You plugged your esc into the 2nd steering channel. You can run 2 servos off that reciever. First 2 spots are channel 1

Do all the the Traxxas 2WD brushed XL-5 cars always need to have the blue antenna stick out of the body shell? Or can you keep them under the body shell when driving? thx

No you don't, you can neatly hide it along the body and forget about it. Some people lose them after rolls or crashes anyway.

I was going to just swap my 3s x system off my arrma onto my rustler. But does converting the existing set up on the rustler to run 3s destroy it? I have to think it's not going to last long but would it survive a few speed runs for a small video series? Awesome video BTW

Hi and thanks! Converting it to 3S won't necessarily destroy it. The tires will wear faster and the motor will just "burn out" sooner than it would have on 2S or the 8v niMh battery. All the stock parts can handle the torque of the Titan 12T just fine. Be careful of crashes at this point too, 3S speeds can break it. It's going brushless that requires reinforced drive shafts and tires at least. Traxxas does carry axles that are better than stock but not as expensive as the "greased and booted" brushless axles. Man, that HW1080 is a beast on a crawler, how well does it hold up in a basher? What motor did you pair it with? I got a Rustler XL5 for my cousin and his kids, and am already thinking about what upgrades to get for them. Waiting for the right time to make the jump to LiPo batteries. We never had nothing like this growing up, but it would have been a whole lot cooler if we did. = )

It's the stock Titan 12T motor. For bashers, get the RPM brand parts to become virtually indestructible. The HW1080 is excellent. Programmable and works for both the NiMh batteries and Lipo. Great 4 those who want to transition into lipo while brushed before going brushless. And choosing 2s vs 3s are very different investment paths. I skipped 2s. I've even used that esc on smaller motors rated at 9v/12v no problem. Speaking of the motor, 2S is just fine, 3S... heatsinks and fans required while keeping runs times less that 5-10mins or else smoke then meltdown and heat kills its overall life expectancy. Just 3S eats the brushes alone. Started gutting old 9-12V drills for motors. I even went and got a 17T motor with changable brushes and the coil inside glowed red and burnt out. Crazy to see but amazing experience! Oh and get a wheelie bar for sure. Uncontrollable. 35-45mph is still impressive. But Stay geared low. Eventually gave in to brushless and it changed everything on maintenance. Runs nearly forever now, unscathed and tops 60mph on 3S.
That's why I love pumping up the older cars (now vintage, geez) with this new tech; Servos, throttle control and high voltage. All are itching for unlocked potential, some are incredible for their time.
