Since a lot of people seemingly didn't understand (or flat out skipped >:C) the explanation of the criteria at the beginning, I should clarify that although I find all the monsters here scary in a way, they're not necessarily ranked by scariness. My love, intrigue, and overall personal feelings also factored in to the ranking of these guys. EX: While Nemesis or the Regenerators might be scarier, I just had overall stronger feelings on the Zombie Dogs.
I know this explanation still leaves the criteria really broad, but I like to be loose about it on the Halloween Lists, cause I just wanna have fun with these. Also I just feel that having some kind of actual emotional engagement is more interesting than if I just tried to get increasingly scarier. ^^
So if a monster you want isn't on the list, it could be for a few reasons:
A. They might have been a contender that got bumped off by monsters I was more interested in.
B. I might not have played the game that your monster is from.
C. I might have just not been all that affected by your monster.. It's fine if you're personally afraid of something that I'm not.

My favorite part about the Wind Waker redeads is how if you're out of their aggro range, they will still stare at you, they just only move at you if you enter their range.
Which implies they always know you're there, they're just planted to guard a VERY specific space.
11:06 I think the reason it takes the form of your character is because the character is a vessel, or a bug created without thought or emotion. It had legit no clue what to do, so it was probably just like "screw it doppelgänger time".

- The reason Nosk impersonates the player is because the player at that point has no memories of loved ones that Nosk would use
- By the time you reach the pantheons, the player character has memories of Hornet, and thus that’s the form it takes instead of the vessel

The beginning?
One was in the hollow knight section in deepnest
One thing that I personally headcanon in relation to the amalgamates is this:
Their determination is not permanent.
Their bodies are morphed and melted because of how determination was artificially given to them, so it's not something they control or can manipulate, but keeps them alive even without their own forms.
Enevitably, These amalgamates will run out of Determination, buy it won't be a sad situation for them. They can keep themselves alive if they choose. I imagine they will let themselves exist long enough to fill their hearts desires, Such as Snowdrake's mother wanting to see Snowdrake grow up and live his life, or the Endogeny spending it's time with it's pack. Once they've gotten their lives that they wanted, I believe their determination will fade, and allow them to rest at peace.

I am actually kinda surprised that the xenomorph(s) from "Alien: Isolation" didn't make the list, they really freak me out as they're a constant, even if it's not out in the open it's still stalking from the vents. It also adds to the intimidation factor because they're unkillable. It's just un-natural how it reacts to sound so quickly. But the best part is about it's AI because it doesn't have a set path it uses, it just kinda freely moves wherever it wants whenever it wants. Anyways end of comment :)

Getting into the theory parts of this, I think the reason Nosk chooses to impersonate the Knight is moreso reflecting the Knight's (and by extension the Player's) number one longing: to understand themselves, where they came from, who they are. By this point in the game they've encountered a few individuals that look like the knight, but they've either been dead (the corpse in Greenpass) or taken over by infection (Broken Vessel). Seeing someone that looks like you, alive, someone who could finally provide some answers, was probably the best lure Nosk could use.

Nosk still creeps me out even after replaying the multiple times. It’s area is so hostile and creepy that it feels nice to see something familiar. We also never see another living vessel until then. Making him more enticing

Excellent list! One monster I’m surprised wasn’t here was the Reaper Leviathan from Subnautica. What an excellent and perfect execution to personify the scary part of the sea. Gigantic, scary looking, aggressive, terrifying roar, and the fact that it’s one of the 3 creatures in the game to not glow, everything mixes together perfectly in the Reaper Leviathan
Now I really want to know what Wambu thinks of Subnautica.

For anybody who says re-deads aren’t very scary, my first encounter with them in OOT didn’t know how to fight them. One in the graveyard in past stopped me and I was trying to process how to deal with it. It hunched over while I tried to attack it, it jumped me, and I had no ideas how to get it off, so I just had to watched Link slowly die cause I didn’t know what to do. I was so shook.

I might as well fit my headcanon here: Nosk didn't target you, it targeted Hornet, which is why it takes the form of ghost
Edit: so thinking about this later, I've realised my headcanon was completely wrong. ghost is made to be hollow, a perfect vessel for containing the infection, hence why nosk took the form of ghost rather than anyone else they met on their journey through hallownest.
Megablast then why did it attack Ghost?
Hornet never showed up in Nosk's lair, so it just waited of the next victim, which happened to be ghost

I had a thought/headcanon about Nosk that makes it infinitely more tragic. Major spoilers for Hollow Knight ahead.
So the player character/the Knight is one of many attempts at creating a vessel to contain the Radiance. It's not out of the question that a few of the vessels interacted at some point, and they all are fashioned after the Pale King and thus look fairly similar. Basically what I'm getting at is what if Nosk isn't imitating the Knight? What if Nosk is imitating one of their _siblings?_
As far as the fake Hornet, I'm fairly sure you can't access Winged Nosk until after you learn about the Knight's connection to Hornet so maybe that's why? The Doylist explanation is just "Hey you thought you were gonna fight Hornet? That's nice have Nosk instead :)"

Now that I think about it, I find it weird how we still got the typical Stalphos in Breath of the Wild, but no ReDeads; especially with how much genocide and bloodshed happened during the Calamity. They're the Hylian equivalent of zombies, so it's not like they can go extinct. Maybe they just didn't have a form to rise from since the Guardians can easily burn their enemies to a crisp; or they already rose and expired while Link was still in his hundred-year coma, and weren't affected by the Blood Moon.
I rather imagine ReDeads are a form of punishment rather then just because someone died in a bloody way and seeing how the guardians are the way they are well

Edit: Did you know that since Pyramid Head represents James's dark side, he can be killed if you just come to terms with it? If you empty all of your bullets before fighting him and just leave him alone, he'll kill himself, representing that you aren't afraid of the other side.. If that doesn't work, go to WhatCulture. Nosk is an interesting case,while its first mimicry of Ghost might be because they haven't grown to care for anyone yet,it also might be Nosk trying to mimic a sibling.Rhe Vessels all long for each other,to be whole in void again.But outside of the brief memory of Hollow,Ghost doesnt remember what their siblings look like.Notice in the Pantheon it takes the form of Hornet.Even though shes not void,she is Ghost's sister and the sibling that has tested and guided them during their journey.And by that point in the game they do have a bond
