I have liked every one of his videos since he started threating me
Me too. I Iisten for a while and suddenly get yelled at to like.
@MordianGlory is there a way to see at which time people hit the like button?
Same. I would otherwise simply. It think to do it.
Oh wow me too!
I'm just here for the mordian glory hole.
**Cries in over-costed air-cav** 😭
Remember, units that disembark from a destroyed transport are battleshocked. So that unit won’t actually contest the objective until your next command phase.
Great point .Only solution is to throw in a Commissar
@@richardseaton6390 but then you lose scout
Suppose you loose the chimera in your enemy shooting phase, catachans disembark and get battleshock. At the start of your command phase battleshock goes away (roll for it only if you had also lost at least 5 guys) and at the end of your command phase you score the point. No commissar needed
8:17 Come on Mordian man - missing the opportunity to say "we got boom boom, we need zoom zoom" is definitely worthy of being assigned to punishment detail. Still, love the content, have some engagement!
The David Gaylard list used the chimera with the Kasrkin, iirc.
Also the Chimera is a perfect unit for doing harassment charges. Many enemy units do not want to be in combat because it shuts down their far better shooting, but the Chimera doesn't actually care very much about being in combat. It isn't much of a threat, but you are pretty likely to get more value out of stopping your opponent's shooting than the cost of the chimera getting hit in melee and maybe having to shoot out of combat.
Actually won a game recently by charging my chimera into a Banesword and tying it up. I was able to lock it in place so I couldn’t get line of sight to my other important units, and because of smoke he wasn’t able to punch through the armour save. Also helped that I was able to freely incinerate the Krieg blob he had holding a nearby objective. It was 100% the mvp of that game😊
@@nedchirgwin2803 sound alike your opponent fucked up badly there, the 4 lascannons should have easily dealt with that unless they were super unlucky
@@jacket2848 At that point he was hitting on 5's, and I was saving on 5's due to smoke. Luck was with me, but its still surprisingly long odds
Got a tournament tomorrow and I'm bringing my Guard and originally thought "oh, I'll put my kasrkin and creed in the Chimera, they'll work well" not realising I've shot myself in the foot. But this vid has made me remember that I also have a Catachan squad, so I have instead that bullet off the floor into my opponents foot.
Excellent video, you may have just massively improved my chances tomorrow!
Thank you!
I really hope they make a Catachan range refresh thats cheaper to buy IRL than a normal squad and come with more models in the box so they can get more of them out in the wild.
Until a refresh comes out, I'd recommend Spacenam; 20 minis for about $40 are pretty good. All you'd really need from elsewhere would be the vox casters
@@Rexir2 And, really, most players will probably take your word for it if you say they have Voxcasters. If you're still worried about it, a bit of wire drilled into a backpack and bent into an antenna can do the job.
THEEEE EMPEROR TRUE FINEST
I honestly had good results with Chimeras loaded with Karskin. Sure, they are pricey, but shoving 10 good infantry up the board like that has worked out very well. Plus they tend to be good distraction tools while the real threat rumbles on up.
The Commisariat is wrong!! It's wrong! By the Emperor I am a faithful citizen and liked the video immediately!
Chimera might well be my favorite unit in all of the Guard.
Been using this in my GSC army. GSC suffer from having expensive base troops and expensive transports. This is a tougher, killier, better set of forces for almost half the price! Must have for the three-armed amongst us!
Heresy detected!
@@richardseaton6390 we’re everywhere. For your convenience.
Beastmen as catachan proxies incoming! 🙃
Heh heh I'm working on a Felinid Cat-achans squad rn X)
@@legionnaire5947 just make sure they don't get distracted by their laser pointers! 😉
They probably look more human than the Catachan models anyway...
It's what I'm thinking of doing with my "The Damned" army from Wargames Atlantic, when those models are eventually delivered. A squad of beast-boys with melee weapons. Maybe, since I'll have a couple extra, I can give two of them Flamers.
@@Bluecho4 as they're lost and damned consider a daemon flamer arm. (Actually do tzangors have something similar?)
I follow every order from the commissars
For fun I ran both a Dakka Chimera and the Flame Chimera through Unitcrunch to see how they perform there, using an infantry squad Grenade Launcher and Missile Launcher in the Dakkamera to keep make it long-range anti-infantry focussed and price equivalent.
Assuming cover (cus 10th Edition), no lethal hits (also cus 10th Edition), no orders, and half range, the Dakkamera obviously wins if the flamers can't fire in comparison. Not 100% scientific as I made my own unitcards from scratch, but the fastest way to be corrected is to be wrong on the internet.
Dakkamera Loadout - 2x Heavy Bolters, HK Missile, Heavy Stubber, Lasgun Array, FD Frag Grenade Launcher, FD Frag Missile Launcher
20 Ork Boyz - Kills 4 (5)
20 Termagants - Kills 6 (8)
10 Marines - Kills 2 (2)
5 Custodes - Kills 0 (0)
Bracketed numbers are 2x Flamers instead of GL and ML
Flamemera Loadout - 2x Heavy Flamers, HK Missile, Heavy Stubber, Lasgun Array, 2x FD Flamers
20 Ork Boyz - Kills 6
20 Termagants - Kills 10
10 Marines - Kills 2
5 Custodes - Kills 0
For fun:
Hellhound - Inferno Cannon, Heavy Flamer, HK Missile
20 Ork Boyz - Kills 6
20 Termagants - Kills 8
10 Marines - Kills 2
5 Custodes - Kills 0
Surprisingly close between all of them to be honest, you could make an argument for any of the above depending on how your army is built but I still think most people will still go Catachan's in Chimeras for the scout. Might be nice for embarked officers to be able to order the Chimera or other transport they're riding in, could encourage some alternative loadouts.
No! No! No! Mister, this is Not:"your opinion man" this is the harsh reality. I build a nice Light Tank reecon Company with one scoutmeara with karsakin and creed, one with catachans and another from reservs with kriegs man and a marshall. Five Russes (Tank commander/strategist,demolisher, two El classice and e dakka exterminator)
Two Infanterie Blobs with 2 las cannon 2 autocannon and a lord solar blob with Mortas
Try out its fun
the cat-achan jungle fighters !!!
Before I get too excited…. This sounds like it can be used in a Crassus…. (Raises eye brows…)
How can the Infantry hold the Obj if they are dismounting from a destroyed vehicle? Doesn't that make them Battle Shocked?
The battle shock will go away in your command phase before you score objectives
i tried using an armiger warglaive in the escalation league I'm in. and I beat a tank player [he has 2 russes and a basilisk]
Catachans are the best infantry in the guard for this exact reason. Forget durability and firepower… scouting and manoeuvrability!! 💪🏼
Leading the catachan unit with harker is better for the combo or not ? As it still have the possibility to fire inside the chimera with payback and have scout too
Been using a scoutmera with some jackie-chans since very early on in 10th. Highly recommend!
Jackie chan's?
@@jackchan3235 Aka... Catachans... But better
Chimeras are S-Tier :D
Infernus de hereticus
I just picked up 3 boxes of catachans for this reason
Is it legal to put two command squads in a chimera?
Oooooo that’s an interesting thought. You could build a “command Vehicle” with that… shout orders out of and fire the heavy/special weapons out the fireing deck 2.
Likely too many points and/or too easy to give up “a ring it down” or “Assassination” perhaps?
It is but likely not the best plan. Only firing deck 2, so this doesnt boost their firepower that much.
@@davidthomas2870two lascannons.
I think that is certainly a force multiplier
Should be legal, there's no rules saying you can only have 1 squad in a transport, also the crassus exists with 35 capacity and it would be a little silly if you could only fit one squad in it
I don't think you'd get the benefit of the Master Vox though, so it's only 6" range for orders.
Gonna be a dumb question but what rule reference says the transport gains the scout rule for the unit embarked?
It's in the Scouts rule. If a Dedicated Transport has ONLY models with Scouts X embarked, it can make the Scouts X inches move.
Note that not all Transports are Dedicated Transports.
@@OniGanon appreciate it friend
I wish Command Squads worked in Chimeras.
You can put issue orders from inside a Chimera.
@@RockyX123 Yeah, but I don't think the Master Vox will work, so it's only 6" range.
@@jacob5700 I’m not sure that is right, what make you believe that? I honestly want to know because that is not how I have been running them.
@@357Dejavu Because everything in a transport is in the "void" - outside the game. It's the Chimera's ability that let's officers order, it's not about the officers and any add-ons per se.
An Enginseer in a Chimera can't give it invulnerable saves and heal it whilst in it either.
Hey mordian how about infantry Squads with lascannons in chimeras?
Can’t scout
Bump
Wait you can scout with a transport?!
yes, if all of them have scout
If it's a Dedicated Transport and only contains models with Scout, yes.
My issue with MechGuard is that 10man squads are too flimsy
