Working In Frigid Conditions

- Hey guys. Well it is -30 and getting even colder It is hard working in these frigid conditions but the chores still need to be done. We constantly need to keep gathering firewood to keep our home warm as our main source of heat is from the wood stove. I remembered that we have many unsplit logs behind our old wood shed which are ready to burn once they dry out a bit from sitting out in the snow, so wanted to do a video to show you that.

Oh wow you're having a winter wonderland there. It's cold & windy here. No snow only a little rain yesterday. I'd love some snow. I love how your dog digs in the snow 😊❤ thanks for sharing
Thanks for visiting
You are both brave to fight against the extreme cold. 👍
What a winter wonderland you have with cold weather, then you need a lot of wood to burn with, luckily you have trees to take of. Yes, you help each other. Hugs from us, Britt o Gunnar.
Küllike is a video stuntwoman pulling the log wagon. I can’t even imagine being outside in that temp. I went to the grocery store earlier, it’s 50°F here, I thought I would freeze to death. 😂
Haha. You are a weather wimp. Just kidding
@@rdreamhomestead1451 I am a weather wimp for sure! 🥶
More rationale for a heated garage - to thaw out your fire logs! I never had considered such before, revelation!😂 You two are a great team ❤ You also inspire me, I was shovelling in -13C today, that's no big deal for you Saskies. At least the cold snow is lighter weight powder, not the awful heavy "Cascades Concrete". Blizzard tomorrow and colder next few days but in 10 days should be less cold. I laugh at Sunny Boy surveilling from the screen room, he is such an energetic character. Enjoyed the visit 💚❤
Yeah, it is fairly cold everywhere in the west and so brutal up here in Canada.
hi-dennis-and-kullke-and-kassie-its-nice-to-see-you-thank-you-for-this-nice-vido
Is it also cold where you are, Richard?
Hope you stay warm!
The wood stove is pumping out nice heat and the propane is too
Oh wow that is no joke. Good find. Now we are back at 0 degrees Celsius, but we had -7C the past two days, and for us that is substantially cold. I have been inside large commercial freezers, and that was not even as cold as it is out there. Stay safe and warm out there 👍
It was -49 somewherw in Yukon, Canada this morning. It is terrible cold all over western Canada
@@rdreamhomestead1451 Holy smokes. That is really dangerous cold. Can't imagine what that would feel like. And I am not eager to find that out either 😁
Don't stay outside too long Dennis and Kullike. And Kassie too. Her paws will freeze. When I walked my Golden in these cold snowy days, I put doggy boots on him. At first he walked funny😅, then he got used to them. He loved romping and rolling a lot in the snow esp fresh snowfall. Yeah the news says the Temps out west are very cold. You are right Dennis, moving keeps you warm. I get sweaty shoveling and going for long walks. The walks are nice as long as there's no blizzard and blustery strong winds blowing, like today. It looks so beautiful there with all the white crispy snow. When I'm up north , Kirkland Lake area, the Temps are like where you are, however I love the walks because I find I'm not as chilled as in the city in the South which can create dampness even if Temps are not as cold as up north. Will your fireplace hold these big logs?? Mine wood stove up north holds smaller logs. Love a cozy fire. And a nice hot drink.❤
We are always very careful with Kassie and only let her out to do business or a few minutes here and there if I need to bring firewood to the house. We tried to put booties on her but just chews them off . Next pup will be trained from little to wear them if it helps. I saw it was -49 in Watson lake Yukon last night. Here it was -32 but in Saskatoon I seen -40 this morning. The whole province cancelled the school buses today as Windchill was over -45. We had such a mild November and December and hope it gets back to that soon. Haha. Our stove can handle 18 inch logs but I prefer 16 or smaller. The bigger ones you see in the video will be split into smaller pieces. Hot cocoa later for sure.
@@rdreamhomestead1451 I hope we don't get dumping of a lot of snow this winter. Weather changes so rapidly. It's a good thing you got the heater installed. That was a good investment 👌
Yikes that's -22 F that's dangerously cold wow that's so cold that would shut us down! Take care up there! I would help if I lived closer!
Very nice of you to say.
-30C=-22F Wholly cow that’s COLD!
Yeah, and even colder at night. We are ready for spring. Haha
It is so cold all over western Canada
Yeah, it is nasty.
From what I've read online, German Shepherds do best above 45 degrees and should not be out in frigid weather more than 10 to 15 minutes.
They are a preffered breed for police here in Saskatchewan and they use them because they can handle the cold. She was only out for a little while.
@@rdreamhomestead1451OK. She's getting older now and worried about the extreme cold and dampness on her joints. She's such a sweet and devoted pup. I rescued a GS pup who I found shivering on the side of a country road. She had a severe case of sarcoptic mange. I wasn't even sure what she was when I found her as covered in scabs. Took her directly to vet and got her well. Coat came in thick and luxurious. She was the sweetest girl and would lay at my feet using my feet as her pillow when I nursed my baby girl (she turns 39 next week!). GS's are the most beautiful, loving and devoted dogs. ❤
45 celsius? this is fire oven!
@@ilanesh 45 F
They are living in the USA and 45 is 7C@@ilanesh
Oh Dear, I think you made a big misstake to leave your comfortable Home in the City, where you have heating enough electricity, you work too hard, I am worried about you two! this is something for very young people, like teenagers, and they probably would leave also soon! These ice cold places are dangerous to live, so cold is very unhealthy. Please take care! Cachito.
Thank you for your concerns but you must understand that we are very happy here and we have three types of heat at the farm. We have wood stove, propane heater and even electric heat. We were not truly happy in the city and there is hard work but as long as we are healthy, we can handle it.
@@rdreamhomestead1451 I understand, then you did the right thing. I just was worried. I wish you health and strenght and that you stay happy and healthy! ❤🙏🙂
Hi dream homestead.
