#AskGMBNTech I've seen the prices of PARK TOOLS & some peeps spend more on PARK TOOLS than most do on their bike....
can you do a video on AFFORDABLE BICYCLE TOOLS other than Park Tools, plz n thanks.
also: how about doing a segment on FIRST AID KITS for cyclists....thanks again Dude
#askgmbntech Will upgrading to a DebonAir air-can for my RS Monarch RT3 HV 200x57 IMPROVE small bump sensitivity SIGNIFICANTLY or should I switch to Vivid Coil?
I have a 150mm Trail bike. Right now I use 30-35% SAG and I feel it's totally lacking small bump sensitivity.
Thank you!
#AskGMBNTech where is the best place to sell a second hand mountain bike.
#AskGMBNTech Hey Doddy, a tip for tall riders please. im just over 6 foot 2 inches tall , long legs, riding an XL size 29er hardtail, my seat is set perfect height wise, but it is high compared to my bars.......i want to shorten my stock stem which is really long, and raise my handle bar height to take some weight off my hands and relieve hand pain. Can you tell us again what stem size you use and ( as i have pretty straight handle bars) how much "rise" you have on your handle bars please? ( if rise is the right word? fingers crossed that makes sense). cheers dude!!!!
Hi Doddy , I am buying a new bike, it has a fox fork , in one of your videos you gave a link to a rebound calculator based on your weight however that only works for RockShox forks is there an equivalent for fox forks ? Thanks #AskGMBNTech
Can you include a table of contents with the time cues in the description? This would help out tremendously!

10:15 us when he talks about travel

As always.. so freaking informative. Love all your videos.. from all of you guys. You are all fun to watch..
The noise he makes at 3:39 đ
Maybe he imagined his dog riding the bike
Fuck off
I've been using grip-shift since the originals, I switched after going through many different underbar shifters. The originals were not as good but really from X-ray on they were good. I have the XO on my bike, rear only, and it works great. There may be some time necessary to get used to the new shifting technique, but I don't have any problems with shifts. Mostly because I have been using it for a while. Cheap, light, and indestructable...can't beat it!
I've changed my head angle by 2.5 degrees and love it by putting a longer fork on and offset bushings the offset bushings keep the BB the same height so that wasn't an issue its the best thing I've ever done
Another great Tech video from you Doddy your a one off Man Thanks from all of us at the IRC,PD
Great tips on angled headset manufacturers. I only knew about the Cane Creek. I'm debating getting one for my 01 GT XCR to slacken it a bit and this will give me more options.
Been using 3wt Fork Oil For 6months Now in my Saints EXCELLENT FEEL and Feedback ..... ZERO Issues Won't be Changing đ
I agree to that first QA. I try to swap from DOT to mineral oil of my busted SRAM break. All internals parts are swell completely (plastics and rubber bushing). Even the rubber ring around ceramic piston. And that is a totally a fact.
Never mix fluids
@@SKBKER even you put a new hose and thorough clean internals and housing . Always issue is those internals. They are design for specific oil.
i had a gripshift in the 90s,.. which was remakably different from what i have seen since... the whole grip was the shifter,.. but you could lock the grip if you wanted to but you mostly didnt need to only on really shock intensive terrain or big jumps,.. and that was on a bike without ANY suspension.. so i would imagine today it would work even better. but i havent seen this style of shifter since... only the gripshiftswith the small ring on the grip
I increased my Rockshox Recon Solo Air 2017 from 100 to 128 mm by removing a spacer on the air side you can take out. Some forks have it some forks don't. Did a test run - seems to work fine, although you have to mingle afterwords with the oil quantity( by increasing it) in order to make it lock up afterwards. Hope this helps as it drove me mad as I had a straight head on my frame and I could not find any longer travel forks at a decent price, mostly all were tapered.
I have a Rockshox Recon silver on my Marin Hawk Hill, so I could increase the travel on that fork? I feel the bike needs 130mm in the front, rather than the 120mm
@@starsky8351, you can find that out at a lower service after you open it, if there's any spacer to remove.
Jamaica sounds amazing place to ride. Those beautiful island views, amazing forests and other amazing landscape there.
Meanwhile sitting here middle of snow piles and -25C outside. Riding gets hard when there's snow up to you waist.
Jamaica?! Guess they have their own definition of *_blazing_* down the trails! đ
Thx for the video
i used baby oil in my shimano brakes it works fine but always use the recommended for brand or brand specific
SRAM Grip shifters you can buy different length grips to help with the distance from the end of the bar and brake lever position,i am going to cut down some different grips to do the same job
#AskGMBNTech can you give a basic bike geometry introduction? I have no idea how a shorter chainstay or longer wheelbase or anything like that affect how a bike rides.
there are lots of videos about this, i think GMBN has already done somethink about geometry. basicaly, longer bike = more stable at high speeds but not that much maneurevable at lover speeds.
Hi Gabriel, great question! We have covered this topic in part over a few videos. We have linked a couple below that will hopefully help you out. đ

@@gmbntech hello I have 170mm fork on a scott ransom 910 2021 I bought a kashima grip2 180mm would be fine to install it wonât affect the geometry?
That's what Iove about SR Suntour QSP (quick service parts) you can adjust the the travel of your forks at home without affecting your warranty at all. Did mine on 3 Suntour Epixon forks... Awesome.. And the new Auron forks are the bomb
I have a 2019 rockhopper, with a 100mm suntour xcr air, I know it can be adjusted to 120mm internally. Is this okay?
can you adjust the travel of any air fork brands? like maxzone?
I have a 2011 Trek X-Cal with a Reba RL fork. I keep seeing different things about it.
Thank you for these awesome videos. I transitioned from a Cube Stereo TM to a Pivot trail 429. The former has a Pike 150, the later a Fox 34 (I think set up for 120 travel) I was wondering if you could give me pointers as to how to extend my Fox factory 34 to 140 travel? I did some research and it seems the Trail 429 frame is design to take between 120-140 travel. Thank you so much for your help! #AskGMBNTech
I have the old 8speed gripshifts shifters on my retro bike, and I really really hate them because of involuntarily shift.
Slackerizer is AWESOME.
I was thinking of increasing my fork travel from 110mm to 130mm, would having the angle cups help give it a more modern geo? i have a 2014 specialized camber comp
I ran the eagle grip GX on my XC bike last year to try it out. I have same opinion as Neil is was annoying to constantly have to move your hand on the bar and sometimes you end up just riding with your hand resting on the grip ready to shift which isn't ideal. However I did enjoy using it as it there is less effort to shift and its much faster shifting. I still have the shifter and may put back on for less aggressive long distance riding. On another note it completely chewed up my inner cable and eventually stopped working? Im not sure if this was the shifter? oh and its not a lot of money to spend if you already have Eagle. GX is like $40
Grip shifts are popular with the fat bikers. Winter riding requires warm bulky gloves so less dexterity is required with grip shifts.
Hi mate, I bought a entry level bike as I was not fully sure if I was going to get into MTB, Its a Polygon D5, I have already added a dropper, Shorter stem & a microshift advent 9 speed with derailleur/clutch BUT it came on horrible Suntour Coil Forks, front and rear is 120mm but I was just wondering how much I could go up in terms of travel without putting too much pressure on the frame before I purchase my airshocks? thanks.
on grip shifters vs triggers, my x5 will change 4 gears at once if i press the lever far enough.
Whut mate đ€đđ
I have a 2016 RockShock Revelation 130 mil travel on my intense Spider 27.5. I was thinking of replacing the fork with a 140or 150 mil travel with something like the Pike select that has room for a 29â wheel. But can I just adjust my current revaluation with a new air tube?
Hi Sir. By the way....I love your videos!!!! I just started biking....and I bought a Trek ProCaliber 9.7, the maximum travel for the fork is 110mm based on the specs, but can I still.put a Rockshox SID ultimate 120mm travel.on my bike? Will.it fit?

Why do hardtail MTBs tend to have a thru axle at the front, but a quick release at the rear, when it's the rear end that takes more impacts? I know riders like control of the front etc but every bike I have the rear bearings/axle area always go first!! Its majority of my repairs/expenditure! (Thinking about upgrading to the 'nukeproof' scout?)
I have a Cannondale trail 6, and it has a 100mm travel fork. It has the old school 1 1/8" steerer, what fork would you recommend around ~$300? and could I put a 120-130mm travel fork without changing the bike too much (or would it still ride pretty good) ty (it has a 100mm suntour fork)
Great video
#AskGMBNTech Hey Doddy! Can you go through the pros & cons of press fit BB's? Seems like the majority of people don't care for them, yet more manufacturers (YT and Canyon this year) seem to be including them in new bike kits. Wondering why. Love the show and thanks for all you do to help keep our rigs trail ready!
I've got a 2020 Scott Strike ebike with 140mm travel front and back, I've just pickup a set of 36mm Fox Factory ebike fork set for 140 travel, but It comes with the option of converting to 160mm travel, is that too much of a jump and will it effect the handling ?
I have a 2021 giant trance 3 29er & was wondering if a can upgrade the suspension to give me more travel?
#askgmbntech I just set my wheels up tubeless and noticed a bad wobble from side to side.the whole bead line is showing and it did POP when installed with soapy water. I used tire levers to wrench the tire off, could that have stretch/damaged the bead.
Hi, I have fox factory 32 forks, about 2014 model. My bike is a trek superfly 9.8 hardtail. I was servicing the forks and noticed in the airshaft that there seemed to be adjustment options from 100 to 120 to 130mm travel. I moved the roll pin and slid the stopper along to 120mm travel, re assembled and was pretty happy. Problem is at the end of travel at the forks full length, the forks are making a knocking sound. Im thinkin I need to go back to 100mm as it was.
Does anyone know if 120 is achievable with what I have done, am I missing something? Any help is appreciated.
Rob
Iâve got a Kona Process X with 170mm travel in front but want to add a 190mm fork would that be a huge change in handling or would it put a lot of stress on the frame
#ASKGMBNTECH could you do a video on correctly tightening your wheel cones up please. Thanks Joe.
Anyone help me on info.. I have a 2021 trek marlin 5 that I am slowly upgrading parts on. Im getting a epixon fork with air suspension, and ditching the stock coil. Should i get 100mm or 120? I am 6ft 7 on a xxl frame. Will the 20 additional mm benefit me because my height, like will it feel more my size, or should I stick with 100mm? I live in north Illinois. Pretty flat but we do have some technicals xc corses. I am just afraid if I buy and install a 120mm my bike will be slower or feel funny.
Hi. I bought 2015 bike with fox 32 evolution ctd 100mm. Then I noticed that on the left side where is the air chamber, there is a little bubble. I Have a Bronson with a 150 mm fork , this is too much travel for my local trails, I know how too and have the kit to reduce the fork down to 130mm but what do I have to do to the rear shock to balance that to 130mm as well? Can it be adjusted from 150 to 130 or is a new shock required? Also will changing the travel on the Bronson down to 130 affect the handling?

#AskGMBNTech Hey Doddy, I'm having an issue where I get creaking whenever I put power to the pedals. I've traced it to have something to do with the rear wheel because if I take the wheel out and put it back in the issue goes away for a while. I usually have to do this about once a ride. Any idea what it could be?

Hi i have a question can i add 10mm on my fork i have 36 fox orange with 160 travel the fork i have on my bike is rockshox yari with 150 travel.is that ok? Please respond thanks
so you have a 150mm yari? If so yes it will be fine to add a 160mm 36. Make sure everything will fix eg taper, break mounts, axels and so one. Adding 10mm will slacken you head angle by 0.5 degrees. Eg 66 degrees with a 150mm fork it will be 65.5 degrees with a 160mm fork. Also you will want to only add fork travel by 20mm max for the manufactured travel. Hope this helps
Your videos have taught me so much!
If I am riding with a 152mm shock in the back, then what is the largest fork I can ride in the front? you defo got a yeti sb6 haha, you need a carbon compound....parktool supergrip carbon compound or finish line fibre grip or anything similar, pretty sure youd be fine with front fork all the way up to 180mm, if you check out enduro yeti riders for your year of bike like richie rude had 180 up front when he was riding sb6
