If you break line of sight with him, he will make a rift through his hell forest to the closest point of the wall between you and him in an attempt to reach you. This turns it into a reverse Specimen 6, where instead of you always wanting to look at it, you want it to always see *you.*
(Edit: This always takes a second, so he moves faster the farther he is away from you.)
Having just played through this game myself, I found that Specimen 13 is also one of the least threatening specimens in the game, because anytime it actually does hit you, you can just stand on a box and wait for your health to regenerate, completely negating any threat this thing had in the first place

I feel like Deer Lord might be Wambu’s new favorite since not that long ago Deer Lord got a new gameplay gimmick where it can rush forward and hurt you if he loses sight of the player behind a wall, which can disorient the player meaning he now has a fully capable chance of killing the player.
Just a note: it isn’t random. He’ll only do this if he loses sight of you behind a wall, meaning that you need to carefully guide him around walls if you want to avoid this.

19:40 Unironically, despite knowing exactly how to deal with him, Ben always fills me with pure dread every time he appears. It might very well be that spine-tingling, heart-dropping *death curse* of a song, paired with the vivid memory of his game-over sequence, but even if I don't find him the scariest, he certainly is the most intimidating specimen in my eyes.
When I encountered him, he would _always_ try and appear either directly on top of me or just outside my peripheral vision, which usually led to getting stabbed.

In a way I find 11 and 2 scarier cuz they look like they’re reaching for you plus 8, 9 and 12 are creepy in their own ways.

@@hunter_deamonne Well, the Deer Lord uses menacing, demonic images and visuals, the Parasite leaves a yellow substance on the screen, and the Food Demon, well, I can’t quite understand its visuals, but they seems to be images of demonic looking goats.

FUN FACT, the issue you had with Specimen 8 "Deer Lord" is that he was slow... in infinite mode/doll house dlc he got a extra ability of which makes him go through walls at 90 MPH
Yeah that was an amazing addition. They actually managed to make the Deer Lord's Chase much better.

I think it's really cool how Specimen 8's chase was recently made a lot more threatening, and NOT by giving him the deer mid-chase.
He now goes full Nurse mode and phases through walls at an alarmingly fast speed.
I replayed this game again a few days ago on the Switch release, and I noticed it randomly damaged me or got insanely close out of nowhere, so I looked behind me to see THAT HAPPEN WHEN I BROKE LINE OF SIGHT

You know what makes the smelly old man great? The fact that the artists unintentionally made him look like Saul Goodman. And the idea of Saul chasing you down with a scythe is just absolutely hilarious to my little gremlin baby brain.

I can imagine a final boss version of Specimen 1. You wander all the way through the mansion and suddenly you wade your way through a ton of cardboard cutouts when they move out of the way to reveal a giant eldritch monster with a bunch of cardboard cutouts on the end of its tentacles.
But who was the third suspect? It kinda looks like specimen 10 (the old version of the parasite)

The parasite is definitely the scariest specimen to me. While your #1 spot, Pink Floyd’s The Wall Of Flesh is definitely the most horrific by its carefully intended concept (I first thought the therapeutic cat would be the one to transform into the monster), the concept of ego death and mental erasure genuinely fucks me up. I just cannot bode with that concept, and I suppose I should be scared of The Puppet for the same reason as it too steals the player’s agency and free will, but I guess I’m not as affected by its cartoony design and the minimal threat it provides.
And this is EXACTLY why I also don't like zombies. Stay the f always from me, you stinky walking corpes
I think Deer Lord functions in a way cooler way on Playstation than on steam. If you lose line of sight with him he almost instantly teleports through the wall, which makes him a lot cooler and interesting in chase.
This was actually a change in the 2021 Halloween Update along with changes to the Specimen 13 chase, endless Mode changes, and more.
It's not instantaneous, but this is done by using portals to his "realm" that you can actually see him use if you're quick enough to catch him using it. This makes the chase more threatening, since now you have to carefully maneuver around walls.
People have talked about Specimen 1 and how it isn't really that dangerous, and while that's true in comparison to the other ones, I think a lot of people underestimate how much damage the thing could do if it got out. Heart attacks, obviously, but also think about the number of tasks that could go horribly wrong if a cardboard cutout just suddenly appeared in front of you. Driving is the big one, but even more minor stuff like cooking or a heartfelt conversation mean that any town with a Specimen 1 manifestation is going to, at minimum, be miserable.
Imagine just being in your own damn shower and you get knocked off your feet by a smiling douchebag cutout, and proceed to become concussed from the fall

I think the kill count is the kill count of people who attually died from a heart attack from it.
Specimen 8 shows up in Lost in Vivo where it actually gets a backstory, that being that it was a human boy that lived in the forest with his starving family, so they prayed to a creature called Bayagototh. Bayagototh granted them trees of meat, but he also kidnapped the child and transformed him into Specimen 8.
I think it's also important to note that Specimen 8 says "Praise be Bayogototh" in Spooky's Jumpscare Mansion in a somewhat different voice.

Does anyone else find themselves always coming back to this video? I don’t know what makes this video so special to me but it just is.
Specimen 1 as a final boss. Specimen 1s start popping out of the walls each with a note talking about children going missing and a doodle that looks like the tamed version of Specimen 1 (cute skeleton, icecream, toast, pumpkin cup etc.) then the father you go the notes get darker and darker. The last note is from one of the kids telling the player that they killed the other kids. But that it wasn't his fault. His drawing came to life and killed his friends. U enter a room and see a kid on the ground crying. U get closer to him and specimen 1 start popping out of the ground blocking your view of the kid. Soon the kid is now a cardboard monster. It seems easy to beat him but when u finally hit him. It reveals a gooy surface. You hit him again. The floor gets covered in hole. Hit him again. Room gets darker. The multiple layers are each based of each of the other specimens.
Holy shit that sounds AMAZING. Almost makes me think about what would happen if each specimen got to be their own final boss

The note is likely from one of her classmates. I think one of the earlier notes mentions the school grounds being "haunted" at night. Matsuri likely stayed in or around the school at night, was found by Ringu/Specimen 4, and eaten or killed some other way. The specimen location in the mansion is a one to one recreation of the school Ringu was found in, after all...
The way that the Deer Lord could be amazing without fucking too much with his chase is by making him faster the more deer you killed earlier. If you killed all of them there's no way you'll be able to escape. He gets angrier and faster the more you killed.

I was wondering what the specimen in first place would be, then remembered that my favourite specimen exists and wasn't covered yet, and got REALLY excited. I LOVE this funny-looking Giygas flesh skeleton ribcage skull thing with a funny mesmerising theme that (somehow) sounds like a literal maze.

Funny enough the Deer Lord actually got a couple buffs that allow him to Slingshot through walls at a speed that would send him straight to Plaid, and in Spooky's Dollhouse's Hell Gate Chase, (Specifically the original version if I remember correctly) he's assisted by the Violent Deer.

It’s hard to explain how happy I was when you posted this, hearing your favorite CZcamsr talk about your favorite game is a great feeling. This is probably my favorite video you’ve made, and I’m glad it’s gotten so much attention. This was probably the best Christmas gift I got that year, considering I don’t actually remember any of the other things I got lol

Fun fact: They listened to the criticisms concerning certain specimens in the new Halloween update.
For example, the Deer Lord can now teleport through the wall in the middle of the room and is a lot faster, making it harder to run away from it. May the Deer Lord have mercy on you if there is a wall between you...
They also changed Bab to have a trail behind them because she wasn't freaky enough, apparently! And she and Specimen 2 are faster.
And specimen 13's chase is no longer pathetically easy with more open rooms, grates from within the room she can enter in, the fact she can now swim anywhere and not just follow you and certain rooms you have to drain before proceeding. She also has her own re-chase cycle in endless mode (at last).

Adding to 13, she's able to rechase *along* with other specimen - namely, Specimen 2, 5 and 12.
I heard someone say that's all stupid because only one of 3 can float, but... for one, fuck that guy; and second, it really doesn't matter if they're floating over the water or not. All three act as a push for you to take risks and go faster across the boxes, all rising in difficulty from each other.
Specimen 2 can catch up to you fine, but attacks slow enough to avoid, and can be temporarily stopped with the axe/sword.
Specimen 5 is slow, and her hallucinations aren't effective, but she cannot be stunned, deals more damage and strikes upon contact.
Specimen 12 I haven't experienced with 13 yet, so I dunno how fair or not he is.
As to why no other specimen are allowed? I believe it might be for balancing reasons. Most other combinations that can happen would make the section far too unforgiving, with many sections where ghost enemies can *and will* cut you off, and with too many others being able to outrun you easily.

thats rather funny origin, tho i feel like they did miss out alot when adding a fnaf based specimen, fnaf plays alot differently compared to other horror games, and i think its disapointing they only made them chase the player, theres so much they couldve done with the guy, like come on...THE GAME IS CALLED ''JUMPSCARE MANSION' i sure wounder what horror indie game is known for its obnoxious jumpscares...

I got the Taker's special room type my first time playing through spookys, completely blind.
I was so confused but I knew something was terribly, terribly wrong when this hallway I walked into never seemed to end.
So the walls closed in on you till you couldn’t move, and Taker showed up at that time.
Eventually, he stopped thinking.
I got it my first run too!! I knew what it was though. It was cool though despite that since I LOVE specimen 9.
I saw it and was about to buy my friend said “Do. Not.”
I think the taker always comes on your first run through so the game makes you feel how scary the game will be

I find it neat how the parasite's whole deal is making you give in to animalistic instincts, while the whole point of it's chase is making you fight your natural instinct to run away in order to not trigger it's fast form
it forces you to supress the fight and (mostly) flight instinct you have have been relying on for the entire game
