honestly the idea of celebrating someone's life rather than everyone crying seems like it would be so freeing
This kind of thing is common in a lot of cultures. They celebrate the fact that they got to have that person in life rather than mourning the fact that they've lost them to death and it's wonderful.
Sin and Cyanide yeah no I’m definitely aware of it in other places. I feel like this attitude would make grief so much easier to deal with
@@sofftgiraffe it really would, but it's too hard for some people to change from what they've always done, sadly.
In Christianity we kinda do the same but we celebrate that the person is going to the Lord or just the person's life
@@notapop2961 not at all. Christian's funerals are depressing af. Everybody is sad, mourning and crying. Even songs that are played in funerals are sad.

I've never been religious, but I find the idea that you are sending your loved ones to their final resting place in an upbeat and happy way very cool. I know it's a big meme, but unironically I'd love it if my friends and family had a funeral like this for me.
Funeral practices differ a lot from each other. From continent to continent. From country to country. From religion to religion. From denomination to denomination and from church to church. And so on...
I personally know a couple different ones:
At an Italian-American Catholic funeral everything is _"death"_ serious. With everyone dressed in black _(sometimes with sunglasses)_ and old women sobbing in the background of the priest's funeral speech.
Before the actual funeral comes the boring wake, where the people pay their respect for the person that passed. Like the former boss/employee comes along. And people leave envelopes with cash, to help with the costs of the funeral. For many that's enough and they don't go to the actual funeral.
After the funeral comes the feast. Where the family and close friends come together and eat and drink together. Reminiscing about the life of the passed one and exchange stories about lost person.
While in New Orleans, the Black community, often does a similar thing as theses guys here. They transfer the deceased to the cemetery with a marching band. While singing and often drinking. Pouring a little of every drink on the ground, in memory and honoring of the deceased.
The US is such a diverse country, there are so many different ways to hold a funeral.
In Germany it's basically always the very sad version. With Catholics and Protestants. But both practice the feast, called _"Leichenschmaus",_ a very weird word, I personally think. It means _"body feast"._ But like eating the body. I can't really explain it. I still like that part the most. Because you meet people and family, you normally don't see on a regular basis. And you can drink beer and exchange, often funny, stories about the lost person.
None-religious funerals with a secular eulogist. In 1950 98% of all Germans were either part of the protestant and catholic state churches. Today they make up less than 60% combined. With numbers dropping very fast. There are two reasons for it. People just have become less religious and left the church _(if you're a member you have to pay church tax on your income)_ and the mass migration, basically a population exchange.
The s.c. _"sky burial"_ is probably the most disgusting/weird funeral practice I know and hard to accept/understand for Western eyes. I saw video clips of it. The body gets chopped up with a machete into small pieces and basically fed to the vultures and other birds.
en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_burial?wprov=sfla1
I don't recommend anyone with a low tolerance of blood and gore and a weak stomach, to watch the execution of such a sky burial.
These men live rent free in my mind
Admit it. This wasn't in your recommendations, you searched it up
yeah to learn more bout my culture :)

So sorry to hear about your loss. May Allah give you strength. Parents are very important part of our life.
Stepdad pasaed away last year. I have dreams about him everyday, almost like heaant to reach out to me, but evrrytime i do dream of him, i naturally almost instinctively try to avoid him/brush him off. Not sure why i feel this way or why I'm dreaming about him at all. Something strange did happen at his funeral that day, when our family and ppl attending ask me to give eulogy, couple of nearby flower vases was blown by strong wind and smashed onto the floor. I was trying my best to hide my shocked reaction and trying to ease emotions and tensions people had cause by it. But deep down everyone kinda had a idea of who i was and my relationship with my stepdad. Now i am still trouble by these past memories. Maybe its him calling out to me or just me thinking too much.

In Ghana, humans are believed to begin a new life after they die, and "death" is considered a "new beginning."
In other words, for Ghana, a funeral is not a mournful death of a deceased person, but a ceremony to celebrate the death of a deceased person with a new life.
So dancers may be invited like this at funerals.
In order to send out the deceased grandly, the men carrying the casket dance along with the hilarious music and drum rhythm.
QUESTION EVERYTHING ? No he’s talking about traditionally meaning in west Africa it’s tradition for them to be dancing and happy instead of mornful
So its basically day of the dead. Just in Ghana.
You're definitely not Ghanaian most people are Christian so we don't believe in a new life on earth except if you're talking about them going to heaven the real reason why we do this is to not be so upset someone has died and to remember they're personality
stop making false stuff, in ghana almost everyone's christian, and few are muslim, i've never ever met a traditional person in ghana worshiping more than 1 god, if people find out there's one they most likely go and beat the heck out of the person for Disapproving God, or if they don't know about God, well good luck going through some huge type of conversion that includes probably spitting in your face, or hitting your head with a stick if you zone out
