking about there. You couldn’t go wrong. But I definitely think it’d probably easier to keep spare parts available for the mk18

I have a M18 Law Tactical in the brown. It has run flawless and very fun to shoot. I think it would be cool to make the M18 with the same collapsible stock they have on the new DD PDW. I'm considering getting a M12 upper for longer distance shooting. Thoughts?
Personally, I’m not a huge PDW fan. But I understand why people like them. I also don’t get to do too much long distance shooting, but I know I’d go with a mk12 upper if I was! BCM has good options too in that category

can someone please explain why mark 18 pistol is considered a pistol? looks the same as the mark 18 SBR and shoots the same rounds. i'm trying to figure out if i want the SBR (NFA restricted) or the pistol (not NFA restricted - no wait). thanks in advance!
How did you get the MilSpec+ color in the MK18 Pistol? I can’t find it available on their website, in stock or not.
It’s a mixture of Cerakote Chocolate brown and burnt bronze. I did some deep digging and got an inside answer😉
As for the pistol grip, I agree with you. I've always liked the handle and wanted to have it, but in the end I have to say that it's just too narrow for me and the shape doesn't fit my hand either. Visually, it is a beautiful grip and it is very reminiscent of a revolver grip, but in the end, looks are of no use if you cannot wield the gun properly. I like the pistol grips of "hera arms" and "magpul". hera arms is a german arms company and they make very quality products and the grips are very similar to magpul

I have both, they are the same thing, exact same thing, except handguard. Quad rail is thicc and heavy.

Not that I need that extra accuracy, but how accurate is this compared to the DDM4 V11? I rented that model and with my beginner knowledge and bad eyes, it was very accurate at about 70 feet. I was using MBUS sights.
Ajo Joseph I think generally speaking, you’re usually going to get better accuracy out of a longer barrel like on the V11. But this MK18 from DD has been plenty accurate for what I need. I’ll report back in when I get to shoot it at 100 yards

This one I bought may have been a limited run only. It came with a few upgrades that I talked about. Other than that, it’s just a color difference

Lol its a Mk18 why would people get their panties in a bunch. Even frankin mk18 are mk18s as long as they have the 10.3in barrel and risII rail or if they follow the new block 3 specs amd use the geissele rail. You have an awesome pistol my doot! Ignore the haters hope to see more of your mk18s!

Hey Tyler. Set up notifications on Daniel defenses website. They restock every few weeks and bam. Have it sent to a local ffl and your good. Can do payments too!

Joe Z it’s an SBA3 pistol brace that has quick detach sockets on either side. Then I have a Haley strategic D3 sling that is attached with a push button swivel

I just got lucky and found one in stock at my local FFL. And they’re basically the same gun except for the rail. I’d go MK18 cause I’m a sucker for the RIS rail and the logo on the upper receiver. But the v7 is a whole lot lighter
I sold my ddmk18 for the ddm4v7p in +p coating and I’m wondering if I made the mistake! I love how much lighter the v7p feels when running and gunning but idk if I made the right choice. I’m debating on selling the v7p for the special edition FDE mk18. What would you do in my shoes?
You’ve now owned both at this point and I understand they’re the exact gun. The ddm4v7p can be modified into a mk18 block 3 but what would your advice be to owning the ddm4v7p or the mk18. Weight vs durability when clearing a room or clearing a house. Thank you :)
Christopher Sok well I’m no pro, but I’d probably just stick with whatever you have. The v7 is plenty durable enough. Unless you’re taking your gun to a tree like an axe, it’s probably gonna hold up just fine

Btw I went with the full trade of my ddm4v7p and I super happy with my choice. I had them install the surefire warcomp closed time... and it runs so smooth, flat shooting, and such soft recoil!!!

That’s great! As far as the G33, it just depends what you want it for. You don’t really need magnification at a 25 yard indoor range. But if you plan on going further out, it’s a really solid option. Durable build, easy to use, and quality glass.

It’s a direct impingement. Daniel defense doesn’t do gas piston as far as I know
this vs triarc systems pistol ar-15?
That’s gonna come down to personal preference. Both are quality guns. You probably get more features with the triarc for the money. But it’s just cool to have a MK18 inspired gun like this one from DD. Either way, you can’t go wrong

Alex Bolton thanks! I bought it at Blackstone Shooting Sports in Charlotte, NC. However they don’t keep them in stock regularly. I just got lucky. That price was also pre-covid panic buy. Unfortunately prices have seen an uptick in recent times
@@bluegunner4719 Thanks for the info. Blackstone was sold out (as I expected) and DD told me this was a limited run and there are no plans at this time to produce them again. I ended up biting the bullet and buying from the only store I could find online that had one in stock. I should have it in my hands in a few days.

I dont know why peopke whould get upset . DD has been selling complete MK18 CQBRs to SOCOM for 6 or 7 years now. After the Colt Lost the soul source in 2013 . SOCOM started buying these .
The Colt , and DD MK18s are both legendary .
Quick history note . Colt actually had nothing to do with the MK18. Crane went to LMT To help with this project . Since Colt had the soul source. LMT had to release that TDP To colt so they could start making the CQBR. While CRANE was waiting for those orders. They cut down 14.5 M4s to 10.3 and opened up gas port to 0.70. The MK18 ended up being just NAVY setup for NSW and security on ships . Once SOCOM started using them . Then they turned it into a complete package . Remember SOCOM and Navy never used 3 round burst. They only used M4A1 Config. So all in all LMT is the godfather of the MK18.
I'm just glad DD Finally got away from 0.81 gas port size. Those things were absolutely ridiculous when suppressed .
