So what if Buska is making money. He is filming these videos, and for those of us who can't afford to go to England, are enjoying them very much. And lady, the horses can't give consent because this isn't the movie "Animal Farm" okay. Stop being a bother and just go away. And I wonder if she knows that guards on horses have been guarding kings and queens for centuries? Probably not. The horses are being abused........what utter rubbish. And my grandfather was in the NWRCMP. He rode horses, they all did. I guess anyone who rides horses or stands around sitting on a horse is abusing them. Go blimey!!!

@@balianofibelin1 you are absolutely right! Not all race horses are treated badly…the lucky ones like yours are treated wonderfully. But go to any big track and go behind the scenes and you see thousands of horses bred every year hoping for that one in a million big winner. They run all those young horses through a training mill that tends to fry their brains, then dump them on the market. While the lucky ones end up with people who know how to bring them back from that, many do not and end up being labeled “difficult”, “mean”, “untrainable” and are further damaged by cruel training methods. Too many end up going to slaughter. Those are the horses that need help.

I've had and worked with horses my entire life, and if they straight up did not want to do it, an animal that size would have zero trouble making it known. One of my horses is part Irish Draught, the breed favored by the King's Guard, he weights 1200lbs and can send me flying with a toss of his head if he's in a mood, so as far as I am concerned, the 'consent' is given all right, it just isn't in English and people like this don't 'speak' horse. I've seen plenty of these videos where a horse flat out says 'no, not today' and is taken back inside. I've been inside and spoken to people in the museum about the horses, seen how they are kept and cared for with my own eyes... they stand there for an hour. I've been on longer trail rides and stood at shows longer back when I did that sort of thing. The care and well-being of these horses are always taken into account above all else, whether it be against weather, disruption on the street or a horse simply having a bad day. People like this don't know the first thing about the animals they are shouting about far too often, yet somehow they are 'experts' in what they want or consent to. Don't shout 'abuse' if you don't want someone to counter your opinion with their own, particularly as you could well be speaking to someone actually experienced on the subject. As for their 'making money off this' counter attack... Get over it. It's perfectly legal to record and post what you record in a public place. If he's making money off it, who in their right mind actually cares?

In WW1 there were more than 8 million horses, donkeys and mules that sadly died terrible deaths in horrific conditions....the fact that the Army still keeps the horse regiment is like an honour to their memory (in my opinion) ....they are well looked after...and will never, ever see a battlefield again thankfully...unlike some of our soldiers who have...and will continue to do so if crazy humans insist on killing each other...that's the real cruelty in this world!! Our soldiers do a great job...i thank them for their service!! xx

Well said, Buska. These horses aren't My Little Ponies - they aren't pampered pets. They are working for their living - and as we all know, working for one's living is not always pleasant (even with 24-hour health-care)! In the Victorian period horse pulled laden tramcars and coal carts, worked down mines. But I always feel sorry for their obvious distress when their ears go back! If there's any 'animal abuse' it's the way tourists treat them, as your videos show. Sadly it will probably eventually mean erecting barriers to separate horses and tourists from each other. But fortunately we're in Britain and tradition probably takes priority over the comfort of tourists - it will probably mean closing the pavement and making tourists stand on the other side of the road.

There were many horses injured including Sefton who became something of a hero and representative of the incredible care they received in the aftermath , some I believe returning to duty , others retiring . • @davemillan3360

It doesn't matter that the horses are well cared for, it's the exploitation itself that is wrong. Of course beating a horse with a stick is worse than not beating it with a stick, but that is a moot point when it comes to animal rights. That would be animal welfare. If you are vegetarian for the animals you should rethink that. Cows are killed after six years because they become less productive, they also have to be impregnated every year to start and keep up the milk production. Their offspring is taken away from them, and the males are sent to slaughter. Half of the females are used to replace their mothers, the other half is also send to slaughter. Laying hens on their hand are sent to slaughter at 18 months old because productivity decreased and they are replaced with new hens. To obtain those hens eggs have to be hatched, half of the chicks are roosters and they are killed on their first day because they can't lay eggs and are suitable for meat production. So no animal products without animal exploitation, animal suffering, and animal abuse. If you are vegetarian for your own health then I can say that you don't need milk, eggs, cheese, etc. A plant based diet is just as healthy, if not healthier, then a vegetarian diet.

Having watched Hinge & Bracket again I noticed something she said to the police woman : “those horses have to be broken for people to sit on them” - which is obviously accusing the police of animal cruelty towards their horses too.
For all of her much boasted animal expertise Hinge (or Bracket) has no idea what “breaking” a horse entails and it’s no more traumatic that her breaking in a new pair of shoes.
For a start training would be a better word than “breaking” and it takes sensitivity, understanding and a cart load of patience. The Irish draught horses which the Household Cavalry prefer are bred horses so they are used to people around them and have already learnt to trust them which is a start. Their training begins at around 3 or 4 years old when they have developed the strength to be ridden. Then the next stages of halter work, harness work and, perhaps the part which needs the most sensitive handling, backing etc is taken very slowly and at the horse’s pace every time. It’s counter productive to move on to the next stage before the horse is completely comfortable with the previous one.
A horse is a flight animal and, if it’s never had anything on its back before, it needs all the reassurance it can get during backing that whatever is on its back now isn’t going to attack it.
Any attempt to rush things or force the horse into doing anything it’s not ready for and it will never put its trust in a person ever again. Something that self proclaimed equine expert obviously doesn’t understand.
Something which can take just as long is developing the mutual trust between the horse and its rider - and that can’t be rushed either.
Those two were there just to gain attention for themselves not for any concern they may or may not have for the horses - otherwise they’d have quietly gone and spoken to someone who could have explained the training procedure to them rather than someone just filming the horses. Presumably they thought someone was sent out to check if there were any video makers around and if they weren’t there they all had the day off - no one would bother standing guard at all.
I’ve also read someone comment that “the guards have a choice, the horses don’t” which completely misunderstands the chain of command in the British armed forces. It’s the guard who doesn’t have a choice - he’s obeying orders. The horses, on the other hand, can & do have a choice and are taken back to the stables if, for whatever reason, it’s not in the mood for doing something completely alien to a horse such as “standing.”

I do have one question I hope somebody might be able to answer for me. The hard pavement/cement the horses are standing on can't be easy on their legs and hooves. Are they shoes with any special horse shoes that protect the horses from standing and parading on hard surfaces as frequent as these horses do?

Animal rights isn't a left vs right issue. Also breeding animals in captivity isn't justified by giving them medical care. That animals in the wild suffer is also no excuse to breed and exploit animals in captivity. I'm sorry mate but you had it totally wrong on this. Stick to filming the guards and leave the politics and getting triggered out of it.
