    Finally a video about posture. I have been playing valorant for more than a year know and reached a peak of immortal 1. During the time that i was getting better, I got very interested in the posture that pro players used. I noticed that having a different posture (chair height, monitor distance,...) really had a huge impact on my aim. I tried to do some research about this but couldn't find anything online. After a while I created an issue where I kept on changing my setup, this lead to me playing inconsistent and deranking. I simply fixed this by just not touching my setup anymore.

      A new, "better" mouse can only improve your aim, when the old one is what is holding you back. And it only really makes a difference at the very top level.
      Basically every "proper" mouse from any reputable brand of the last 10 years or so is fine for the normal "plays ranked at home" person.
      Most people don't need 8khz or 25000 dpi. And if you're at the skill level where that makes a difference, you probably make enough money with the game that you can afford a new mouse anyway.
      So posture, positioning, grip, bad habits, bad decision making, that will become the limit much earlier before you notice that your deathadder v2 pro can't keep up.

    Great video, the points you bring up are spot on!
    My arm placement used to be as shown in 1:17 and I subconsciously adjusted it more forward, like at 1:58, except I never flared out to the side. This gave me serious shoulder and neck issues, constant tension every day for easily over a year. A rather thick desk and a bad chair messed me up.
    I also felt restricted in my mouse movement due to this bad positioning, which sucked as I tend to play at a very high level. I aimed worse in FPS games, and had way less control in OSRS.

After 1-2 years of upgrading and correcting/adapting things I've got a nearly perfection setup that allows me to work (programmer here) and game at competitive level without any arm, hand, back, wherever body part pain. One tip I can for sure ad here is, for those who already have a bend forward posture problem, every round start (10s) straigh up your posture and do a stretch exercise using your hand (5s for each) to touch your back passing you elbow behind your head, after some time try to correct your posture within the game and be more aware. In a couple months your posture will for sure improve.

I am not a native english speaker, but hear me out -- I did a research paper on the topic and found that not relaxing your eye lenses for long periods of time is the biggest contributor to worsened eyesight, thus creating the need for glasses. This is really helpful. I went through almost all of what you discovered by myself and always thought that I’m that rare weird guy who is too OCD about setup being optimal and consistent. Happy to see you enlightening the aim community in that regard.
    Another interesting topic in terms of posture is how your forearm position affects your ability to aim in straight lines horizontally rather than diagonally. For example, if both your thumb and pinky side metacarpals are flat on the mousepad, the mouse itself ends up angled weirdly inside the palm and it leads to this “diagonal” aim effect which screwed up my tracking a lot. Ergo mice are notorious in that regard. The moment I started paying attention to mouse and forearm rotation it helped with aim consistency a lot.
    Another side effect is that keeping the palm flat increases the tension in forearm and wrist which could lead to RSI.

    I went through all of these things (minus the gaming chair). With a proper height desk, goods ergo office chair and a monitor stand I am able to aim much better and without pain. Additionally, I found using a 60% keyboard for gaming really help free up space for mouse movement. With my old full keyboard I found myself running into it with the mouse all the time.

    • @Xx0ME0xX
      @Xx0ME0xX Před 7 měsíci

      100% agree on 60% keyboards. Anything less than a standard full keyboard is much better. It lets you use a lower sens in games where it helps which gives you more precise control. Even tenkeyless is good, but the smaller the better. I have a tenkeyless keyboard and i end up hitting the wall to my right more than my keyboard, probably because i'm more confident turning that way, but the more space you have, the more distance you have left and right to aim.

    Actual good tips. I play guitar, and the position of the body and arms and legs is everything. Actually, once you start looking at posture in a discipline, you kinda start to see the same pattern emerge in everything, how you sit while playing, while at work, how you sleep, how you drive, etc.. because it's that big of a factor to take into account. Now i'm far from perfect, it's super hard to break habits, or go out of your way to improve small things like posture, but it pays off, always.

    Wow, thanks for making this video! a
    About a year ago, now, I changed to a different desk and got a different gas shock, and man I had no clue that was going to absolutely kill my muscle memory that I had built up for years. Now it's just not fun because my aim is so much worse. But doing it the right way that keeps you in a good posture is key, so I'm going to give it ago. And wow, I never really realized how limited you were with a gaming chair like that.

    I've never seen someone talk about the flared out parts on the back of the gaming chair being a bad thing before, but this is one of the most annoying things about them imo. They cause you to sit forward or you sort of jut your shoulder out and forward at times and it can cause a ton of stress and pain.
