Straightforward, hard rock, one of their top 10 compositions, in my opinion, that has all the elements that make Band Maid special. (Also with the previous iteration of their Maid outfits)

They got together organically.... and are NOT an "idol group" in any way, shape, or form.
I donât know, I think we all âIDOLISEâ themâŠâŠ. Ok, Iâm going to lie down in a darkened room for a few days.

They are the anti-idol!
Organically and using Google too!!! (That's how Miku found Kanami).
Best rock band on the planet. They play their own instruments, they write their own songs.
No, not idol, and not high school friends. Band-Maid is a Pigeon Project Production, Po. đïž

How Miku came up with "PIGEON" while riding a train - (The pigeon of Keihan express, the symbol of the Keihan Express is the pigeon head mark. The design which has been loved from 1952 is said to be from pigeons at the Ishishimizu-hachimangu temple which is on the lines area. The pigeon which is an agent of god is looking over the safety of the passengers.)
Welcome to band maid! The best hard rock band on the planet. (Imo of course)
To answer the questions, they are a hard rock band that formed in 2013 and are the same members now that they were in the beginning (basically, Iâll get to it)
They are not an idol band, but not entirely organically formed either. Story time: Miku (rhythm guitar, back up vocals) was in a tiny idol band but it wasnât the music she wanted to play, she quit that band and pitched the idea of band maid to her label. She worked at a maid cafe as well and thought it would be a cool look for a band. Management agreed to the idea and she began the search.
Miku found Kanami (lead guitar) online,l through covers she had done of other bands. Kanami joined and then recommended Akane (drums) who had done drums on some of her videos. Akane joined and recommended Misa (bass) who she knew from college. They started rehearsing and recording but Miku decided her voice wasnât right to be the lead, so they looked for an additional singer and tried out Saiki, who was also signed to the label and she joined. Now they had a whole band and they havenât changed since.
Their whole schtick is based on Maid Cafeâs. Their concerts are called âservingsâ, they call their fans âMasters and Princessesâ like maids in cafes do. They all wear maid outfits, though two of them have never been the biggest fans of it and their outfits are barely maid like anymore. The outfits change every year or so as they get worn out through use, they even have an âomajinai timeâ in concerts which is better explained later.
They do not scream, they are a hard rock band, but they dabble in lots of adjacent musical categories. Pop, punk, metal, blues, prog, etc. They are always pushing their own boundaries and growing, but they make sure whatever they do is excellent musically and to date have no bad songs, and after 140 or so, thatâs a bold claim. Good luck trying to find one that proves me wrong.
Band-Maid is an all woman band BABYMTEAL IS AN ALL MAN BAND WITH BABY GIRL SINGERS! NO COMPARISON đ
Band Maid self describes as a hard rock band. The whole range of rock, pop, punk, classic, emo, and hard. Definitely not idol, just an old fashion rock and roll band. 120+ song catalog, I consider over half as great. Certainly none are bad! A good showcase of their range is a 2 song in 1 video of Manners, and Black Hole. Bluesy rock to controlled chaos.
Welcome to Band-Maid! The best hard rock band I have heard in my 58 years on this planet. They don't stick to any one genre and often mix genres in songs. They are extremely diverse and have an extensive back catalogue featuring Punk, Pop-Punk, Hard-Rock, Classic Rock, Metal, Prog, Blues, Jazz, Groove, Rap etc. From face melting 220 bpm punk-prog to ballads, instrumentals to acoustics they do it all. They can make you headbang, they can make you pogo, they can make you cry like a baby. They are also five of the nicest people in music, without a shred of ego. They are funny and fun and world class musicians to boot. They are currently into their 11th year with the original line up.
Band-Maid calls themselves a "Impossibly Hard Rocking Maid Band" That sums it up! Five Japanese ladies that will rock your music world! Moral to this song is don't make the lead singer, Saiki, mad as she wrote the lyrics for this.
Okay, so another to check out is Domination, the official live version, Shambles, and yeah, this is the hole you'll wanna go down. Babymetal's sound is metal core, while Band Maid is more an eclectic blend of dirty rock-n-roll and other things. No growling, just beautifully executed singing.
Since you are interested in drums, I recommend âFREEDOMâ. It is recommended by an old man in Japan.

Preach it!!
Thank God no screaming. Just talent
BAND-MAID was formed organically and of their own volition.
Five professional musicians select their own members and sing and perform songs they wrote themselves.
They are a rare rock band in which all members are top-notch skilled.
They are the polar opposite of idol groups that are planned, set up and run by a company.
This song is not particularly hard among their works,
and they have a very wide range of musicality, playing harder and tighter songs as well as soft ballads and acoustic songs.
The Warning just arrived in Japan to prepare for their concert with BAND-MAID+.
They're a hard rock band who dips into various other things like metal, punk - even jazz - as and when they feel like it, so you're correct that they're not as heavy in general.
Miku - rhythm guitar and backing vocals founded the group. Got in touch with Kanami (lead guitarist) who she saw on CZcams and who in turn knew either Akane (drums) or Misa (bass) - I forget RN - who went to the Tokyo School of Music with the other. Et voila - Band-Maid was formed.
The final piece of the puzzle Saiki (vocals) joined after Miku thought her voice wasn't quite strong enough to be lead in a rock band (although like the boss she is she sings several songs solo all the same).
The maid thing is from Miku who used to work in a maid café and thought the image of maid combined with their hard rock sound would be a fun juxtaposition. A couple of the other ladies were less enthusiastic about it (Saiki and Misa) and so they do have maid outfits technically but they're not the sort that spring to mind instantly and don't really give off the vibe. They have of course changed their outfits down the years. Initially there were 5 maids, two of them with rather stoic expressions lol.
Organically formed and after the first couple of albums, write all their own music etc. I'd humbly suggest going down the B-M rabbit hole. It's an incredibly rewarding and fun one. They have plenty of songs to suit most tastes.
Band-Maid, while incorporating metal in many songs, and do have metal songs, are primarily a hard rock band. They have a lot of rock, punk, pop and metal, as well as prog sensibilities. They don't have a specific subgenre because their variety is immeasurable compared to their contemporaries.
Very well said!
Comparing BabyMetal with BAND-MAID just because they are Japanese is like comparing the Beatles with Iron Maiden because they are English. The only thing they have in common is their nationality and that time will also make them Legends.
Yea it's just because I got the request from my babymetal videos. So thought they would be similar. But they definitely are not hahađ
They are rock and roll guardian angels and the best hard rock band on this planetđ€Keep an eye on them!!
Here's a guide to everything BAND-MAID: www.youtube.com/@Ohrenje, enjoy!
Ohrenje is a godsend to anyone interested in learning more about BandMaid. He is reworking the biographical documentaries he's done to improve them. Professionally done they are outstanding!
Well the bands founder was Miku (red rose guitar/vocals/main lyricist) who at one time was in a minor idol group called Lil Cumin with 2 other girls, but that only lasted a couple years before they broke up. While she was living in Tokyo, she had worked at maid cafe's. She thought the idea of a band playing cool rock music with the maid aesthetic would be a great example of "the gap". The difference in what you see and then your surprised at what you hear. As far as the formation of the band..... Kanami (lead guitar/main music arranger) was second to join after being recruited after she was found doing videos of her playing on the internet. Next came Akane (drums), she was someone that Kanami had played with before. The bass player, MISA, was brought in because Akane knew her from the music school that they both attended. The band was all set as a 4-piece with Miku as the lone vocalist. After a couple of shows, Miku decided she didn't have the proper voice to front the band. She stepped back as they searched for a new vocalist, enter Saiki, who was signed by the same agency as the band. Now they decided they needed another guitar player; Miku then began her journey into learning how to play the guitar under the tutelage of Kanami. This MV was shot at their 10th Anniversary show at Yokohama Arena back in November 2023 in front of @ 12,000 people. The okyu-ji (what the band calls their concerts, it translates to "servings" to go with the maid theme) was an incredible 3 hour 40 minute marathon of 33 songs. It was EPIC! đ€
You dont just 'find' this. These are serious practised musicians. Masters of their craft.
No screaming. A little rap though. This from another post:
"Band-Maids Genre is Band-Maid. Rock, Metal, Pop, Alt, Prog, Punk, with Jazz and Blues for sprinkles. Different is another song they wrote for an anime.
Miku Kobato: Red rose, Rhythm guitar and backup vocals. Started the band. Started guitar when the first 4 members decided she shouldn't sing lead. She found
Kanami Tono: Lead guitarist, main composer. She worked with and is friends with
Akane Hirose: Drummer extraordinaire. Akane attended the Tokyo School of music and did some work with
MISA: Bad ass barefoot bass assassin. She likes her whisky! Together these four played a few sets before they decided they needed a stronger singer. Enter
Saiki Atsumi: The Queen." She's the youngest member. They are NOT an Idol group. and in many portrayals of houses with maids, the woman in charge would wear a black dress.
Together they have around 125 songs and just celebrated 10 years together.
great reaction vid!
the Leader Miku worked at a maid cafe then envisioned forming a band with a sort of maid motif in mind from what I remember.
Welcome, J-Swag. You are embarking on (along with many others - over 200 million YT views plus over 40 million reactor plays!) an awesome, progressive, hard-rock journey with 5 incredible women. Here's my intro blurb for those who may be new to Band-Maid:
BAND-MAIDâs songs and sound beat with the heart and soul of all rockers. But youâll also hear heavy influences of Prog, Punk, Metal and Pop, with nice touches of Blues, Jazz, Funk and Grunge. Sometimes they use multiple genres within the same song. Their Composition, Execution, Joy of Playing, Consistency (130+ songs), Uniqueness, Charisma, Charm and, oh yeah, Cuteness factor, position them as becoming the hard rock Beatles of our time! In other words, theyâre destined for mega-stardom.
Each member's personalities are super interesting and their musicianship among the best. Their writing, arrangements and overall sound, especially guitar tones and drums, are kick-ass! Having seen them LIVE, I can honestly say their performance, sound, stage appearance, and band synergy is off-the-rails spectacular!
Band-Maid is the only band in decades where I love nearly EVERY song theyâve done. I have over 70 favorites! "Thrill" (2014) is a great place to start: czcams.com/video/Uds7g3M-4lQ/video.html Their songs from albums Unleash, Unseen World, Conqueror, World Domination, Just Bring It, Brand New Maid, and New Beginning drive even more - Hate?, Shambles, Influencer, Warning, No God, Different, Black Hole, Rinne, Blooming, Moratorium, Domination, Clang, Dice, Spirit, Donât You Tell Me, Turn Me On, Fate, Play, Hide-And-Seek, Secret My Lips, Puzzle, Choose Me, I Canât Live Without You, and on and on.
But donât miss out on their powerful, beautifully written, mid-tempo songs like Daydreaming, Bestie, About Us, Memorable, Anemone, Endless Story, PAGE, At The Drop Of A Hat, Mirage and Smile... or more punky like After Life, Donât Let Me Down and Screaming⊠or funky like Bubble⊠or bluesy like Manners and The Dragon Cries⊠or poppy like Start Over⊠or a bit jazzy like Wonderland⊠or progressive like No God, Giovanni, and Black Hole⊠or cultural like the Band-Maiko series⊠or instrumentals like From Now On, Donât Be Long, Onset, Without Holding Back and Going Nuts⊠or their many acoustic versions like Catharsis and Sayonakidori... and last but not least, their Anime hits (AniMaid) like Sense, Glory and Unleash!!!!! (from their own Anime MV (series?)): czcams.com/video/7LB_EPS48HE/video.html)
And many songs are represented with over 50 well produced music videos. czcams.com/users/BANDMAID

Like most Band-Maid songs, I like them from the get-go but really start to appreciate them after more hearings and seeing their LIVE videos. Band-Maid Members:
Saiki Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) âStarQueen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. At 30 and the youngest, âSenseiâ (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions. High-heels or sneakers, Sai-chanâs smile melts away her sometimes perceived, coldish persona. Saikiâs powerhouse performances, charisma, and voice focus the experience thatâs driven her to the top echelon of hard rock frontwomen... or frontmen!
Miku Kobato (Me-Ku) "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals, lyricist, 32 years old. âKobaâ, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR SpokesPigeon, po! Her âMagic Spell Timeâ charm and energy ignite the room. Kuruppo! No, no, no⊠KURUPPO!!
Kanami Tono (Ka-Na-Me) âPrincessâ - Lead guitar, keyboards, 32 years old, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates âSong Waveâ) is a possessed riff-slayer whoâs so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want from Mincho is more!
Akane Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, 33 years old, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achiâs talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) while revolutionizing rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This âDrumZillaâ is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa) "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass, 31 years old. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami, off-stage MISA is the bandâs goofball ballerina. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it⊠every note... uniting Band-Maidâs world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappinâ begin⊠MISA! MISA! MISA!

The Maids are one of the hardest working supergroups in the business! Their music, their sound, each of the Maids, and the love that permeates their live events is an experience not to be missed. Hope you can catch them LIVE!
Fate brought these ladies together. No better way to explain it, but they were meant to be. I've seen them in the US and was in Japan for the Day of Maid show 3 weeks ago. Their talent is a beautiful thing. Japan has so much to offer in Rock, Metal, Prog and all women. Nemophila has harsh and clean vocals and musically shreds. Lovebites is more old school power Metal and host the greatest guitar duo on the planet. Hanabie has harsh and cleans, heavy AF with some techno mixed in. Truly jaw dropping. I'm a big babymetal fan as well and this has been the greatest rabbit hole I've ever encountered
Thanks from Japan æéŁăđă I am a big fan of Band-Maid and BABYMETAL both. I witnessed this very performance at the venue on Nov.26, last year. Very exciting 3-hour-40-minute-long show with 33-song setlist. (Happy fatigue thereafter đ)
Band Maid is more like Hard Rock with some Metal and Punk Rock elements and was founded originally by Miku the girl with purple hair they are not an idol band.
BAND-MAID leans toward hard rock so their songs are more earwormish. There's really nothing to compare to BAND-MAID as they are unique unto themselves. Check out FROM NOW ON and you'll see what I mean. Drum solo? Check out FREEDOM-LIVE. Everyone gets their turn to shine in BAND-MAID as they are without ego. Keep going and be rewarded. đ„đ„đ„đ„đ„Peace. 1.32
"We're not going to make comparisons with Babymetal, i'm just going to make some small comparisons with Babymetal along the way".đ€Ł Stylish insight :)
âFrom now onâ is an amazing composition! Itâs an instrumental, so no lyrics to distract from the amazing musicianship !
Welcome to the World of Band-Maid. Thanks for the reaction and comments. These ladies are arguably the best live rock band on the planet. Spend a little time getting to know the individual members and you'll soon be a lifelong fan aka Maidiac. If you want a drum solo, check out Freedom (official live video). Band-Maid was formed organically. They are all original members. Here's a shortlist of recommended songs: Moratorium, Domination, No God, Play, Puzzle, Different (all live videos)...Shambles, Without Holding Back, Blooming, Dice, Influencer (MVs). Cheers!
Think about the outfits as if they're a MAID-CAFE:
ââââââââ⊠Hostess - Saiki - Spanish Maid - singer 1A
ââââââââ⊠Waitstaff - Miku - French Maid - singer 1B - rhythm guitar
ââââââââ⊠Waitstaff - Kanami - French Maid - lead guitar
ââââââââ⊠Barkeep - Misa - Ninja Maid - bass
ââââââââ⊠Chef - Akane - Pageboy Maid - drums
Please note that it's been pointed out that Akane loves to eat and Misa loves to drink so there will be no food or booze left at this particular restaurant.
I like that particular training method. Well done.
This an excellent analogy! I am adding it to my comments when explaining to others about the outfits. I don't get why the outfits are an issue with anyone. AC/DC had the school boy outfit - KISS had the makeup - Alice Cooper and Ozzie had their thing too. Many more as well. BAND MAID doesn't mention the outfits (except in the Yokohama concert MIKU mentions the new design) it sets them apart from all the others - I wouldn't even call it a gimmick. MIKU calls it the GAP.
@@joeking6763 They help with getting people to check them out but once you hear them it doesn't matter.
Band-Maid are without a doubt the Queens of Rock but the Goddesses of Metal is undoubtedly LoveBites who are another amazing all female Japanese Band with 2 world class shredders!
Watch Band Maid's FREEDOM live if you want a drum solo. Check out Lovebites (all female) if you want power metal shredding Baby Metal is a corporate entity. Miku Kobato (rhythm guitar) started the group and they formed organically, no corporate B.S. They have a huge catalog and can play anything they want to play. The Maidiacs will fill you in. Yes, they can get heavier.
Finally been waiting for you to check out Band Maid. Check out Thril, Dice, unleash, manners, influencer, dont tell me, besties, and Shambles, they do instrumentals and they kicked ass at lalapolooza. Your Channel is awesome bro keep it up.

Welcome to the fandom! â„ these girls!
I suggest these BM songs: Thrill, Dice, Manners, Bubble, No God (live) & Puzzle (live)
I also suggest The Warning - another all female rock band from Mexico
I suggest these TW songs: Money, Sick, Automatic Sun, Enter Sandman (official video with Alessia Cara), Evolve (live VMAs) & Dust To Dust (live Teatro)
Comparing Band Maid to an idol group is like comparing bananas to automobiles.
Or the Beatles with the monkees
For drums, Freedom live

You have two choice Join or JOIN PO! Rock and roll isn't dead. It's played by little Japanese girls now. Take a bite of LOVEBITES for more metal shredding.
Thanks so much for shearing!
Their genre is band-maid and hard or heavy rock band.
They said ``We are not metal``
I recommend next song from now on.
They have 100over songs.
Welcome to Band-Maid. Band-Maid is the genre. They are self described as a hard rocking Rock Band. They mix and match genres at will, often in the same song. Many, many, many more awesome songs to react to. Enjoy the ride. PO!đ đ€đđ€
Hej JWAG,
welcome to the world of Band-Maid.
Glad to have you on this journey.
Any Maids track always ROCKS as they come for your soul. The ladies are in their early 30s now and have been rocking for almost 10 years with plenty of Solo work from Misa and Kanami. The great thing is they always look so happy.
Try Thrill the track that blew them up on the world stage, after a slow start it suddenly went viral outside of Japan (the label was about drop them when this happened in 2015), Freedom, Onset, From now on, Without Holding Back, Hate? Are all great tracks and they have an extensive back catalogue (130 plus tracks all great servings).
Welcome Masters and Princesses to the 5 Band-Maid members:
SAIKI Atsumi (Sy-i-Key or Psyche) âIce Queen" - Lead vocals, arrangements and melodies. The youngest, âSenseiâ (Teacher) as band members call her, has the last word on many musical decisions.
MIKU Kobato (Me-Ku), "Small Pigeon" - Rhythm guitar, vocals and lyricist. âKobaâ, as Saiki calls her, is the Band founder and a firecracker MC & PR Spokes Pigeon. I believe she couldnât play when she formed the band and was tutored by Kanami.
KANAMI Tono (Ka-Na-Me) âPrincessâ - Lead guitar, keyboards, is a prolific writer of most Band-Maid material. Kanami (translates âSong Waveâ) is a possessed riff-slayer whoâs so damn adorable it hurts. The only thing you want is more!
AKANE Hirose (A-Ka-Nay) "Gorilla" - Drums, band energizer & co-clown with MISA. Achiâs talents include massive consumption of noodles and bananas, of course, (even during performance!) rock drumming with relentless drive, dynamics and the kick. This âDrumZillaâ is the Party!
MISA (Me-Sa), "Barefoot Assassin" - Bass. An alluring free spirit driving her 5-string to rapturous low-ends while pulling off surprising counter leads with Kanami. Sometimes seen as the Mysterious One because she lets her instrument do the talking, the Assassin literally kills it⊠every note uniting Band-Maidâs world-class rhythm section. A slug of JB, a slight grin, and let the slappinâ begin⊠MISA! MISA!
Great rock band. As far as all female, Nemophila and Hanabie are on the metalcore side with both clean and unclean vocals where Maximum the Hormone likely had a big influence. Then there are also power metal bands with clean vocals like Lovebites. The idol stuff is usually exploitative mainstream pop and Baby Metal are not typical.
Band-Maid isn't metal. They are hard rock, with a bit of punk mixed in. The band formed organically. The rhythm guitarist had worked in a maid cafe and thought it would be a cool dichotomy to have a group of maids playing hard rock. She found the guitarist, who knew the drummer, who knew the bassist, etc...
Exactly... Band-Maid is metal-capable (there's a video going around of them screwing around in the studio covering a Slipknot piece), but they'd rather take an occasional metal riff and put it under something like a pop chorus that makes for something better than if they'd just done one or the other. Why adhere to the rules of a genre when you can rise above?
IMO - they're kinda band that does lotsa genres of rock
Band-Maid is whatever they feel like playing honestly... Some songs are straight up traditional Heavy Metal and a lot songs have Metal elements in it. I know some people hate having that association added to Band-Maid, but it's true... Not all forms of Metal have screaming vocals and repetitive riffs and such which seems to be what everyone thinks Metal is now a days.
@@Bekka_Noyb And Metal is a Sub-Genre of Rock by definition, so I agree with that statement 100%
There's a 7 part documentary about Band-Maid on CZcams it's High quality start with "Miku pt 1. Band-Maid Documentary" they are organically formed
You just found the best band on the planet
Nice job! You asked for suggestions. These are all Japanese bands.
Band-Maid: Keep going! More awesome hard rock with classic and metal influences.
Nemophila: If you want some banshee screaming sprinkled in with nu/modern-ish heavier music.
Lovebites: Classic / power metal with operatic vocals.
Hanabie: Lots more screaming mixed with kawaii vocals.
They all defy genre. Have fun!
In fact Japan's heavy metal/hard rock scene is largely dominated by female bands. You may also want to try the groups Lovebites, Hanabie, Gacharic Spin and Nemophilia to name just a few of many.
Best rock (not metal) band on the planet, although they do have some more metal-esque songs (Rinne, Shambles, etc.) 130+ songs to dive into, take your pick on which one to listen to next (preferably a live performance although their music videos are also great. For a drum solo, try 'Freedom'.
As youâll find out, most Japanese high schoolers play in an after school band. Sometimes they learn there, other times they can already play an instrument. Hence, by the time they are college-aged they are ready to become professionals.
How do you find Japanese girls who can shred like this? They are all over Japan An incredible wealth of musical talent there. Band-Maid, Nemophila, Lovebites, Hanabie and others are putting a majority of the western music world to shame. Dive deeper, it only get's more impressive.

It's a mix. The rythm guitarrist went with the band idea to the management firm and they put together the band. Luckily the lead guitarist knew the drummer, and she in turn knew the bassist. So everything was done under the management but in turn some of them knew each other.
Band-Maid have been together and working incredibly hard for ten years now.
There is a YT video of their appearance on the TV show Music Gold Rush with English subtitles which tells the story of how they came together and gives a great insight into their quirky personalities etc.
Their story and their art truly inspire me.

Everyone who recommends Band Maid should state the basic facts to new reactors. They are a rock band. Often hard rock, bordering into actual metal at times, but not a metal band. Letâs make sure reactors know what to expect, and what not to.
I always state hard rock/metal because they would have been considered metal back in the day. IMO đșđ„Žđ€đ»
@@RogerChance3902Absolutely, but these days, no way. It just has been driving me crazy hearing everyone saying theyâre reacting to a new metal band. Like 98% of the time! I also realize that I really need to let it go, for my own peace of mind đ .
â@interstellardave I guess we could form a support group to lower our angst. I need to let it go.
Since Babymetal and Atarashii Gakko reactions (that I know just a liiiiiitle bit of info before seeing your reactions), this is the first time that I'm watching and discovering a new group and new music to hear. The only BAND-MAID music that I had heard before was "Sense" (indeed, this is also a suggestion lol), because it's a opening theme of an anime (Platinum End) I watched (and this song is on my playlist to this day)
BabyMetal and Band Maid are traveling in two different musical lanes. Band Maid, as you noticed, has more of the classic hard rock vibe. However, they are more progressive, with complex arrangements and import DNA from multiple genres. I call them âHard Rock Fusionâ
No, they don't scream...well, the Pigeon does shriek sometimes. For All-female Japanese scream vocals, try Hanabie, Nemophila, Saiseiga.
Try East of Eden (This moment) - Lovebites (The hammer of wrath) - Gacharic Spin (I wish I) - all Japanese and all rock - Enjoy
Nice reaction greeting from germany
Ist ja auch ein geiler Song! Seit der Veröffentlichung, mein tĂ€gliches Abendbrot! LOL! GrĂŒĂe aus Hamburg, Benâ€đ
The only connection between the two bands is that some members of bandmaid hang with members of the Kamiband. Because they are each among the best musicians in Japan.
You like screaming? How about Hanabie...or Nemophila....or LoveBites.....Pretty sure you'll enjoy these all female metal bands....great reaction and enjoyed watching that smile form once they started shredding, soloing and doing other Bandmaid stuff....lol
All talented bands! I am not a fan of screaming/growling, so Band Maid is perfect for me đ
Band Maid is fantastic, but if you like true metal sound, check out also LOVEBITES, an other amazing all female japanese band
great react, happy to seee that you liked it, first band maid are more a punk/hard rock band, few song are more heavy and they are all good. Band maid exist sinc now 10 years and Miku (the purple hair girl) is the founder of the band. the story of the band is great, If you want to know more about them, It have a documentory about each member (3 for the founder) very interresting
Band-Maid is the gift that keeps on giving. Don't try to pin down their "genre" - it's completely impossible because they can literally play anything - and do. You'll find that their songs are very repeatable in your private listening because there is so much going on you'll hear new stuff every time. They do have a few simpler hard grooving songs, or beautiful ballads. One of the many awesome things about them is that their fan base is also very diverse. They just make great music, full freaking stop.
Check out The Warning, 3 sisters from Mexico and Rock's next power trio. They and Band Maid are fans of each other and are doing a show together in Japan soon. Lizzy Hale of Halestorm is also a huge fan of theirs. Their performance of their original "Evolve" from the 2023 MTV VMA's is a good example of their music. their studio recordings are great but they're better live. Anything from the Aug. 2022 show at Teatro Metropolitan CDMX is good, especially considering they're performing at 7200 Feet above sea level. Be advised their fans, known as The Warning Army (TWA), are fiercely loyal but also very supportive to reactors and will overwhelm you with background info and suggestions. "You have been warned!" đ
We always direct our Maid reactors to The Warning please do the same for the Maids. đșđ
It's not hyperbole when I say you could literally pick any song.
Here are some good songs from Band Maid ( in no particular order):
Honkai, brand new road, start over, order, alone, Arcadia girl, choose me, why why why, chemical reaction, don't apply the brake, shake that, glory, Beauty and the beast, don't you tell me, bubble, daydreaming, different, don't let me down, the nonfiction days, moratorium, cross, take me higher, time, secret my lips, fate, Rock in me, clang, turn me on, wonderland, bubble, the dragon cries, warning, blooming, no god, afterlife, hgk, Giovanni, from now on, corallium, influencer, shambles, before yesterday, I still seek revenge, freezer, reincarnation(rinne)
"How do you find a group of Japanese girls who can just shred..." Actually....Most of the popular Rock/Metal scene in Japan is dominated by girl bands or female fronted bands. Band-Maid is classified more as hard rock. However they do use elements from other genre's. Baby-Metal is a 1 of 1 unique situation, so trying to compare them to the rest of the Metal scene will not work very well. Majority of the J-Metal/Rock scene is traditional band layouts with 4-5 members all playing instruments. And in some cases you will find multiple vocalists as well.
Yeah, if one wants a group of all Japanese women playing more typical metal, there's:
Hanabie
Lovebites
Bridear
Nemophila (super group of Japanese metal women)
All of whom are outstanding.
Very cool!!!
Babymetal, Nemophila, Lovebites, Band Maid, Unlucky Morpheus, Gacharic Spin, Wagakki Band. You will certainly like what you see. If possible, always check the live show versions.
Thanks for reacting to the greatest hard rock band in the world. I know a lot of the Maidiacs are going to get heated about the BabyMetal comparisons but it's normal to compare things to what we know. I do like BabyMetal but they're completely different. The Maids are their own genre and fuse many styles into their music. The pigeon-hole is very deep Po.
Okay, names, pronunciation, nicknames, and roles, in order that they joined the band.
Miku Kobato - mee-koo - Kuruppo, the Little Pigeon, the Little Engine Who Will - band founder, backing (and occasionally lead) vocals, rhythm guitar, principal lyricist, tireless Spokespigeon and PR machine. Wielder of weapons grade cuteness. Poker shark and horse racing fanatic. So determined to see her band succeed that she fired herself as lead singer (she decided her voice wasn't strong enough for hard rock), then went looking for a replacement. Learned to play guitar after the band was formed. Definitely eccentric, possibly insane.
Kanami Tono - kah-nah-mee - Kanamincho or just Mincho - lead guitar, keyboards, principal composer and arranger. On stage, she's a savant mad riffer with a room temperature IQ and a huge crush on Saiki. In reality, she's a genius, and not just musically- she has a degree in economics with honors. A sweet, motherly woman who turns into a beast when you hand her a guitar.
Akane Hirose - ah-kah-neh - A-chan, the Gorilla - drums, sequencing, snacks, the leader the band doesn't have. What you see is what you get- a cheerful jock with a huge appetite who burns off the calories murdering her drums. Completely unflappable. Frequently snacks between songs. Has been known to sign her banana peels and throw them to the audience.
MISA - mee-sah - the Barefoot Assassin, MISA MISA MISA! - bass, booze, occasional wet work. Usually stone faced. Barely acknowledges the audience's existence. Always has a beer or a bottle of Jim Beam on her Orange amp. Originally, these were ways of coping with stage fright. These days, that's just how the assassin rolls.
Saiki Atsumi - sah-ee-kee (but Psyche is close enough) - the Ice Queen, Sensei, Sai-chan - lead vocals, some lyrics, the "We're done" girl. Fashionista and train nerd. Regards her band mates, especially Kanami and Miku, with bemused exasperation. In total command on stage; hides behind Miku off stage (she's actually kind of shy).
Like, para solo de bateria mirate el video de Freedom en directo lo fliparasđ€
I am going to be a bit snarky here. First, take your comparison with Babymetal out of your mind. Babymetal is an IDOL metal band. The thre girls were HIRED by a management company and they use session musicians (all amazing highest caliber musicians). By the way, the Kami band members are friends with the members of Band-Maid.
Band-Maid was formed by Miku (Rhy g); they were formed organically. They write all their songs. They have complete control of their musical expression, unlike Babymetal.
I do like listening to the Kami band.
They claim themselves as a Hard Rock band. But they play almost every genre related to Rock. Oh you said drum solo? Go check their FREEDOM live from their channel. đ€
Thereâs a cool song Screaming.
Drum solo, you said? "Freedom" (LIVE), I say đ â€
It's not that heavy but fun ... and much joy on stage!
Other live bangers are "Real Existence" and "Moratorium".
Band Maid is classic hard rock with many influences. They are not idol but a naturaly formed band (by Miku, the second vocalist)
đ€đ€
Babymetal and Bandmaid have one thing in common, and that's that they both make me happy and smile. Both are incredible, in different ways, but the standard is the same.
Idol Group? No. ...and yes. The band's founder, Miku Kobato, was a refugee from a failed Idol trio. She had been paying the bills working at a Maid Cafe, and thought that a cute maid band that played hard rock might have some shock value and be memorable. She pitched the idea to Platinum Passport, a talent agency that was successful at promoting Idol Groups. They gave her the green light, told her to start recruiting a band, and they would advertise auditions for musicians. Miku scoured the internet looking for a cute girl who could play a mean lead guitar and found Kanami Tono, talked to her and got her to join. Kanami had been making demos with drummer Akane Hirose and she recruited Akane into the group. Akane's college schoolmate and buddy Misa, was bass player in a band that was breaking up and Akane convinced her to audition. When they started rehearsing Miku realized that her voice wasn't up to the power trio she had recruited and the auditioned for a lead vocalist, deciding on Saiki Atsumi, who had recently moved to Tokyo.
So, Akane was friends with both the bass and guitar players prior to joining Band-Maid, making the group both organic and put together. This was in 2013 and the first year was pretty rough: they almost got cancelled.
There are many other Japanese bands, many of them all female, that are definitely of the "hard metal" genre - most people start with Lovebites.

You should check out hanabie!
Think you'd better do a little bit of research on Japanese bands before you manage to piss everyone off đ€Ł
Band Maid are one of MANY brilliant all-female Japanese bands who are currently taking the world of Rock / Metal by storm . IMHO Band Maid are at the top of the tree as far as Rock bands go !
Some of the other Japanese Rock / Metal bands ( mostly all-female ) worth a listen -

THE best Hard Rock band on Earth. PS There's no need to split the screen or have the volume so low or not pause it to speak or in fact make any adjustments to Band-Maid MV's as they are totally fine with people reacting to them. ( ie, they're not Amuse, Babymetal's company, who pursue and block their videos).
That's awesome! AMUSE gives me nightmaresđ€
@@j-swagjr I thought that maybe you'd had experience of them! Just about all the other superb Japanese bands don't mind reactions at all - Band-Maid, Lovebites, AHanabie, Asterism, Ningen Isu and others are all cool with reactions.
You are correct- Baby Metal are a dancing vocal group with a backing band. Was your video screen split deliberately? I realise that you don't know the history of band-Maid, but an idol group, they are not. Good first reaction- Thanks
Yea it was to avoid copyright, but apparently Band-Maid doesn't copyright so that's good to know.
When dinosaurs roamed the Earth there was a bunch of music called rock and roll. It branched out into all kinds of flavors. BandMaid can produce all the flavors at will. But overall this is rock and roll music. It is not heavy metal as you pointed out. Jethro Tull is not metal even though they beat out Metallica for the Heavy Metal Grammy in 1989. So confusion about rock, good ole rock and roll, being called metal is because most people alive have never seen a proper rock band in concert. You seem to be enjoying their music! FREEDOM live has a drum solo. Thanks for reacting!
Welcome to the BandMaid experience! The greatest proper rock and roll band of the 21st century. Here's some opinions and facts:
âąBass solos are more likely to happen than not. There's a bass solo on their very first video!
âąGuitar solos are shorter, far shorter than you would like them to be
âąUnless you are superhuman, you will not/ can not be able to pick up everything they're doing to make that song great on the first listen.
âąGenre? Genres?? We don' need no stinkin" genre!
âąYou like a hard rocking crazy fast tune? Well how about it done as a slower acoustic version? They do that.
âąApril Fools Day 2019
As a joke they recorded a redo of Secret my Lips with traditional instruments and with lyrics in a Kyoto dialect. MV is stunningly beautiful.
âąThe linchpin member of the band gets the least notice/praise. The Mighty Miku Kobato founder/lead singer fires herself as lead for a new more hard rock vocalist. Why? It makes the band better. They want her to hold a guitar so she does and learns to play on the fly, performing all the while she's learning. So the person who willed the band into existence, who is the primary lyricist, the only member who sings and plays an instrument most of the time gets the least comments from reactors. Oh yeah she has her own signature model guitar from Zematis (after playing less than 10 yr.
âąBandMaid has been together for over a decade with the same line up. Think about that.
âąMore hooks, riffs and motifs in many songs than most bands have on an album. Check it out. No hyperbole.
âąUse of puns, wordplay using homophones between Japanese and English are not the exception. They are typical of Kobato's lyrics.
âąDespite the fact that their LIVE videos are superior to the official studio MV"s the latter are excellent. Funny, graphic, innovative and stunningly beautiful works of art describe what you get with BandMaid's official MV's.
âąAs close to the Beatles in terms of unique persona of the members as any group since the Monkees. MISA is quiet and drinks. Akane is happy and eats, Miku is klutzy and CUTE, Kanami is an airhead who crushes on Saiki and Saiki was the Ice Queen. But the Ice Queen has thoroughly thawed. See Yokohama's Endless Story! Their image is carefully crafted or spontaneous or both.
âąMany songs have catch phrases or singalong sections to engage the audience. Many songs are in English and Japanese. Most songs are full of joy as well.
âąThey're having a ball. They enjoy performing. They enjoy the fans. They enjoy each other.
âąMake no mistake, this is not a regular band.
No Idol group here, Just the best band on the planet. And thatâs past, present and foreseeable future. They have 100+ songs. Not a rabbit-hole, but a pigeon hole! The back up singer, lyricist and founder, Miku, is also known as Lil Pigeon. I LOVE BAND MAIDâ€â€.
Drum solo: Freedom (live). Just sayin'
You need dive deeper into Japanese rock and metal. There is a plethora of all female bands that write amazing music and are phenomenal musicians.
when you get into bands like maximum the hormone, lovebites, hanabie (other metal bands) you will quickly realize that you don't need to compare babymetal to anyone. they are themselves; band maid are themselves and everyone else are themselves. I don't go around comparing guns n roses to Metallica. I used to like them both in their own way
Shame i cant compare band maid to anything in america because for the last decade or so ive only been listening to music from japan. Nothing really in the west caught my attention.
Starting to feel the same way, the Japanese stuff I've been listening to is top tier.
