- I take a solo trip to a pond and fish for stocked rainbow trout. I’m using 10 pound braid with a 1-2 ounce weight and about 2 feet of 8 pound mono leader line that goes to a size 8 hook. For bait we are using green and pink power eggs.

Excellent you give very good tips for trout they stocking our lakes this week so I’m definitely gonna put your information to use thank you for the video
Good luck out there! glad I could help.
Enjoyed your video. The very act of replying to comments and questions tells me what a fine young man you are,
Thank you! Means a lot!
This video brings me joy; enough so that I stopped to log in an comment.
To see somebody fish, and be happy when catching, and not catching is really cool.
And, sliding egg weights, with a barrel swivel at the right place would avoid misses.
But, good on you for showing the misses; and catches; and the joy of bank fishing.
Awesome video bud you have a similar method I use except where your going wrong is your weight. Not about the size but the type of weight if you had an egg sinker or bullet weight it would slide leaving that fish room to run without feeling any weight which will land you a more aggressive strike and I guarantee you won’t miss to many. The trout are very sensitive fish and have high visibility if they feel anything heavy they get spooked but overall love the video keep doing what your doing good stuff ✨🎣📈🙏🏼‼️
Ya the egg sinkers are good
Very true.
I used to rig like this when I first started missed everything.... look up Carolina slip rig , put a Bobber on the line hanging not a bell , so when u see that Bobber go up its game over , never miss a bite again usually gut hook swallow
+1 on the egg sinker. I run a size 10 Eagle Claw gold bait holder hook on a 2’-3’ 6lb fluorocarbon leader to a barrel swivel with a 1/4-1/2oz free sliding egg sinker above that on 6 lb line of your choice, for castability purposes. I typically use Natural Scent Garlic Berkeley Power Bait. Just enough to float the hook above the weeds. A 7’ ultralight spinning rod is a blast with this setup! I can’t remember the last time I didn’t limit out within a few hours at most, usually within a half hour to an hour though. Great video!
Great video! Glad the hook upsize worked out!! 👍
Great vid. Gotta try this soon
Beautiful Trout. Great Job!
Thank you that means a lot!
That was some killer fishing!
Thanks has a blast doing it!
Your weights too big man. You need a sliding sinker..1/4 oz..
Agree
Facts
@@brenthair1228 you right
I use 3/4oz sliding egg sinker and it works just fine
Your mouth is too critical....You need a smaller mouth😅! Dude knows HIS lake/river like the back of his hand. Send us your video!
Nice catch !
Great Video!
Thank you!
I would say keep the smaller size hooks you started with and then use a smaller weight. I think an one once weight is too heavy for the fish you are going after. And when you put the Powerbait on the hook leave more of the hook exposed; use no more than two power eggs
Thanks for the advice Paul! I’ll give it a try!
Hey son, Thanx for getting back.to me, one other thing you are fishing two rods why don't you fish one with bait and cast a quarter ounce panther Martin spinner say black.and yellow or yellow and red spots i.have killed the plants on then
I always use a 1 oz weight. Works all the time. I'm going fishing for rainbows this weekend. I'll post a video and you all will see. Lol. Stay tuned.
Try smaller hook 10 or 12, if you are going to keep. When fish are present you will catch them.
I been fishing a pond they put trout in for 3 weeks now. I just cleaned trout I caught Tuesday . Ditch the bell ! trout aren't catfish. Just watch your lines like hawk. Keep 2 rods close with in quick grab reach. The less weight the better. Sliding sinkers help.smaller baits too. I use powerbait , worms, spinners, But trout love corn! Corn often produces when all else fails .It's cheap, works a lot,but is not magic. When trout are super tricky no weight and 1 kernel of corn will trick them.
Also if you know the govt stocked them don't just give up after a week. A lot of people just say.."they must have caught them all." And quit Meanwhile I am in the rain and cold filling my freezer and saving money on food.
Cool Fish!
Thank you!
Great video!
Thanks!
That’s a killer spot, been hitting it for 25 years . Good job man
That spot never fails!
Dang bro!!!!!!!! Keep it up
Nice, I use a #12 hook with a 1oz egg weight with a 2.5 foot leader tipped with the two sided powerbait garlic flavored to be more specific
Awesome set up!
@@northshoreoutdoors works like a charm.. I think I like the two sided powerbait more cause it give it’s a little bit more of a flash especially when the water a little murky. God bless and tight lines!!
2-sided PowerBait? Do you mean 2-colored PowerBait?
@@kernlkajun1 nah, I can’t remember the actual name but they’re the balls, but one half is clear and the other half is solid. Clear side got flakes in it. Works the absolute best for me. And I meant to say a 1/4 egg not 1 oz lol
@thegreatrelease4539 I think you mean power eggs they are half solid color and half glitter clear. I love them because they really hold up well. Have caught a lot of trout on it, I like the rainbow best but some days pink gets it done.
Tip! Bonk your trout and cut their gills to bleed them out fast for better tasting meat
Good tip thanks!
Cool video man
Thanks!
First time watching your channel, so fun. What state are you in?
👍
Liking your video but I have a tip for you , , if you'll use it try instead of fixing a weight to your main line even an egg weight, instead run a snap swivel on your main with a bead then your swivel and hook length, stick to a size 10 single hook, thing is casting to where you are in this video can easily be done with a 1/16 , the little drop weight can clip to your snaplink you want further out put on a 1/4 oz or bigger... or if you're fishing the margins no weights at all . You can very slow retrieve and hit them in the lip , or just leave it static, ut yhe static bite you get , l pick up your rod hold it out making more slack and wait for the fish to make its move , as your line sails out don't strike just wind up and hold a bend in your rod fish will hook itself plenty,. I fish league and competition always trout and win more than my share , tight lines from Scotland
Wow those are some good tips thanks! I’ll have to try it out! And glad you like the video all the way from Scotland!!!
first off your rig works but is better off suited for a heavy current area i use 1 ounce weights for pier fishing in the great lakes... I would use a carolina rig that way the line slides through the weight with a 3/8 oz to 1/2 oz barrel weight and a bead tied to a small swivel with a 8inch to 24 inch leader with a size 12 hook sometimes i use a size 16 or 18 hook extremely small. the best rig for powerbait... with the 1 oz weight the fish are feeling the weight when they go to swim off with you bait and letting go as well i find if my leader is to long I lose fish as well. Im going out in the morning to do the same thing trout season just opened today in my area
Try taking bobber off before setting hook and real slack in, I catch 9/10 everytime that way fishing same technique
how do you take a bobber off when he's no using 1
Look up a Carolina rig... you can use a barrel swivel, bead, 4# seaguar tatsu for fluorocarbon mainline, sliding sinker 1/8 to 1/4 Oz., and a size 18 or 20 treble hook. If you plan to keep them, then those finicky trout will inhale these tiny hooks and can't let go. Gamakatsu and owner hooks are strong and incredibly sharp. Night and day difference with this rig vs a rig with heavy weights and large hooks. With such a smooth line and like braided line, I'd use a double Palomar knot as well.
FYI- ultralight gear is the way to go for trout. They're better to cast light bait and much more sensitive to feel very slight nibbles or action.
Thanks for the tips I’ll give it a try!
@SMP Lol... want some brownie points? Anyways, you can use whatever you want. I like using my setup because it's also simple to readjust. I also like using very light line. Also, I like to cast towards the middle of a lake. You need some weight to cast and sink towards the bottom of a lake. I don't know where you're fishing, but I'm not bank fishing.

Appreciate it means a lot!
Are u fishing in current? That seems like a lot of weight
Nice job. I liked the fishing action
Thanks!
Big hooks catch big fish but Small hooks catch All fish 🤘
Nice vid, nice trouts! I'm i the only one who puts them out of their misery if I'm going to keep it? 😂
Sometimes I do as well haha
Keep one rod in your hand my friend, watching the line move and hitting it is the best part haha
Some big rainbows
yessir
Gonna try the pink yellow yellow combo
Good Luck!
Try treble hooks better Hook up ratio
those things are deadly
pro tip- hold your rod.
This video blew up wow, those some big trout to
Thanks man! you look familiar have I seen you fishing before?
@@northshoreoutdoors perhaps
Fish farm fish 😂 made skillz!
Thats gotta be my next video title!! 😂😂
Hay buddy just my guess is that power egg , you have two on the hook and the type of hook looks like a snail hook i my self woul put one egg on a moscito hook that work also...
Just thought i'd give an idea.
So what is the cheat code piece?
Not sure where you live but your area looks like my home state of Maine.
Do u set the hook or just reel?
I usually wait until they have it deep in them and just start to reel but if I’m letting them go I’ll try to set the hook.
I’ve fished this many many times
Works like a charm!
Fish ON
Damn... are you fishing for Lingcod with that sinker?
That poki pipe 😂😂😂
Where did you get those Bells for your ride
Amazon 50 pack is like $10
Great fishing!! But bro get rid of the bells, I call those rookie ringers 😏😒
Haha I like that good point
@@northshoreoutdoors All love bro lol fish on!!
Give it time to set your to quick 10 to 15 seconds 30 max then strike bait should be well down. Trouts throat
use a Carolina rig
Good idea!
Just subscribed! Hope for one back! I mostly bass fish but would love to get into some trout fishing 👊🏻🔥
You got it brother!
it's called "chartreuse" the colour
Lmao thanks
Bro I catch like 28 7lbers in Colorado but lately I can't get anything to bite at all it's crazy!!!
Smaller weight.
Good to know
Try a trebble hook might get the Hooksett better
Small ass ones tho obviously
Where are you fishing at?
🤐
Can I know the name of this lake
what'sup dude.
is it work in other countries that way u did? i have no idea why these guys bite color bait.
If they are stocked trout they should bite colored power bait. Hope that helps
@@northshoreoutdoors
thank you bro! i ganna try if can catch some fish on my youtube
Carolina rig
Way too big of a sinker the hook is perfect. I would suggest using two BB shot split sinkers. And number 10 hook or eight hook will work fine. You got to be fast, brother.
Random!
You might be missing them because they feel the weight of the sinker. It’s too big
Your right I’ll have to use a smaller weight!
What state is this?
MA
Some heathy looking fish! No stringer? You can kill them and shove a stick about 3-4ft long through the gills and lay them shaded shallow water. Trout have soft mouths and braided line has no cushion. If they are less hungry and just nibbling, your heavy weight will mask some hits. I would use 2-4 lb green Maxima monofilament which acts like shock absorber and the least weight possible to detect more hits and lose less fish on the shallow hook sets. Or use a casting bobber 6ft up the line and let the wind or current send it further out.
Good tips thanks!
Crack for trout you say. how much a bag?
Can someone count how many fish greg missed🤫
Easily missed 10 bites
@@northshoreoutdoorsstill got on em tho!
Set the hook for the love of God
Ok for as starters, you need to understand that your weight size and it's placement matters even though you told us it doesn't. The setup you used was by all means wrong, I'm sitting here cringing as you continued to screw up. Look not everyone is taught right you will do so much better if you take a 1/4th ounce egg sinker and slide it up your line then a red bead followed by a barrell swivel. Ok personally I like using a eagle claw or Gamugatsu treble hook on your leader I'm saying a eight or ten size hook. Put one piece of chartreuse or yellow power bait and if your main line fills your main line off your reel that quarter ounce weight Is perfect at that place keep a bow in your line so that when the bow picks the power bait he can swim for a few feet without feeling any resistance. Trust me you would of had you limit of plants in half the time.Good luck kid
Yoooo thanks Grant I appreciate it! I’ll try it out! Thanks for the comment!
Jealous! I wanna catch trout.
You need to use trouble hooks
Your right! I would have caught a few more with trebles
No you Dont. Whats he going to do, but one egg on each hook? he has a good method. I use a #8 or #10 hook with the same power eggs. He just needs to run a Carolina keeper set up.
Hey put your hand in the water before getting the trout
Lol why? I understand if he were catching and releasing but this guy is eating them.
Your doin everything right except for actually fishing
Thanks!
Learn how to treat fish
Dude he’s eating them not trying to get married and start a family with it 😂 🤦🏽♂️.
You should bonk and bleed the fish buddy be aware of the fish that is giving you it's life
Good man always thank the fish
