Watching this seminar confirmed how good and practical Kevin's material is for me. His work is phenomenal covering concepts and practical skills. The seminars should be essential study for all Police officers.

I really enjoyed this section in the series. Taking the back is one of the pivotal strategies that is easy to get wrong but takes practice to get right. This along with your other trainings in studio are fantastic!
If you don’t already have this, you absolutely need to get it!!

    Interesting and good content.
I´ve seen so many throws that rely on a push-pull principle. This makes me wonder now, when it´s a good idea and when not.
The first throws that come to my mind are the classic leg sweep and pushing someones chin up and back while pulling the crotch to you. In both cases, the center of rotation is right in the middle and both points are nearly of equal lever from said point.

Your answer is in the question. If you want the guy to fly for a manifest fall to wow the crowd or get points, push and pull simultaneously on your sweep . If you want to drive their head down , hook your leg behind and fix it and drive only their upper body down . If you want maximum destruction, load the leg and sweep the leg while bracing but not pushing the shoulders. Your goal determines what you use

@@systemacanada I honestly still, don´t fully understand it.
I once tried to do a leg-sweep and it became a leg-hooking contest as neither of us was in a dominant position.
If I just push above, while keeping him from stepping back, then he can still use his entire core to combat the strength in my arm. The exception would be if I push him under the chin (which I´m not allowed in my belt color).

edi check out any of my material on voids And densities. I’ll see if I can find some stuff on leg sweeps . It’s a very common misconception which is why we teach it in level one structure. If it’s not internalized early on it really invites too much muscling. I’ll find a clip
