Probably would result in a "Majin Vegeta" situation. They get a power boost without being mind controlled.
Exactly. Vegeta wasnt even able to really be controlled. If it just unlocked Frieza's potential, Babidi would have no way to actually control him
@cobaltlance18 Babidi didn't even have complete control over Dabura either even. Dabura disobeyed Babidi once Dabura understood Buu was too unpredictable and powerful to control.

Dabura´s ["Prime Directive"] was to protect Babidi (including from his own mistakes/stupidity); so when he rationally deducted that Babidi was taking too big of a risk with Boo, he willingly choose to disobey ["Second Directive"] his wishes in order to keep him safe.
-> The ["Third Directive"] is to protect himself, just in case he has later to perform some task [2nd] or defend his master [1st].
Honestly they weren't on earth very long either if you think about it

Anyone who's a writer or has more than a passing familiarity with how fiction works knows about in-universe and out-of-universe logic. Whenever you say something like "because the writer didn't think of it yet" you're disregarding the other half of the equation.

@@LSMMIKE Perhaps a "middle ground" could be achieved; were mirai!Trunks is given control of the whole "sector" of space that includes Earth [as well as the mothership of Freeza & all of his servants in it, as a "bonus"]; with King Cold simply waiting for his own mothership to "pick him up".
. This way Trunks can ensure that the "Cold Empire" would not be an issue for the Terrans anymore (while still possibly getting some trade agreements in the future, in exchange for mutual military help in case of invasions from other galaxies).
-> King Cold would simply go back to his old methods of rulership and/or bringing back his other son: Cooler.
As a bonus:
. Since Trunks is the (future) son of Bulma [the defacto "Princess of Earth"] & Vegeta [another "Prince" of a species that (now) solely lives on Planet Earth]; he would be able to nominate them as "Regents" in his absence (a simple DNA test would confirm this fact).
-> There is no need for King Cold to know about the time travel shenanigans; since between the (in-vitro "accelerated growth" vats) & the ("magical time dilation room" of local god/Kami), the "origin" of Trunks can be rationalized by adding some "fun" adventures to Vegeta´s first arrival to Earth).

Babidi's spell works only anyone with evil in their heart. Vegeta only resisted Babidi's complete control because of the desperation to fight Goku and his indomitable will.

Vegeta was an exception, Babadi himself directly says "this has never happened before." When Vegeta resisted him. It was meant to show Vegeta was special and his will was so powerful that he was able to overcome the impossible. He could control Frieza, pretty easily as well since Dabura was thousands of times stronger then Frieza was.
I personally wonder why Babidi never tried to control Piccolo and return him back to his Demon King self.

because that side of Piccolo was literally dead and gone... Picocolo is basically pure good at this point, more so than any of the Saijans...

He fused with kami so I guess Kami may have kept piccolo from being a slave. I don't know if this was in the manga but in the anime bibidi does talk to Piccolo and tries to persuade him

The colored varied a lot in the manga. Sometimes, Trunks was drawn with red hair for example, even as a Super Saiyan.
Toriyama liked to mix it up like Araki in JoJo. However, the anime adaptation rarely accounted for this stylistic choice.

Another possibility is that perhaps Babbdi tried to take over Frieza, but Frieza was able to resist. We know that Babbidi's magic was not all-powerful. Vegeta was able to resist it eventually. So it's entirely possible that Frieza was able to resist it too. Like Vegeta, Frieza was incredibly strong-willed and selfish. Part of falling under the Majin spell is you can't just be evil, you also have to be willing to submit to someone else. And frieza, who was used to giving orders not taking them, would not have been willing to do this. Neither would king cold.
I thought of this too… I can’t imagine Freeza doing anyone’s bidding. He’s more arrogant than Vegeta, even when Vegeta was evil by my estimation, and absolutely believed he had the right to rule everything in the universe. So even the temptation of more power at the cost of obedience would likely have him laughing derisively in Babidi’s face. And any attempt by Babidi to magically summon him to him would likely be met with a death beam before the smoke even clears. Babidi probably saw him as too dangerous, even with Dabura on his side. Also, I’m not entirely sure, but I think the actual extent of Freeza’s power may not have been known before he fought Goku, and Babidi may have overestimated him and chose not to approach him out of an abundance of caution.
That’s definitely a possibility especially since I believe Ki can actually help give u mental defenses.
Then again his spell did work on Dabura effectively, someone far stronger than Frieza but weaker than Majin Vegeta
Nah, Babidi's Magic was very powerful, Vegeta was a special case, it's stated often in the Manga and Anime that Babidi's magic SHOULD have worked on Vegeta. Freeza in Z was not that mentally strong, most villains in Z aren't, even Vegeta early on wasn't that mentally strong until after he got SSj. Freeza in Super would likely have the mentality to resist Babidi because he was given a bigger scope as a person, but in Z he was very one note, and would easily fall to Babidi.

I wouldn’t say Freeza wasn’t mentally strong necessarily. Again, I believe one of the things that make up Ki involves the mind, which should give some form of mental resistance.
( I could be wrong on this tho)
Also I’m if Freeza was mentally weak, he wouldn’t have been able to survive being cut in two and left floating in space as well as he did.
But the problem is as u said, Babiddi’s magic is actually strong. If it could work on Dabura, who is stronger than Freeza, then it should at least work on Freeza and anyone weaker than Dabura

Love the video. There is also another very valid reason if you use the DB super continuity as well....Frieza stated that his father told him to never fight Beerus or Majin Buu. Therefore it is highly unlikely that King cold or Frieza would aid Badidi in resurrecting Buu since he would pose an immediate threat to them both.

As we see in the series Babidi kept a very small group under his control. Going after Frieza would draw huge galatic attention, as Frieza was known across the whole universe. Dabra was likely doing his own thing in the Demon Realm, and so would be unheard of by most, and a much better target for Babidi's control.
As well once Babidi established his group with Pui Pui, Yakon, and Dabra, he probably felt it unnecessary to go after any further warriors.

I think the main reason is besides those three and the Z fighters on earth, after Frieza’s death, no one else in the universe was stronger as the android saga beings stronger than Frieza were all made on earth
There probably were other evil warriors besides Freeza's force around universe 7 that Babidi would have considered to bring to his side. But none of them were as strong as Pui Pui, Yakon and Dabura. There were not that many evil beings in Universe 7 that were as strong as or stronger than the Ginyu force which is probably where Pui Pui's power level was tiered at.
So the warriors Babidi had at his side were in all actuality the best that he could find.

Any other evil being probably wouldn't be any stronger than the average Freeza force grunt, which wouldn't do.

I think it had a lot to do with the realm Babadi existed in. Dabura was the King of the Underworld and he was stronger than Freiza. So there's that plus his arch nemesis was in the land of the Kais. With that universal view his options was open to much more than Freiza and his Father.
I think part of the reason is the intel. When Babidi scouted the planet 300 years ago, there was no1 anywhere near Super Saiyan LV. So, based on his scan of the planet that long ago, Dabura alone probably seemed like overkill, meaning he didn't need to take over any1 that might draw unnecessary attention, like Frieza.
I think it was because he was too scared to test it, but by the time he got Dabura they were either too weak to seek out or dead.

The real answer is. Because Akira Toriyama hadn't thought of Babidi as a character at the time he was drawing Freeza and King Cold.
Toriyama wrote the series on the fly as he was going along.

Babidi's Majin curse is an incredibly powerful unlock potential spell for evil beings. But for some reason, it doesn't seem to be completely effective against beings who have very strong wills and sense of self. Like Vegeta.
That is, of course, the real life reason. We're looking for the in-story reason.
Putting aside the obligatory Toriyama didn't invent Babidi back then. My personal take is that Frieza and Kold, as mutants with potent telekinesis, likely had potent mental defenses that made brainwashing and mental manipulation very difficult to pull on them. Also someone as egotistical as Frieza would have eventually slipped Babidi's control like Vegeta did. Plus since Kold knew of Buu, he likely knew of the wizard lineage and might've either taught Frieza some kind of defense against mind control ,or, had some kind of deal with Babidi behind the scenes (Dunno what sort) Overall, I think I'm just running with the Kold family having strong mental defenses.

I think since in Resurrection F frieza mentioned how his dad told him to be cautious of buu that frieza's clan had some semblance of knowledge about the bibidi/babidi clan and probably shared no interest in releasing something that would be a contender for their control over the universe

16:45 [Correction]: Here Dabura answers the question of Babidi, because he knew how Earth was 300 years before that day.
This does not mean necessarily that Dabura was on Earth back then, but rather that he was "informed" about its status. This was probably because of the rise of King Piccoro, since he was using a similar title than Dabura (raising questions among other devils about his intentions regarding the demon world).
. Babidi himself was NOT on planet Earth before a few weeks earlier than the Tournament. Unlike Dabura (who had access to divine portals), he needed a spaceship to reach this planet. It is also implied that he just recently found about the location of Majin Boo was on Earth.
-> Only then he started with his "Master Plan" [gathering powerful evil people first, then taking possession of Boo´s egg].
Then, the main reason why Babidi did not considered King Cold & Freeza, is because they were already DEAD by the time he actually needed "bodyguards" [as soon as he would approach "Majin Boo´s Tomb", he will get the attention of the Supreme Kai (who even alone may be able to override his magical shield with his divine powers & then kill him).
. Given that Babidi also recruited Dabura & went to Earth in the timeline of future!Trunks; it is likely the case that he was not aware that Freeza was killed on that planet (or that he died for that matter).
-> Given the difference of power between Dabura & Freeza (that Babidi would likely know as how it was pre-Namek); it was kinda irrelevant (much like Freeza also considering Dodoria for a difficult task, when he already had the Ginyu Force).
The few other combatants with Babidi were also probably the "crew" for his spaceship (trained/talented in its maintenance & navigation).
Cold and Frieza were surrounded by so many other people with high power levels. The second he tried it, some one else would kill him. Also when did he obtain control over Dabura? How recent was that to when he showed up on Earth?
Babidi wouldn't need to be near them to do it. He can do it literally through if his crystal ball has them in view in the same proximity.

Babidi did NOT wanted to mess around with an "Space Empire" like the one of Freeza, because he would be risking other wizards like him (or sorcerers like Ginyu) to be also involved.
-> There has to be a reason why Freeza never fear Ginyu betraying him (trying to posses his body, or the one of his father).
. My personal theory is that there were some "anti-magic" precautions set on Freeza´s body (perhaps permanent enchantments), as well as on some other important people roles across his Empire. You only need to find a few wizards able to provide this services (convincing them to work only for you) to remove this kind of "risks" universe-wide.
. Allowing Ginyu to keep a very powerful body as well as one of the highest positions OUTSIDE of the "standard hierarchy" of Freeza´s army was likely the result of a Pact [that actually worked, since both of them have proven to be "loyal to each others", as seen later on Super].

Become the guardian of his home world, granting a very limited access to god Ki
Ate fruit from the tree of might
Successfully made the wish for immortality
Become a Android by Dr Gero
Had his potential unlocked by Babidi with Majin boost
Honestly, one could even argue that it would be a similar result as with Vegeta, that they would become strong enough to resist and fight off his control to use their new power as they please, but that goes off of the thought that he gains an immense amount of power that would allow him to do so, such as his golden form. Vegeta was able to do so as a Super Saiyan 2, so Frieza being able to do so with his Golden form, which is vastly more powerful, or even his Black form, isn't too far fetched depending on how you look at it. Plus no one gets in the way of his revenge against Goku.
Other than the obvious, it is a fascinating prospect...not like it would matter.
I haven't watched the vid, but my two cents, because he wasn't there at the time. Vegeta was a special case, Babidi's magic worked on everyone but him, I think it would have worked on Freeza and Cold, but he wasn't a thing at the time. If you really wanna go with my headcanon, it's simply that Babidi didn't wanna draw the attention of the entire Universe. His Magic may be selective, to where it can't work on tons of people, so if he did try to use it on Freeza, Zarbon and Dodoria would have attacked. One could also easily assume that Dabura was very recent company, as Kaioshin wasn't aware that Babidi got him.

The kili measurement of power is something else. It's really confusing if you use the intel from V-Jump which states each unit of kili is equal to 50,000 (in Scouter measurements).
Yakon has 800 kili or a power level of 40,000,000 (he'd be weaker than 50% Frieza who had a power level of 60,000,000).
Super Saiyan Goku (well, I suppose Full Power Super Saiyan Goku) had a 3,000 kili reading or power level reading 150,000,000 putting him at the exact power of his first Super Saiyan transformation on Namek!
You could argue that it makes sense because Goku was most likely holding back A LOT of power. With the only reason he transformed in the first place was because he wanted to light up the arena he was fighting in because it was so dark.
Yakon is a lot stronger than just Freeza's 100% final form.
Remember, Babidi's spell brings out the inner evil potential of his minions.
Yakon is very likely on par with Android 19 in power.
@@pianoandguitarlover2773 well remember that the kili reading of Goku was in the moment and Babidi blurted out 800 for Yakon because he knows his power well and that 800 is a kili reading of post mind control so he in theory could still be weaker than 100% Frieza

I think it was due to it were two of them. I would assume he want take control of multiples all at once or possibly like what Vegeta went through... maybe the others were tempted with abilties and powers.
Seeing how reluctant Freeza was to train, and I'm sure Cold was the same, I don't think Babidi would've been able to tempt them in such a way, which might let his presense be known to the whole empire, which might lead to him being found.
He could've probably gotten those under Freeza like maybe someone in the Ginyu Force or something though, if he wanted to try. Some like Guldo, which could be really bad under Babidi's control.
All and all, probably an oversight.
I think it would have been better writing if they had inserted a mention of why it never came to be.
My in verse reason would be that controlling an army would have been too noticeable since they were trying to be secret. Having someone as strong as he did, he probably favored having a small crew vs a giant army doing suspicious acts.
5:04 no he is simply much cooler. According to my calculation as a power scaler- Suppressed Mecha Freeza is at 60,000,000 which is what Trunks murdered him at. At his full power I would give Freeza 200,000,000 (1.6 times stronger than on Namek). For K. Cold I gave him 250,000,000. I know Babidi didn't exist at the time but let's for the sake of it say that he did. No chance he didn't know about Freeza and K. Cold. Option 1- Maybe he thought they would be too difficult to control. After all the prince showed resistance to his spell, so maybe he didn't want to take that chance. Option 2- Not wanting to catch the attention of Shin like you said, as he can defeat both villains easily.
Fun fact, my first complete experience with dragon ball, was budakai 2 where Frieza and Cell become majin after being revived by babidi completely skewing the plot to my perception😂😂
I wouldn't mind a saga by saga comparison of GT to Super. A series of videos. The anime we didn't want w good character progression... versus the anime we thought we wanted... w awful character regression

If there's an in universe reason, maybe Babidi hibernates. 5 million years is an insane length of time for a mortal and compared to Bibidi, who he's basically a clone of, Babidi is old and wrinkled. He might only be actives for a few years every few centuries just so he doesn't die of old age before he can unleash Buu. If he's been in stasis for almost 300 years he could've missed Cold and Frieza's reigns entirely. Plus you'd think if he was out there active for such a ridiculous amount of time he would've unleashed Buu long ago

King cold knew about Buu so by extension they probably knew about the wizards but I like to head canon that Frieza and Cold are not evil but transactional business minded. Frieza only hates/fears super saiyans. Even blowing up planet Vegeta was debatable because it would set him back financially and schedule wise.

Just imagine trying to make physical contact with world leaders... but in galactic scale.
Nothing suggest their appearance were known to the large public either: remember also Vegeta, one of their military asset in the past, was simply told frieza had a second form.

Babidi had Dabura who was much stronger than both of them combined- long before Freeza got his amps. Also both had egos of being the most powerful beings in the universe- Freeza’s ego couldn’t tolerate being outclassed despite begging for a chance to live- how’d he feel if he was subjugated to another when he subjugated others
Out-of-universe reason: Toriyama didn't really plan for DBZ after the Namek saga.
In Universe reason: Babadi wouldn't go for Frieza since he's trying to hide from the Kaioshin of the universe. Mind controlling a galactic tyrant known throughout most of galaxy as a mass murderer would've drawn way too much attention to him.
There's no confirmation as to when he possessed Dabura, but we can assume it was recent since Kaioshin didn't know that he was under Babadi's control.
Not to mention before DBS, Kaioshin claims he can one-shot Frieza.
So basically, adding Frieza to the forces wasn't a good idea overall.
It definitely would've been doable since Babidi's magic isn't really issue of power, but of alignment. That said, it would be a terrible move strategically.

Taking over either King Cold or Frieza or even anyone from the Frieza force might draw unnecessary attention to Babidi. Supreme Kai could easily detect and make a move toward him.
The reason why Badidi didn't controlled King Cold and Frieza is because they were already dead. Also Badidi doesn't know how to revive beings from the dead like Shenron.
Plenty of reasons, for one if Babidi summoned Freeza and King Cold, Freeza wouldn't of even let him speak before shooting a death beam between his eyes for daring to summon the emperor of the universe and getting in the way of his quest for immorality (I'm putting the summoning during the Namek saga as that seems to be when the Supreme Kai ended up losing track of considering how shocked he and Kaibito was of Super saiyan capabilities.) There's also the fact that like Vegeta and Majin Buu, if you possess a strong enough will you can generally resist Babidi, and Freeza is willful to an insane degree enough so that even when given a chance to live he'd rather kill Goku for embarrassing him.
Maybe babidi himself isn’t strong enough to be able to control certain levels of power and mental fortitude, he was able to take over grunts because of their weak wills and low-tier power but when trying to control people such as vegeta he struggles
At least in the games bibidi can also revive people.
Resurrection - Babidi is able to resurrect people through magic in some video games. He uses this power to bring Frieza and Cell back to life in Dragon Ball Z: Budokai 2, and to bring Frieza back to life Dragon Ball Z: Supersonic Warriors 2.
Completely unrelated but why were the colors for the Supreme Kai and Kibito switched in the anime?
I always like to assume that Babidis minions all represent the previous villians of Z at their max power so it would go like this
Generic Henchmen -1200 PL equal to Saibamen
Yamu - 12,000 PL equal to Great Ape Raditz
Spopovich- 40,000 PL equal to Great Ape Nappa
Pui Pui - 180,000 PL equal to Great Ape Vegeta
Yakkon - 120,000,000 PL equal to full power Frieza
Dabura - Equal to Super Perfect Cell
We got a similar what if in budokai 2 (Underated). Not exactly instead it’s cell and Frieza and Buu can be become Majin Bell, and Majin Burieza

Babidi needs to get energy from a Majin character fighting, and nobody was strong enough to rival Freeza for it to work. Freeza & Cold were too strong (though he could have just had them fight each other and that would work.)
Beerus would be asleep and maybe because Frieza won't let himself be controlled and killed babidi
majin frieza did happen if you count the PS2 game budokai 2, same with majin cell. I haven't played that one in years. is there a way to unlock their majin forms or are they just story mode exclusives?
I'm gonna say Babadi simply couldn't get close enough to King Cold and Freiza especially looking at Super as cannon it's possible either through Beerus of legends he thought to be true King Cold knew of the existence of Majin Buu and the being who controlled him or what to look for namely the M stamped on a persons forehead so if anyone had such a mark to would be a quick message to Cold and Freiza along with a swift death sentence. So while Babadi could have used summoning magic given what we see in the series I think Babadi has to be a certain distance toward his target and at least say be on the same planet as them so if Babadi had Dabura with him he thought the risk was too great at either him being destroyed or his ultimate mission of reviving Buu being lost if he even went near Freiza or King Cold.

I think the reason is that Frieza nor King Cold would want the fighting power increase from the Majin curse because they wouldn't even need it. Frieza killed off the saiyans and the remaining ones (Vageta, Napa, and Radditz) were so far below Frieza that they weren't a concern for the Sup[er Saiyan myth.
The only reason debura was stronger than super perfect cell is because of bobbitys magic. That is I’m guessing it’s not a fact.

Idk abt King Cold but i highly doubt Frieza could be mind controlled. He clearly had psychic abilities able to move many objects with his mind using telekinesis which would mean hed have control of his thoughts.
Cause they are straight garbage by that point, nothing would have come from it, Cell would be the better option.
