Beautiful yes. But this is the introduced australian eastern rosella. Slightly larger in size, with a more pronounced red & mottled back plumage. Good or bad, they're becoming more visible throughout nz than its native counterpart the kakariki. The fact I've never seen one is funny considering I have a rosella. Didn't even have to leave home, it landed in my backyard.
