I played this game first time today, i experienced frame drops when i climbed the tree and was looking around through leaves.

well I haven't explored everything yet, but there are places like kakariko village where the framerate consistently goes around 20 fps.
The game is super stable at 30FPS

I noticed that in BOTW the fps were a bit more consistent when you played in handheld mode, is it the same case for TOTK?

Did you update yet? If you have the phisical version it will come out as Version 1.0, which performs really bad. 1.1 fixed a lot
Set TV output in the System Menü to 480p. The game will look a little less sharp, especially Texts, but the frame rate improves tremendously. Just in TV Mode, though. Notice the slight delay when opening the d pad Menü? Gone. Makes for a much smoother experience!
I found about that trick when I had issues running Lego marvel heroes 2 as it dropped under 30fps very frequently like 20fps average. Imagine paying $350 +tax for 480p gaming “console “ in the year 2024 where a 4K Television costs at $350 exists 💀

The Performance in this game is actually pretty good considering the larger map etc. There are other games out there that are running bad on a higher end Console .
I don’t play Nintendo for impressive utilization of hardware. I would have rather had them reduce the graphics and have it play better than this. They could have at least included an option.

@@blues05 I'm not talking about a specific group of games like exclusive games . I was talking about like GTA 5 on the PS3 and PS4 , this game is running horrible on Online mode ! (Just a example ) . Also Zelda totk is actually not a exclusive title because it's getting emulated every where ( PC , Steam Deck etc . ) .
@@Kimi17-xr What the...! The PS3 was two generations ago! The PS4 was last gen and it still outperform the current gen of Nintendo console aka Switch in every cross platform games including The Witcher 3 and others. And they cost way less than the Switch!
Reading more on your comments, I don't think you understand the meaning of exclusives! Zelda is Nintendo exclusive games just like God of War and Halo is Sony and Microsoft exclusive games. They usually release their exclusive titles on PC after a while but not the latest exclusives games. Zelda ToTK you see running on PC is emulated but they're not a native PC application.
Maybe this game on Switch Oled runs better than the original Switch Red Box ? Could you test that? I'm playing on my Switch v2 and I get lots of fps drops depending on place even with nothing happening

all three switches (v2, OLED and Lite) are using the same chipset... so no.. the result will be the same performance wise..

The OLED model has a bit bigger screen compared to normal switch and lite(lite has the smallest screen)....but all have 720p resolution....the OLED has less pixel density compared to others...that is why it is bit blurrier
Both in docked and handheld my performance has actually been really good all things considered, I’ve only had one or two frame drops over like 20 hours

60 FPS would be ideal for an online competitive game that requires precision, but a single player game like Zelda is perfectly fine at 30.

It doesn't stay locked at 30 though several in game loacations nuke the fps. Any time you use the ultrahand it drops to like 15 and in dungeons. 😢 it strugglesssssss.... Ur wrong😊

Again, Nintendo disappoints me again despite having a quality title (even though it’s overpriced botw dlc) if they’ve made new hardware, made this a launch title like how they did with the switch even tho it was released on the failure wiiu, it would’ve been 10x better and probably would’ve had a 100 metacritic review score. When the game first gotten leaked I immediately went ahead and stole the rom and emulated it on pc and my god, everything was so much better and a breath of fresh air compared to playing botw on the lite. And now looking at the switch footage it looks like playing minecraft on a microwave.

I have to disagree, I prefer to be able to play it on my switch than launching it only on a new hardware forcing me to buy the new console. It probably will be released in the next Nintendo console anyway, so if you don't like the 900p 30fps you can wait till the new hardware or emulate it. That way everyone can be happy.

Really unfortunate Nintendo decided with the brain dead idea to release this on a console that was already outdated when it came out. I’ve been playing on emulator stable 30fps on higher resolution and it’s a much better experience.

Botw was like a 7/10 at best. Bad combat and no compelling story.
So far totk is more fun but the story would have to be really great to make it 8/10 or 9/10

Thumbs down your lying games performance is sub 30 your picking and chosing the non intensive scenery... And the graphics are worse than botw this was proven by DF...
DF literally came to the same conclusion, that in most situation it holds 30FPS and that a lot of the graphics got improved. You notice that especially with metal being way more shiny, or fluids looking far better, the higher rendern distance, global ilumination, better bloom, the new and better clouds, etc.
Yes, some aspects of the graphics are worse than in BOTW. The lowest possible resolution (as the game uses a dynamic resolution) is lower than in BOTW, the higher render distance means you see the textures repeating from far away easier and the flickering of the edges is anoying
But overall its still an improvement, which I find really impressive, considering we now have the caves and sky. Especially the caves, because Zeldas terrain generation doesnt allow caves to exist and every cave has to be a 3D Model
