    It's lovely to see this bus.I drove RTs and Routemasters on this actual route based in Wandsworth garage. Our 28 route went from Wandsworth plain to Golders green Via Fulham, Kensington. Westboourne park, Kilburm, West Hampstead and finally Golders green. The route took about 2 hours there and back depending on traffic and was my favourite route to drive and they were my favourite buses..I have driven other buses for London Transport including the DMS but for me the Regent 111 and the Routemasters were the best..Oh and that preselected gearbox on the RT doesn't take long to get used to and the third pedal is not a clutch but a control pedal..You just had to press it with your foot and release it...you did not have to let it out slowly..It worked in a different way to a clutch.
    P.S. I love these Sunstar models and I own both the Regent 111 and the Routemaster.

    That's a tough question - they're both pretty cool. These things look great parked next to each other. I'm not too familiar with the individual routes, so if one has a particular historical importance to you, that's the one to grab.
    Thanks for watching!

    My Dad drove the RT and the iconic Routemaster for 28 years - Then I also drove the RM and both buses were so advanced at that time. over 500 Routemasters still survive and most in private ownership. Check out Routemaster here on CZcams and you will be pleasantly surprised.

    @ArcadeGames Thanks for checking it out!
    There are a couple of 1:18 buses planned for release soon - actually, they're race car transporters - but they're going to be BIG.
    Thanks again for watching. Check out our show on Saturday nights at 7PM Eastern at the Car Room web site.

    Lodge plugs are combustionl engine spark plugs, lodge also manufactured aircraft sparking plugs in the 1930s. Great video of a great model -well reviewed.

    Just a quick line to say that the bit at the back which I think you described as a pay booth is in fact the stowage area for childs buggies etc. This model had a driver and a "Clippy" or conductor. They walked up and down the bus issuing tickets and assisting with people getting on and off at the back. They where called clippies because they clipped checked tickets.

      Thanks for the correction - I'm hoping to get a ride in one of these, some day. What a great looking machine! Thanks for watching.

      They were meant as a recess for the clippies to stand out of the way. They gave up the space to luggage etc as required.

      There's actually one SunStar bus model based on the RTL, that one depicting RTL501 the only Leyland RT bus delivered from new with a roofbox body.

    Great RT 3 but is this one on sale in the UK and if so, where can I get this one from and how much is the best price to pay on this model.

    • @Thecarroom
      @Thecarroom  Před 10 lety

      Hello, Christopher!
      I'm not certain if this release is still available, but I do believe that Sunstar has done others based on this same mold set. In the US, these models went for close to $100.00 when new. I think your best bet might be to try eBay or some other avenue if this is the exact model you like; stockists might have sold out by now.
      On the plus side, it's a great model! Well worth poking around for. This particular example now resides in my dear friend's office.
      Thanks a lot for watching, and for taking the time to comment.

    • @Thecarroom
      @Thecarroom  Před 10 lety

      Hi - sorry for the delay. Though these are a different scale, they can still display in a collection of 1:18. I'd suggest keeping them separate, though - the size difference will be really noticeable. Thanks for watching!
