Wow - only 96 comments? This was such a well produced and thoughtfully conceived video, I appreciate it! Taught me more than any flying tutorials from 'ace' pilots with 40,000 subs. I've been a longtime player but never took it that seriously. I'm now realizing there's a lot that War Thunder doesn't tell us about what we need to know - and the guys at the higher tiers seem to know it, but they're not telling either :-). Thanks for all your attention to detail and thorough, easy to understand descriptions. Prost.
👍 I'm a new War. ⛈Thunder player and you are 100% correct. Tons of War ⛈ Thunder videos and sadly finding videos actually worth 👀 watching are as rare as hen's teeth. 😬 Ugh!
Best MEC vid I've watched personally
Fantastic tips, thank you. I feel like I can move to SB for aircraft now. I love joystick flying but I feel like it's such a disadvantage in RB.
Orangefan indeed. thank you for your videos as well! you are a much bigger content creator note.
I apologise for commenting on such an old video..but I just wanted to say how useful I found this presentation and I wanted to thank you for the obvious amounts of hard work and time you put into this video.
Why u have to apologise for commenting :D
And thank you!
Excellent tutorial. Easy to understand, make my own notes and take screen shots of your graphs for reference! Thank You!
Nice! Very detailed description of mec. I never would have tested these things out. I would have gotten overwhelmed, very easily 😅 Thank you for the video! It was really informative!! 👍👍
This sounds like a really good tutorial but im sure im going to have to watch it a few more times til i get it😂
Thank you very much :) I'm learning a lot, and this stuff is giving my F4U's a nice little extra umph when I need it :3
Outstanding! Thank you for this. Long time sim pilot new to WT and its MEC options. Now enjoying Sim battles and EC.
Excellent video! Thank you for all your hard work and awessome tips!
It's really easy to understand, and you have a great knowledge base and understanding of how and when to use mec...I'm coming back into WT but on xbox series x with mouse and keyboard. And want to understand the aircraft more than fly and shoot
AWESOME!!! Vielen Dank!!! Can't wait to learn this stuff!!
+Sgt_Swear yeah i hope it will help :)
This is great Sher, thanks so much.
And I do think it is good for beginners to, though mainly for climbing and getting into position. But it is easy to forget with so many other things on your mind.
Most would give up as I kind of did.
But now I am flying sim and I need it worse than ever, so hopefully I can keep on top of it, though I am a bit noobish.
Much thanks for taking the time to put this up!
very informative. Danke schön!
This was great, thank you.
Thank you very much
Great video thanks
Nice work! Thank you!
Amazing video, it's in my favourites.
Great video, next you need to make one on aircraft trim, it's the hardest part of flying sim for me
I don't even know what it means
Great effort and feedback to help the community o7
thanks for help dude
I’m a beginner to all this, just started playing again after a while. Playing sim, should I care about this? I am really bad at this can’t even fly stable without slowly veering. I probably won’t even be able to do this it’s too inconvenient
Skin for d-13?
Great vid!
thanks, you have very good tips and tricks. It made me a champion xD
Great tutorial Sheriff! Thanks! Will give this a try - particularly impressed by the difference between engine temps using AEC/MEC (Spit - @ end of vid).
As a slight 'aside', clearly you are using head-tracking. Is that VR or TrackIR? If it's TrackIR (which I use) how do you get such nice flowing head movements? And (if TrackIR).... would you share your config file...? ;)
This is my TIR File, pretty old by now and pretty sure I would change a few things.
And the temperatures of the spit would now be different, with all the changes in WT.

Ah, right. OK.
Many thanks for such a quick reply - will try your config :).
Say I whant to test flight a plane I change to full real controls then I go back to the game and I can’t individually control my engines even though I have my key binds there but when I click it nothing happens can intone help pls
Excellent video!!!
What should i do? when i set my radiator to 100% and then i remove my finger from the button it turns back to 50%
How do you make small changes in your radiator? I can only go from 50% and 100%
Good job really
nice video !! thx a lot !!
This is very informative. Do you have any suggestions for flying MiG-3? I don't understand why the MiG has aileron trimmer in RB, but not in SB. This makes it very difficult to fly in SB. I have to battle the plane constantly as it tends to roll on one side and I have no aileron trimmer to compensate.
I now that you can start a test flight, change the trim of any axis in any plane and then can fixate the trim with the corresponding button.
For some reason none of this works. I have the keys set up exactly like you, and yet when I press them it either does nothing or says the current percentage. As a side note, this is also true for trim controls.
Can this be used for bombers too?
sure
Hey, thanks. I've been dicking about with MEC recently and the only real question I have left is in the way War Thunder handles Prop Pitch. In a constant rpm aircraft like the Spitfire IX... if I switch on manual engine control, is the prop pitch control adjusting RPM, not pure pitch?
Cause on the bottom it still *says* pitch. So I wanted to make sure. Doesn't help that my German is super rusty so I couldn't just confirm on your vid, haha.
I just got into Sim this month, god knows what I was doing wasting my time with a joystick and TIR all this time in RB. Loving it, looking forward to testing my skills against you soon. (Or if you're ever looking for another wingman, shoot me a msg, I fly mostly Brits, but I'm up to 3.3 in Germans now)
+Tigris Gaming Yes you are right, if you are flying a plane with a contant speed propeller the "pitch control" controls not the pitch but the RPM. You are right
Thanks mate. See you in the skies.
When I press the buttons it jumps from 50% to 100 or 0 but when i release it goes back to 50
Enable relative control
@@SheriffsSimShack thanks
You are the best! XD
ok so im trying to set it up and it automatically just goes to 100 or 0 does not go in between and just resets after i let go of the button how do i fix this?
Just activate "relative Control" in the axis controls of the key you want to bind
Is there any benefit from MEC in WT? I mean as far as I know everyone uses AUTO engine management so I think mastering MEC is only for one's personal satisfaction cause engine managent adds another thing to do. To be honest I also complicate my virtual life cause I mostly fly with HUD completely off ;)
And in my personal opinion MEC for > Bf 109E-4 and Fw190 (which had engine automanagemer or even Kommandogerät in BMW engines) is art for art's sake. Even real pilots did not manage engine manaully in combat.
I recomend to whatch the video completely. Especially the last part regarding the benefits.
I personally dont use MEC on Fw190s. Due to the Kommandogerät and the manual Proppitch if flown in MEC Mode.
Got me, I skipped that part :/
I did not care about AEC or MEC cause I mostly fly German fighters. But on the other hand your video shows that WT is seriously fokked up... I had a dream about "Experten" servers in SB mode but it does not make sense any longer.
Awesome video mate thank you so much! Thanks to you i understand almost everything. I got premium P51D-10 recently and it has heat problem, engine gets cooked so quickly even if i don't use wep much. It has different FM than D-5 or D-30. So im trying to use MEC for fixing this problem and it works engine gets cooler with MEC settings even if i always use wep. But i sense im loosing power, especially at higher alt. Mixture isn't changeable could it cause less power? While climbing i use %90 prop pitch, it seems better than %100 for P51D-10 but im not sure.
I have controls adjusted but in game I have to hold things like prop pitch, how do I make it toggle?
+novlingninja activate relative control
Nice
+korgeth !
I'm having a little trouble with the prop pitch. I know that it is better left alone, but l do want to play with it a little. I understand how it works, but I don't know what setting to use it on. I was playing around, and jacked it up to 100% and it instantly killed my engine, and I don't know why it does this. Can someone explain some of the best/ most common setting for prop pitch and why it instantly killed my engine.
I'm mainly flying the Bf109 F-4.
The Chapter at 7:50 explains it
Sheriff's Sim Shack thanks.
At 19:36 how exactly do you open this menu?
7:00 How did you takeoff full WEP out of idle? If I do that, my plane will violently swerve to the left (or right), and I won't be able to keep it centered on the runway even with full opposite rudder and individual wheel brake.
During my takeoffs I'm always forced to slowly increase the throttle so I can control my plane, while my teammates takeoff so fast. Any idea on what I'm doing wrong? (Maybe my low rudder sensitivity?)
Arch3rAc3 you can trim your rudder beforehand, but he may have mastered the torque effect to a certain extent that it makes it seem like there is no torque at all
The thing is, even if I apply full opposite rudder from the very beginning, it won't counter the torque (in some planes at least). So even if it's trimmed, the torque is too "strong" as to say.
Have your Sim controls set up? When I was first starting on sb I had a bunch of problems keeping the plane straight on the runway regardless of input. You gotta def set up new controls if your playing Sim. Mouse and even keyboard is pretty garbage for sb. Use a controller or joystick
My Spitfire MK. IX's supercharger does not work. Everything else does though.
Woops, haha. Selected TurboCharger that's why.
Why did you not mention beer in this video??? ;D
how to change game fov
Fly an P51 D 30 or 20na plz ;)
it makes me use a controller and wont let me keybind for most of those controls
If your on Xbox you can hook up a keyboard
How did you get the data about horsepower?
via the described browser map.
@@SheriffsSimShack,dangit! until now I had no idea about it's existence! Thank you mate, I needed that!
hello sherriffs sim shack how do i siwch your controls to mine
i have your controls how do i instll it
How do i stop the radiators from going back to 50%
never mind i found it
how did u do it, mine still go straight to 50% or 100%
is this only avalible for ful real control?
+Christian Moreno as I mentioned no. It's doable with RB as well
cant download it
It says that he screen shots are no longer available anyone else have the same problem?
working for me
Sheriff's Sim Shack yea it worked now thank you this was very helpful I solved my engine overheating problem
how die he remover the fly heper when you on ful real controls
What did I remove?
Sheriff's Sim Shack nevermind my friend helpt me but thanks
Gaijin removed this!!!! is there any other possible way to still make it work?!
No its still there. I have no idea how u came to this conclusion
I understand now. Because the settings for each device used to be "increase value" and "decrease value", now they turn into "maximum value" and "minimum value" which makes it impossible to change the values precisely. If you've set them up before, the increase/decrease settings stay there. but if you haven't down that before and want to set up MEC now, it's only possible to set up to either 100%, 50% or 0%. which is dumb.
Just activate "relative Control" in the menue and live happily with MEC.
Just figured out by playing around with it. "Relative Control" is the key! thanks Sheriff for the video. This makes War Thunder to the next level of fun. Greetings from Aachen.
wow no dislike
download link not work!
are outdated anyway. I delete the link
