i had the album version of this played at my mothers funeral a couple months ago. My father and i heard it eating out after planning her funeral and he said, play this. So with the list of songs she wanted played, i included this. he said it was perfect. but now it makes me cry every time i hear it.

Definitely a grossly underrated gem in Ms. Ciccone's substantial catalog. What I found really amazing about this mix is how it starts with sparse elements that initially had me concerned; I've always loved that heartbeat synth and though you built it up layer after layer, it intially sounded like a cheap approximation of the song, rather like a bad karaoke instrumental. But as I sat listening to you build it up element by element, I was absolutely floored right around the 1:54 timestamp when it all finally came together. Seriously fascinating work. Thank you so much for sharing it with us.
I think you have an excellent chance to re invent this song in the same way you did with Rain. I’m sorry to say this again but Madonna seriously should count on you for her re edition/curate project.
There’s enough sound bytes in this to do a remix of Swim. Maybe with some images from Cherish, and an overall vibe from Nobody Knows Me. Swim is up there on my favourites list, which has stood the test of time.
