Great review of the UMX TT Evolution Adam. I think this is going to be a real winner for Horizon Hobby and the people who fly it. With such a wide speed envelope and flight stability it is a small plane that can please a lot of people. Nice job Heidi keeping that little plane in the center of the frame.
Thank you Tony! It will do well, its too good not to!
the stats and the level of detail you put into these videos knows im in the right hobby, thank you for answering all my questions and some new ones ill add on to my paradigm.
Thanks! Glad it was helpful.
I'm only 10min in but just had to say, this review is way under rated and deserves more views. Had to scroll through a number of amateur reviews to find this and your flying is exactly what I was looking for on this model. And nothing against the newer reviewers, gotta start somewhere, but you are hitting it out of the park for me, keep it up!
Thanks very much Sean! Glad you like what we're doing!
Another thorough and highly informative review. Adam takes all the mystery out of the task of setting up and flying a new model.
Thank you brother Carl!
Another great video Adam. The Slow Motion of the gear was outstanding. Love the review that show different batteries, types of flying, and runways.
Thanks very much! Glad you like what we're doing.
Adam. Just killing it with the reviews. HH struck gold with the Timber line. Hope you and Heidi are doing well. Added this to my collection using your link.👋😊
Thanks Brad! Man we are trying! Lol. We really appreciate you using our link brother!
Just found your channel recently. I have to say you do the best reviews on the planes. You gave the good, bad and the ugly. And you explain it in layman's term. Thank you for a great video
Thanks very much John! Glad you found us and thanks for watching!
I was HOPING this was coming!!! Should have made it ALL red and have a UMX Drago!!
Ha! You need one Joel...
Not that red's a bad color lol 😅
As always great explanation of the plane and how you best set it up. And great flying of course! Your production skills are excellent for YT, Kudos!
Thanks very much!
Very well done sir!!! Love all of my UMX planes and now this video makes me want this one as well. Couldn’t ask for more of an informative video and flight demonstration!! Keep up the fantastic work👊🏼👊🏼👊🏼
Thank you Jeff! Really appreciate it man.
Another great review Adam! I still have my original and UMX Timbers & love them. This one looks pretty awesome!😎👍
Thanks Keith! Love Timbers...they all fly well!
Hey, another great review, Adam! I learned to fly on the previous model of UMX Turbo Timber! Love that plane! I always wished for more power. Now with 3S, wish fulfilled! I've ordered via your link. Thanks a lot! 👏
Hey thanks very much, we appreciate that! The UMX Turbo Timber is great, and this one really steps it up to another level.
What great flying AND what great camera work. A joy to watch!
Thanks very much! We're glad you enjoyed it!
Great review Adam, what a fab UMX Timber Evo from E-flite!! Some very nice editing from Heidi as well, great job 😀👍
Thank you Ian!
This is awesome Adam, I wanted to put the motor/speed control from my UMX Timber X into my UMX Timber so my 3S packs from the Pitts would work... but they did it even better!... thanks for the review, I just used your link to order 2 for my son and I
Dude that is awesome! I love it when they save me from having to do a big modification. Lol. Thanks very much for using our link, we really appreciate it! You and your son enjoy them! That is what the hobby is all about!
You've done another great review, Adam! This model was going to arrive at some point and I'm glad it has. Loving the colour scheme and the Evo upgrades... there'll have to be one in the hangar at some point in the future. Loved the '...so we decided to knife edge through the building' line 😎 ...very cool flying.
Thanks Gina! Lol...yeah sometimes I do dumb stuff on a whim...
Just about the best review I've eyeballed of the new TTE umx. Good stuff Adam, AirHammer out!!
Thanks man!
Great video Adam, loved all of the flight footage.!!! Such a great UMX plane.
Thanks Wayne! Yes...it is a great UMX!
Adam, Thanks so much for the video. Always learn something when watching.
Thank you Timm!
The battery advice was just what I was looking for. Thanks.
You are welcome. Thanks for watching.
Thank you for the info on the batteries. When mine arrived I had the 2 s battery but no one told me about a needed adapter, so after researching and ordering and waiting another week...I could finally fly
Glad our review helped! We try to cover all the details...
Also..stunning camera work including very competent zoom work - well done!
Thanks!
What an adaptable little model, everything someone could want from that size, excellent review as usual guys, as Gina also commented I was surprised to hear you say you would knife edge through the building, that made me sit and cross my fingers lol, cheers 👍
It really is Cliff. You need to try that old UMX Carbon Cub you have. That would be great indoors with the flaps down. This thing is another level. Lol...yeah that KE thru the building was fun!
Another fantastic review! Very informative, great flying! Excellent job knive-edging through the building. Seems like you haven’t done this for the first time 😂. And the slo-mo footage of the landing gear is indeed impressive - I was LOL when seeing this. Had something cartoony…
Just ordered mine some 15 minutes ago, after it finally became available in Germany (waiting desperately since the release). More than happy!!! love these UMXes and do have the Ultrix, Pitts, Voodoo and Twin Otter. None that I wouldn’t buy again! In case of the Voodoo I actually did, as I tried to dig for potatoes with it … Anyway, the minute I saw the new Timber Evo and watched some reviews, it was clear that I need to have one. Your video underlined that desire once again. Thank you for your great work and compliments to your wife as well - superb filming!
Thanks so much Alexander! We really appreciate you taking the time to comment with such kind words! You will love the EVO...such a great flying plane!
I hit two trees on my maiden. Only thing got ding a bit was the spongy prop hub. Kept flying avoiding those evil trees 😂
Yes! Trees are A holes. lol.
Superb video work and flying skills, man! Thanks for the fantastic review. Subscribed.
Thanks very much Michael!
You do the finest reviews I've ever seen sir. Fresh subscriber here for life. Thanks for the high quality reviews
Thanks very much!
One of the best videos I've ever seen!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!
Thanks very much!
I was contemplating which one to get from the micro drako or the timber Evo and you definitely helped me make that decision. Getting the drako would be like skipping a step in the micro bush planes department so I'm going with the umx timber Evo. The most info on a review ive ever seen good job!
Thanks, glad it was helpful! They are both great, but the Evo is a bit easier to fly slow. Great to start with (as a micro bush plane).
Bush flying looks so amazing!
Lot of fun for sure!
Excellent review and flying, as usual! Looks like HH hit another one out of the park! Definitely need one of these to go with my old poodle-nose UMXT!
Thanks Joel! It is a winner!
I like the ‘poodle-nose’ description. That’s the UMXT I have; with a lot of creases in the nose…it’s been a hard life for that little plane! Time for the upgrade
Awesome review! I absolutely love this UMX Timber!
Thanks, me too!
One again, a wonderful honest review you can trust.
Love my original timber & Umx Timber. Well done & a very tempting future purchase Adam.
Many thanks indeed.
🇺🇸🇦🇺👍👍👍✅✅✅
Thank you Noel!
Great review! I'm surprised you don't have more subs. Keep at it. I'm sure more people will find you.
Thanks Dave!
Awesome !!
The Slo-mo was great !!
Thanks Danny!
Wow. What another great review. I loved the slow flying rudder turns with the 2s. And the one wheel landings. Best video out on this plane by far. Great job, can't wait for the next one. Just don't tell my wife. Lol. Thank God the flying lawnmower isn't for sale or you would be in big trouble. Lol.
Lol...I won't say a word. Thanks very much Jay! Great little plane!
Very nice review, nice little plane for sure, nice flying Adam!, thanks for sharing! ☠Semper Fi
Thanks man! Its a fun one!
So much great info in this review. I don’t really need this but after watching you fly it I’m itching to get another. HH really has these UMX planes locked down. I think the 2s-3Ss combo is perfection. It gives a tremendous flight envelope. Plus I hate 1cell batteries. Nice job!
Thanks Brad! I agree man, HH started the UM craze (I think), and they really do make the ones you want to get!
This is a fantastic airplane! I can see why you did that throttle curve for the low end on 3s. Im going to have to try it. That little blip of throttle can really get you to overshoot. This thing has some serious power!
It really is Travis!
great looking flights and info 👍...have a good one..
Thanks, you too!
EXCELLENT VIDEO! SUPERB camera work!! Top drawer, first class quality ALL THE WAY! 👍🏻🙂 Very nice.
Thank you very much Randy!
Sweet! Well done as always!
Thanks Trevor!
This is the best UMX ASMR I've ever seen!
Thanks!
Finally a good technical review with the details we need.
Thanks!
I like my umx 2s turbo timber been great flyer looks like upgrade time again lol good review and video as always 😀
Thanks man! Yep this one is another level!
You're not alone in this Adam... I'm "that guy," too (lol)
I've also experienced the "blooming" & to offset it, I've added a POT to the flap servo channel. It helps dial in the ideal flap position on 3S, at low throttle, depending on windspeed, for a scale STOL landing. It's how I set-up all my flyers with flaps.
Big thanks for yet another flawless flight review.
Thanks for the kind words! Yep, taking the time to focus on all aspects of a planes set-up can really improve the experience.
Hey awesome video! I love this plane i just got the UMX Turbo Timber Evo to go with my 1.5m Turbo Timber Evo which i love but its a bigger plane obviously and i just love how quickly i can get the UMX in the sky, i keep it in the box like you said and its perfect for that. it has the front area thats divided that i keep my battery bag in that spot for the few batteries i have for it.
Also because this plane has all digital Servos, you can go into the TX settings and change it to 11ms DSMX mode, because it Binds by default in 22ms DSMX mode. Telemetry still works great. I'm not sure why its like that stock. Even my other planes will connect to CH's1-4 in 11ms mode at the bare minimum for anything that isn't too old of a model. I have a DX6 G2 so maybe the NX controllers will do that automatically, i started with a Blank Acro model like from the manual.
One thing I'm looking into changing right away it seems, is the Flap settings. So im glad to see something different from stock on here to try.. Idk if its because im in Safe mode still and where I'm taking off, because i don't actually need the flaps with the 3S 300mah spektrum batteries. It can take off in like 5 feet in regular grass.
When I takeoff with the take-off flaps at all stock settings, but the plane will just pitch up like crazy. I have the correct elevator correction added in the Flaps tables, and even when i hold full down elevator in high rates mode, i can barely keep it from climbing to aggressively with basically any throttle applied at all.
So i havent even bothered to try the landing flaps yet.. I need to find a good spot to test them out and see how it react before i try it close to the ground for a landing.
Ill have to try out those settings you listed and see how it works out, i did add a 0.5sec delay to flaps already so it wasnt so quick to change like that.
Other than that which im sure is something on my end, not the plane itself, it flies great and i really do like it a lot. I can get 6 mins out of the 3s battery and when im done its at 3.8v, ready for storage lol. I have 4 of them and since you can charge them at 3c if you really wanted too they can be charged in like 10 mins on a fast charge. But i like to charge at .5c for normal and 1c for fast charging. Theyre such small packs i feel like they charge better with less current.
The JST ESC Power Lead is pretty convenient just because they're so common to find on the smaller batteries. I just wish the 2s came with a separate lead and a balance lead and then it could just be converted to a JST like the 3s. I have found some nice aftermarket 2s batteries with 450mah and 45c that weigh about the same as the stock 3s 300mah battery, so that would be interesting to try on day i think, plus i can use it for other things if not. A small 3s comparable to the stock battery is tough to find though it seems, at least light enough, and have better specs to make it worth trying out.
I also love the full LEDs on this plane. I think Horizon Hobby should of made LEDs standard on every model basically a long time ago.. Its safer, its looks way better, and it makes it easier to fly in certain situations whether day or night.. Plus the way they can add the LEDs into the wing and body and run the wires inside during assembly, its just very tough to get it like that yourself after the fact modding it. Plus they cost enough, how does a Carbon Cub S2 thats $300 basically not have LEDs on the wings, front & back light at least which would be fine really.
Ive have only tried it with the 3s battery so far because i havent bought the adapter for that yet which is almost more money than the battery itself..
I just got this one and want to keep it nice for as long as i can. Plus this one and my HZ Apprentice S 1.2m is the only other working plane right now lol. Im waiting for a RX to come for the Turbo Timber 1.5m because it just never turned On one day when i plugged in for the first flight of the day, and with the battery nothing, and hasnt turned on since then or will connect to the PC. So im not really sure what happened there.. It passes power thru to the LEDs and the ESC so the power and ground side are okay, i guess something inside must of just broke..
I think i might make this plane into my "FPV Plane", i have a Sport Cub S2 but with the 1s brushed set up and how light it is, it just cant handle the wind or be worth making into something actually long range-ish. Ill do that to the Apprentice S i think bc it actually flies very well and fast and has great flight times on the 3s 2200's. Plus it can handle some wind being a 1.2M versus the mugh lighter and much thinner epo foam UMX planes which is a shame because i like the size of this one for that. I have an FPV wing i have to finish, but id rather just mount an AIO Analog Cam on top of one of my regular planes instead and fly that right now. I think for the FPV wing im going to try out the runcam link wasp or the Nebula, and see how they compare to my 5" Drone's O3 Air Unit.
Great review Great flying
👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️✅✅✅✅✅
Thanks very much!
I haven't flown planes in years. I might have to get back into it and get this. Looks like a fun plane.
It is a blast Tim!
Such a beautiful bird, can't quit looking!😊
Very nice Adam! This is Mark and Buddy, RC Aviation and Crawling, this is my Mountain Biking channel, still trying to get access to my RC channel! Keep the videos coming.
Hey Mark!! So good to hear from you, we've been worried about you. Be sure and comment on one of Ian's videos...he and Cheryl are worried about you, and we all miss you buddy!
I will indeed touch base with Ian, thanks Brother!
Brilliant review! Now youve given me a predicament; add to my two UMX Timbers (Classic and the Turbo) or buy the UMX Pitts.
J S that is a really easy fix...get both! Lol
You do the best reviews. Always cover the little details. Btw i melted holes in the wing of the first one using cheap ca 😮.
Thanks very much! Ha! I've done that. (Shhh...don't tell anybody)
Also have learned that if it doesn’t say ‘foam safe’ it really isn’t. Sadly, also found out about that with spay paint cans
love the precision flying
Thanks
Nice review my friend ! You are a good rc pilot ! Old school pilot they are the best ! Well done ! 💙✈️👍 I'm waiting for mine next week , so happy !
Thanks! Enjoy it...great airplane!
Hello Adam, just saw your review on this Evo Timber. I have been away from the hobby for 12 years and looking for a new start over one, think i just found it. Unfortunately Horizon Hobby doesn't ship or sell this or the recently reviewed Slow Ultra Stick in Europe (from Sweden) so it's going to be hard to get the hands on.
Keep up your fantastic most professional reviews ever made. Already waiting for next week's episode.
Tobias wow. Thank you man. Very humbled by that. I hope you can get one of them...either one would be a great "get back into it" plane. Probably the Slow Ultra Stick would be best if I had to pick one to get my thumbs back. Its bigger and bit easier, but way capable when you get comfortable again.
Well, I had no clue about the upgrades this plane had. very nice adding telemetry to it. The lights look nice also.. Looked like you had some fun with this one. I do love the colors.
Chris it is a fun one, I'm amazed at the gear. Can fly from places you'd think a plane this small had no chance.
@@ModelAV8RChannel Yeah that was pretty amazing watching that gear move the way it did. Well someone showed up at the field with one today and. Wow your video was good but seeing it in person I was blown away by it then he let me take it for a flight. Okay so this one might find it's way in my hangar. To me it is better then then UMX Timber X is
@@epoweredrc Great little plane, not as capable as the X, but I'm with you...I'd rather have the EVO.
Just bought one tonight. Now the big wait for shipping. Beautiful footage. Watched the entire thing
Awesome, glad you enjoyed the episode! You'll definitely enjoy the Timber.
Well 8 months later. Still flying though highly modified. Put real servos in for airlerons and elevator. Still have rudder linear working. She looks rough but flys good
Oh yea one more thing. 4 sets of landing gear so far. I need to redesign.
Great video! Thanks!
Thank you!
First time I c your channel awsum great info
Thanks and welcome!
Adam fantastic review and flying. HH should add you to the Horizon Demonstration Team. Truly an Evolution, like the larger control surfaces, beefed up tail wheel. Heidi this is also an Evolution video. Jeff in LA USA
Jeff. +100% agree Buddy. 😉
Thanks so much Jeff!
Nice post, thx! Enjoyed it very much.
Great plane, I am gonna order one, but it is not available in EU yet.
I really love your scale take offs and landings. I gotta learn🙂 I'll follow you.
Thanks!
Nice one I like it good review I’m a really UMX lover I will think about it
It's a nice one Michele!
Wow so cool it takes off and lands on grass
Ordered thru your link bud!
Thank you very much Jake! We appreciate it! You're going to enjoy it!
Awesome review Adam.
Thanks man!
Beautiful plane, love the colors, the one in the pic.
It sure is!
@@ModelAV8RChannel I know blue isn't the best color for clear sky flying, but aesthetically pleasing! 😂 A lot of times red is the only option.
Good review. Was there any improvements made to the control surface hinges. I seemed to wear the aileron and rudder hinges prematurely in my earlier UMX timbers.
Thanks. I'm not sure honestly. For what its worth we've flown ours a good bit, so far so good.
That's some good stuff.Just bought one
Thanks! Enjoy your EVO...great airplane!
Another outstanding review, Adam. I already have the previous 2 cell version of this plane and the new UMX Timber X. I'm debating on whether or not I should add the Evo to my hangar. I really do like the more robust airframe and 3S capability.
Thank you David! I like the new UMX Timber X for its capability, but I like the EVO for it's more laid back flight characteristics. It's not as capable as the X, but still capable...just easier to fly.
There is one more - maybe minor - argument except for the flight characteristics: Horizon managed to make the newer UMXes quiet! While the Timber X was screaming like the UMX Pitts, the new Evo is more like the P-51 Voodoo.
I love my Pitts a lot, still, the noise level and characteristic sucks! With the introduction of the Voodoo, all UMXes are now rather humming. The Twin Otter is hard to hear at all and what I saw from videos, the recently released air tractor is on par with Voodoo and Timber Evo. Ultimately, the soundscape can make the difference whether other folks outdoor will enjoy your flying, or are annoyed and possibly complain about the noise. and complaints may trigger restrictions.
Adam great video to the point.
Thanks man!
GREAT video as usual. So, was your wife behind the matching shirt color on the video. Or that Crazy Hillbilly. Just joking buddy. I have both, the original UMX Timber and the UMX Timber X. Both great airplanes. The X is my High Wind flyer.
Lol...it was Bubba! Thanks man!
Thanks for the vid!
Would you recommend this or the sport cub S2 for a beginner?
At this size the Apprentice STOL is better than both as a trainer.
If you want to do a touch and stay, forty feet up a tree, you will need a large bunch of garden canes to get it out. The flashing lights come in handy for spotting it.
Lol...good to know!
I am looking to level up from my Aeroscout s2 and was wondering if I can use the spectrum remote that came with the scout will work with this plane in a bind and fly ?
The DXS TX that comes with the Aeroscout will work. At some point, sooner than later, I would recommend upgrading your TX. Being able to easily program things like Expo, Servo controls (like travel, sub trim, reversing, etc), Flap settings, and throttle curves can really add to your experience by helping you to perfect the set up of any given plane. Plus you can use Forward programming to adjust AS3X and ESC settings when necessary. You'll find that set up is essential, and can be the difference in a plane just flying, flying better, or flying excellent. I would get as much TX as you can afford to get as you will find your needs will change and grow as you advance in the hobby. Already having a TX that can handle whatever you need will make that easier and keep you from needing to upgrade multiple times. The NX8 would be ideal. It can handle the demands you'll eventually need, and allow you to take advantage of all the features of pretty much any BNF plane. The NX7e can handle most of, but not quite all of the BNF planes. For example - lets say you want a warbird and get the 1.2 T-28. The retractable gear, flaps, and having AS3X and Safe on a switch put you at needing 7 channels minimum. With some BNF planes like the EC-1500 you need 8 channels minimum.
Obviously this is your RC journey and you don't have to do this, but in my experience it would greatly improve your capabilities and make your journey more fun.
I've wondered about throttle curve adjustments. Never used it but I see what you are saying. I could do that with the fms 800 Corsair I converted to 3s. That could really help with take off and landings I'll bet.
Yep. Bret they can be used to bring power in when you want...or take it away when you want.
Nice review Adam
Well now that have done Baby Evo, when can we expect Daddy Evo?
You already know that I love the amazing 1.55m TTE and I know you do too.
Thanks Dave. Yeah, they haven't made a bad Timber!
Really hope HH makes a UMXTwin Timber soon!
Good Job, Thats why you make the Big Money, lol.
Like ur page an way u go about tks!!
Thanks very much!
*I liked your video buddy, noice content ! 👍*
Hey, thanks
Did they improve the landing gear outside the side skirts? The tail wheel connection to the rudder gave me trouble on the old one.
They did. With the Turbo Timber they taped it on. With the EVO it is glued and embedded behind the new thick control horn.
Great video and a quick question. Can this be used on the water with floats?
Thanks, but how do you know its a great video when you didn't watch it? I'm just razzing you in good fun, but your question is answered a few times in the video...Lol. Yes...there are floats available.
Over last 10 years ive flown the umx timbers at schools, parks, as a Car plane, or bus plane when im Bus tour Driving on road . Ive far exceeded all my other Flying club planes with the little timbers.. id be lost without it. Highly recommend
Keeps My 64 yo " Dumb Thumbs Away, an its really fun, peacefully at sunrise, sunset, with lights.
Man that is great! It's amazing how much fun in such a small package!
Oh boy. Bentley is going to want one llol
Sure...blame the kid...lol.
@@ModelAV8RChannel lolololoool. I normally do. A finw family tradition to pass on to the next generation
Sweet!!!!
It is!
Hi there. Horizonhobby was no help! How do you disconnect the ball link ( without breaking it) so i can turn the piece that attached to the push rod to adjust the rudder. Thanks
You carefully pop it off the ball with a small flat head screwdriver.
throttle curve points do you use this default setting or does it change depending on the plane?
It changes. There is really no standard throttle cure. You tailor it based on what is needed of a specific plane for a specific mission.
Nice flying plane...on site it just says material is foam..but what kind? Thanks
Covered in the video. 03:14
very nice!
Thank you! Cheers!
FIRST! Well done team, well done!
Best video on this little plane by far
Aye Aye Mate! 👍👍😎
Thanks guys!
Q: so the throttle curve is so that that when u apply flaps it doesn’t ballon as much ?
The throttle curve is to keep the throttle response from being so sensitive on the low end. A byproduct of that is I can now blip the throttle landing and it doesn't throw so much slip stream into the flaps that it balloons. Before even a tiny blip was too much.
Q: do you put flaps and throttle curve on switch D ?
I put flaps on switch B. It is easier to manipulate with my middle finger and I can keep controlling the throttle/rudder gimbal. The throttle curve is just set to on all the time. Not on a switch.
Why are you using 1/2 flaps on the 2s 300mah 50c first slow flight please?
That is full flaps for our plane. Check the set up page to see how we programmed our flaps. We used less deflection than the manual called for because through testing, we discovered the plane flies as slow, but is more stable and easier to get a good flare on landing with a bit less deflection. It also helps that less of a down elevator mix is needed so you can use the extra elevator to get the nose up more, and get it slower on touchdown.
That’s a winner winner chicken dinner lol , I have the micro tundra but the maiden didn’t go well and broke it but it’s all fixed now ready for maiden.2 but it’s rather windy here in uk at moment, great vid Adam big salute 🫡 Gaza 🇬🇧
It really is my friend! What a plane. Windy here too, hope we both get better flying wx!
Nothing worse then knowing someone that is better then you in all categories… Nothing BETTER then knowing someone who is better then you in all categories!!! I need the number to your cell so I can pick that brain when I need to know something!!!😂👍🏻👍🏻 (I won’t tell the Mrs!😁)
Now Wayne...you KNOW I'm not in you league when it comes to costumes. OR building a master series FT F-14...
Cool Video 👍👍👍.I have some questions. Do you think ìtˋs possible to bind and fly with the Spektrum DX6 G2? Do you think that I can use AS3X and SAFE technology with the Spektrum DX6 G2? How many channels has this airplane? Motor, Elevator, Ailerons and Ruders - FLAPPS ? Many thanks for your feedback. Many greetings from Germany. Claus
Thanks Claus! Yep, you can bind it to a DX6, and use the extra channel to toggle between AS3X/SAFE. You won't have the telemetry feedback, but you don't need that to fly.
@@ModelAV8RChannel Many Thanks 😀.Greetings Claus
Any CG issues? Some videos are showing issues with CG AND battery placement? Awesome video!
Not sure what thats about?? Could be they are getting caught up in what the manual says. That is always just a starting point, but some feel like if they can't hit that it won't fly. The truth is you test fly, feel, and adjust to your liking. We put everything all the way back against the board. From 2s to 3s, it flies great with the battery there. All the footage in our video is with the packs in that position.
@@ModelAV8RChannel thank you for getting back with me, I greatly appreciate the information.
You are very welcome Steve!
One more question. Your flap settings are much less than the book settings. Did yoy find it slows down plenty with your settings?
Well, you see in the vid how it slows down. That is good for me personally. I made that change and the throttle curve to keep it from ballooning so much when I made tiny throttle corrections dragging it in slow with the flaps down for a short landing.
How do you get it to take off so fast beautiful flying.
Thanks! It's pretty floaty, gets off the ground quick!
Wow, UMXs have moved on massively since I had my UMX Sbach and Carbon Cub! I don't really have a need for it as I only fly at our club but anybody who has a small bit of spare ground to fly at should be all over this like a rash!
I agree man...they really have! Dude I miss that old blue/black/white Sbach!
Finally got this bird in the air! After configuring the throws mechanically this thing flew straight as an arrow without safe on. No trim necessary. I know you liked more elevator throw by moving ball link to inner hole. My complaint but not really a complaint is the aileron throw. Not sure why they have the throws set differently on the ailerons. Example… you give full 100% left aileron and the right side only moves like 30% throw. Why is this? I’ve never had a plane set up this way. Doesn’t that keep you restricted on roll? I would like more roll to this plane. Inner hole is a start but don’t understand the limit of throw on one side of the ailerons. Help me understand this. Thanks
Glad you got her in the air! Great plane.
So what you are seeing is mechanically set up differential. It is set up a bit extreme on the UMX TTE. The reason for having the up aileron move more than the down aileron is to create more drag on the up side (inner wing) so that side flies slower in the turn, this slides the outward wing around in a turn. Essentially it mimics a coordinated turn so the tail doesn't slide inwards so much in a turn (adverse yaw). A coordinated turn would be using the rudder to control flight path and the ailerons to control bank angle. This way the nose and tail follow the same path in the turn. Differential is set up in models with a lot of adverse yaw (like the Timber) to make up for the fact that most RC pilots don't use rudder to coordinate the turns themselves.
