Would you do a Finding The References video for this game if they have any references that you recognize?
It's often easy to fall into a hole and underestimate the size of projects including how much work they require. I already struggle to work on video editing by myself and I simply cannot imagine the amount of work and stress required to work on a full on "big" game.
Well yes because everyone need a break because is a

All developers should know this, especially after games like BF2042
It's always such a shame to see amazing projects like this get "canned". But mental heath and well being take priority over everything. You made the right choice, hope you all feel better soon!
It isn't canned though , there just will be no official updates or like the Thumbnail says taking a break for good :)
@@juliancharizard2008 Your right, that's why I put canned in quotes. It might come back, but it's extremely unlikely.
@@hajilee4539 Yeah thats just sad I really liked the Fangame and the Idea
@@juliancharizard2008 Yeah, oh well...
You’ll never know, it’ll come back unexpectedly.
It's really sad to see this project put on hold or maybe even cancelled outright but I completely understand the decision to do so.
If the game never gets finished, I hope we can at least get an incomplete release so we can at least see what could have been. I'm sorry if saying that makes me sound selfish, it's just something I wanted to put out there
Agree, I completely hate the idea of software not ever getting released to the public, and the community can appreciate the unfinished game.
Proud of you guys for doing what y’all needed to do. As someone who destroyed their sleep schedule+mental health during the ending stretch of my own Henry fangame, I heavily empathize with everyone working on this project. Please take the time you all need while on break.
RtA moment
I mean they have a point:
- Flash got removed while they were making the project
- Puffballs started The collection in 2017 and finished in 2020. So this makes since, with a lot of detail and hard work
- Like puffballs, he confirmed that as soon as he finished the game. He was in the position, of Henry when he died in the revenged ending, which yes is metaphorical, but this is like real life.
- So rest all you need, I don’t care if it it takes years or gets canceled. We understand your metal pain. May rest well 🙏
I've never seen another fan group that pushes this hard to make a fan game, but you guys can take your time. you deserve it
PLEASE dont run away with the Patreon money like 78% of all indie devs
As someone who makes games for fun, I understand the struggle of burnout. I have wayy too many uncompleted games on my hard drive just waiting to be finished. Heck, even Puffballs United had plenty burnouts in CtM alone (take a look at the intro credits for MBH... There was very little motivating him!) No one's forcing you guys to complete this, and if it takes 5 years to complete like it did for the henry stickmin collection, who cares? It doesn't matter when it will come out, we will all enjoy your fangame regardless.
Same, burn out is like, you want to do it, but you can’t find the motivation to continue.
Very sorry about your guys' crunching and grinding for this passion project you wanted to make for so long, and to get all of this tension and suspense for it to all go down. I understand this isn't an easy decision, and I know from experience. I hope you guys can get some rest and will work on the game without crunching.
As was once said to a character who was in need of a friend, "I'm with you 'till the end of the line."
You guys stay safe out there. Take care of yourselves.
As a fellow game dev, I understand the massive task of developing a game at all stages, you guys deserve all the love and care from us all.
Take a break, get well, and stay positive and happy.
We'll all be here supporting you all regardless.
I can't even count how many times I've been stuck on games I don't want to make, or feeling burnt out.
@@maso5451damn ngl if u dont wanna do it dont do it :-: if ur being a bit lazy then sure push yourself to do it sometimes if you enjoy it but if you dont enjoy doing it dont do it yk😮😅
I find it very admirable when teams like this -- no matter whether a side project or a main one -- can be this transparent with the situation and status on things.
Also, I know that the group won't be reading this, so i'm basically talking into a black hole here, but i really hope your mental situation gets better. Not even for the sake of getting back to work, only because you deserve it after so much effort and passion. That takes strength to go through, and i don't think it should ever go unnoticed or unrewarded. Despite however long it takes, i truly hope things get better. I'd even go as far as saying that even if the game gets cancelled, as long as your mental health gets better, it's worth it. My sincerest and best wishes to you and your team.
...even if this comment goes unread.
Here's a suggestion for if you decide to start working on it again: Work from the shadows so you don't get pressured by the community, then, when you can confirm that its nearly done, you can start Rolling out info. I'm not a game dev, but I think this might be a good way to relieve pressure on yourselves, so you don't have to worry about people pressuring you to try and get it out ASAP.
It’s nice to know your taking a breather. However, I honestly don’t think it will ever come out :(
Your not the only one thinking that
Take as much time as you guys need. I completely understand the stress and mental burnout you guys are currently experiencing. Henry stickmin games are a lot harder to make then it seems. 90% of the game is purely animation which makes these games pretty hard to make. And with having to do music and voices as well these games are definitely not easy to make. I hope you guys find the motivation to continue this project but also don't feel like this project has to be perfect. Nothing in the world is perfect that also applies to video games.
It’s alright guys! Enjoy your break!
Dont worry guys i understand the pain you doo need rest dont care about the game care about. Your health
It's late but happy 2023
Well I hope you guys have a good long break.
And to get your mental health back, take care.
I’ll be waiting as long as you guys feel like your ready to try working this fan game again once y’all get better soon, or maybe 3 years.
You don’t have to apologize, you guys worked your buts of and saw the bottem of the barrel this is in a way a accomplishment. Take a load of you guys deserve it. :D
It's very bad to see you guys suffering from burnout. Don't let yourself get discouraged and quit! You guys are amazing, keep trying!
Thanks for all the passion and dedication you've shown to the project, it's much appreciated, take all the time you need guys.
Thank you guys. Take your time, I'll be looking forward to future development, but I am willing to wait. You guys are amazing. Rest up
It’s ok to take a break from your work don’t take hate from anyone and I hope we get to see you guys again soon time in the future and have a good time
Thanks for giving us a new perspective guys! I'm into indie genre fangames a lot, so I've seen what Beethovenus from TS!Underswap says about group projects, and I think that's some good stuff for anyone with future plans. And of course, I learned a thing or two about working in team projects. But again, thank you, and I wish you all the best and that you're never forgotten :1 (I even got to know a little more about you!)
Don’t worry. Take a break. Your health is still more important than the game.
It is nice to know about game development as a planned game developer😊

Please. Take all the time you need. I don’t want you to stop, I want you to have fun making a love letter to a game you like. I feel bad now for using the word “perfect” when describing its delay, I meant that the longer it takes to release it’ll be better made. I never meant to make anyone think that this game HAD to be perfect or it would be unacceptable, I’m really sorry I was one of the reasons for anxiety/perfectionist urges on the team. I hope to see this game release some day in the future but I won’t put my expectations high…
I’m very happy to have stuck with you guys throughout this project! You guys are great, and I hope you enjoy your hiatus! Wishing the best on your personal commitments too ❤
Edit: btw att when Ok
Hope you all rest more and wish you all merry Christmas
Im glad you all are taking a break. Hearing this video, and easily understanding It, i can fully say you deserve it.
Working and organizing a game dev team is really difficult, and I admire the work and passion that you have put into this project. It's not worth it if your mental health suffers greatly to just make this, nothing really is, and if the game doesn't release at all, I can at least be certain that you guys will learn from this experience, and move forward doing better in the next project. Best of luck to all of you.
As someone who’s still holding onto hope for this game, it’s refreshing to see a team realizing they announced a release too early, and rather than say nothing when that ultimately gets pushed back or just releasing an unfinished game, you explain what happened, apologized, and are showing that you learn from your mistakes. Even if this causes this game to go unfinished forever, I think other devs should follow by your example.
You deserve it thank you for working on this project I can't wait the game!
I hope you guys do make this game eventually, but I soo understand the pressure of expectations n whatnot. I wish yall the best and a relaxing mental break from everything ❤
I'm an aspiring animator. If I ever become good at animating, I want to help groups like you all. I'm so happy that you all are taking a good, long break. You all should stay on that line of a break. Your team deserves relaxation
If only innersloth could help you guys financially with this to take off some stress
Its a passion project, so they're doing this on their own choosing.
Innersloth probably doesn't care because Henry Stickmin is concluded, so them supporting this project is unrealistic.
@@bloonman5043 suprisingly they care and even aproved this fangame, but they won't help because like you said it is passion project.
Do what you want. Do what makes YOU happy. It’s your life, no one else can control how you spend it.
It’s good that you guys are stopping for now, I don’t care if it isn’t made, you guys have put so much effort into this, I’m glad you guys are at the very least taking a break, making a game is hard, so relax the best you guys can
You don't have to worry, I fully understand what you're going through and if it's too exhausting, take your break without worrying :) ❤
even though I am a little sad, i completely understand the reasons and can relate to some of reasons said in the video. I understand that Animating and making a whole ass game that started as a little fangame among friends plus the fact that many people are now expecting the game and the feel of obligation to satisfy their needs is very real. most of the people attacking you for delaying the game are the ones who don't understand how hard animating and whole developing in general is.
I wish you all the luck, and I wish you the best, you are doing amazing job.
im still happy after 12 years from the first Henry Stickman game you are still trying your best
I saw the project getting announced a while back, thought of coming back here to check out and only to see this, it’s unfortunate this has been happening to you guys, hopefully you all will take care and have a great rest to recover.
OMG I can't believe it you guys did your best and even if you manage to make it you guys were the best even though you guys weren't done so you guys still have the credit that you guys deserve even for the longest break ever and even know that Puffballs United will be proud of you so that is also the point that you is that mostly you guys never give up and never fell behind all this you all did your best at the time.
Hi Kejayco and Argus, good to hear from you again!
I understand, please rest your mental health and work whenever you feel like it.
The first trailer of this game pop up on my recommendation a couple of minutes ago before I commented this. I watched it and realised that it's going to be released in late 2021. Since today is 2024, i went on gamejolt and saw that the game wasn't released yet. I scrolled down a bit and the pinned message lead to me here on this vid. So after watching it, take some time to rest. I mean were all humans and we need a break or else well be too stressed out. So yeah. Seek a therapist if you need.
Understandable that a break is needed from this. Hopefully the game will eventually be finished and released in the future once everyone's in a better state and place of mind rather than just cancelled outright. We've waited this long and we can surely wait longer, or at least I can anyways.
You did well, rest for a while.
We can't ask more.
take all the time you need. Making a high quality fangame is hard work!
If this is still being worked on, then I’ll still keep on hoping but I can understand why you guys on break.
Honestly i was surprised your original deadline was only a year, i would be surprised if it released in 3 years from now
while it’s unfortunate to hear that the game has been put on indefinite hiatus, mental health should always take priority, no exceptions. I hope we’ll one day get to see Attacking the Tower released, but until then, I hope you all can get some rest and enjoy the breath of fresh air.
I love the Henry Stickmin games! But what I love more is that these guys actually admitted something a lot of people really can’t or won’t admit. That they’re tired and need time to rest.
That takes a lot to do, especially about a creative project!
A lot of creatives, including myself push it too far to the point it can mentally and physically take a toll on you.
Though it’s 2024 now when I write this, I hope these people are doing well for themselves.
It's normal to take a break. Those who really want to play the game will be able to wait for it . For example, "Undertale Yellow", which is being developed as fan-made, but very high-quality prequel to "Undertale", is still in development, although their first demo was released in 2016. And people are still waiting for release of this game.
It’s ok if the game needs to wait. You guy’s mental and physical health is more important than a game, no matter how cool the game may be. Good luck on the game (If you plan to do it), and don’t overwork yourself. We’re cheering y’all through it all the way, so don’t feel rushed 👍🏽. Once again, good luck😊.
No one should be so stressed this much on a fan game your mental health is more important, have fun on your break
Man the mental health stress and burn outs is so bad that the break is years hope your good 😭
it's ok i'm just happy that we can all go back and look at the old Henry stickmin and hey if you are stressed take that break and remember YOU ARE PERFECT! your team is great always makes me happy don't worry because you be you i love the stickmin and he...just enjoy the little things it's fine if it never comes out you have given us SOOOO MUCH and yet what have we done for you.
I am very sorry that the project is frozen, but I understood the authors. in any case, they are great Since they created a project the size of an official
I hope all of you have a wonderful, blessed break and complete the game at your own pace! You deserve to enjoy your lives and improve your health with this hiatus! I’m still with all of you all of the way even if the game is releasing in 2027-2030!

take all the time you need!
Well... dang. Props for being transparent at least, even if it makes you uncomfortable. Transparency is probably the best treatment for overhype.
You can take this with a grain of salt, but I would say a good course of action once hiatus ends is to simply focus on your creative vision over what others are claiming is "perfection." That was the model that Puffballs United followed upon making the OG games and I think we'll all agree it worked well, so it could work again.
As a passionate fan hungry for more myself, I would volunteer to help but... sadly, I doubt there's much help I can provide. I have no experience with animating, am completely unfamiliar with the tools used to make these games, and only know enough about artwork and drawing to know how goddamn taxing it is (but I can still draw).
The one thing I can definitely do, if you still have room for it and need it, is voiceover. I have prior experience with that, have the hardware and skill needed to pull it off, and am willing to do it for free. While my voice has its limits, it is flexible, and I know how to push it in various directions without hurting myself. With the right context and guidance I feel I can do a good job- and I know I'd enjoy it, since I've done VO before. That's only if you need voiceover of course, I have no intent to make a demand of you. Just something to consider.
Nothing is perfect, but it doesn’t mean it’s bad. You guys take a break, alright? Creating stuff like this is difficult. Take care, you guys.
I fully support you guys and I hope you all recover
I understand that I feel so emotional that you guys are taking a long break and that is okay for me I hope you guys will recover eventually, and maybe in the future you guys might give us a update? IDK we just have to wait and see

Guys everyone here who has a brain understands that a human being needs a rest. (I know I'm late)
You really don't have to put your eyes 2 inches away from the screen and sitting like that for 20 HOURS. HOW THE F- just so you could finish the game for at least faster than a day.
Get a god damn rest guys. Make a tea, Lay on a couch, and watch some movie. not the one with violence of course, you need to rest your mind.
Or just do whatever the hell you want! I don't know about others but I am a patient guy.
I've started waiting for Operation : Black Mesa about 6 years ago and I still don't get frustrated about it (how). It is understandable, You're a small team, and biggest fans of a flash game you once played in the 2000s.
i still don't get a penny from the goofy 3d animations I make and even if I did, I would just wake up and forget it like all the other dreams I had about it
Despite that the trailer for this DLC Came out a year ago and that you still manage to find some strength to keep developing the game is MAGICAL. The second i open up Blender to make a new animation i just close it because my hopeless braincell tells me that i can't do shit. Maybe you had this situation too but believe me. IT HAPPENS TO ME ALOT.
So just take your time and rest. You guys are really about to revive the whole Flash games community. Markiplier, Jacksepticeye, maybe even PewDiePie and hundreds of other popular CZcamsrs will play your fanmade chapter. And of course, reviving the WHOLE Flash games community is a hard thing so as i said (for the 4th time idk) take your time and REST.
TAKE A REST.
My wishes for your successful luck.
Hope you guys are puting you greatest work into that game.

Making a game based off a series of games made by one person is a tough task for anyone to accomplish. I can only imagine the frustration and difficulty you all must have been dealing with. So please don’t push yourself too hard.
don't worry, take your time, the game can wait
Man I know you guys are gone but can you give us a update I’m worried about you guys

Take as much time off as you need, mental health should always prioritise anything else. Wish all of you in the development team all the best during the hiatus.
