I used to build those, about 25-30yrs ago here in NH. Then pretty much all the tracks I raced at closed about the same time. I built a wire framed funnycar w/a 55' Chevy FC body w/a Super 16D motor that could beat Group 24 motored cars. Built a few wheelstanders and even a couple of rocket cars. Fun, but it can get expensive if you invest in a good hand controller and all the little things that add up.
My father introduced me to slot cars in the 60’s. In turn, I did the same with my boys (the hype never really left me) and recently turned my younger brothers boys onto slot cars. They are a fun thing for fathers/sons to do together.
Any type of racing is. I grew up driving asphakt round track cars and my dad worked on emm with me and built emm together i started racing full size cars when I was 9 in a 4 cylinder mustang ministock. And moved up from there. Im 30 stopped racing so i can get my life together so i can race again. But this is a fun hobby me and my dad got further apart over last 3 years with out racing and slot cars brought us back closer
That is crazy how fast they go. It looks like those guys put a lot of money into them. Always thought of slot cars as small trac on the living room floor not something like that.

My brother and I had the old Eldon drag set in the 60's we put two tracks together. Hours of fun for us and our friends. Sadly all slot tracks gone these days.
