How do you premeasure the lace required for stitching?- is there a formula you use like 6 times the length of the flat of the stirrup or something like that?

How wide is the leather strip??? I have what i call regular size wood stirrups I'm needing to put tread on. I found some 10 ounce black leather but it looks to be a good bit wider than what you are using.

Hello! We can't give you an exact width. Stirrups come in many different widths, and without seeing yours we can't specify. Try measuring across the bottom of your stirrup right where the sides start to turn up. Thank you!

@@BigBendSaddlery sorry i didn't even think about that. I believe it'll be 5 inches which puts the leather jst at the start of the curve on my stirrups. At the widest they are 6-1/4" from outside to outside. OH! Once the leather has sank to the bottom of the pan of water, should i let it dry all the way or can i wrap the stirrup right then??
