im on my first playthrough and on the last day of fall and was wondering what to do for the winter, this video helped me realize i did nothing and my farm is doomed
same :((( just found this video, i didnt even unlock the greenhouse or else
Oh god same
yeap im in 22 fall i am thinking about starting again
I'm on my second play-through, abandoned the first half-way through summer being constantly broke and not able to to anything. Second play-through, I'm at mid winter, not totally just kinda broke, but unable to do anything. Third time the charm...?
@@PrinsPrygel I did not get the green house but i dont think I should leave my playthrough since I am rich and doing pretty well so far
Remember you can always follow this guide through year 2 and that theres no extra rewards for finishing community center in year 1
Thanks for saying that I felt pretty bad that I didn’t get it done lol
I’m sure there’s mods for it, and I understand how it does KINDA go against the idea of the game. However, I really wish there were something included, even if it were just a statue. But thank you for making me aware! I hadn’t seen anything, but until now hadn’t actually seen a no
It wasn't until I was half way through my Year 1 Fall that I realised that his guides were speed runs 😅 I could only ever do 30-40% of the things he mentioned. I don't know how anyone can farm, fish, mine and cultivate relationships to "completion" within Year 1. But his guides gave me great targets to work for, which allowed me to level up well. I'm a few days away from Winter and am Level 7s Farmer and Forager 🎉
Well… except for self fulfilment that you done it in one year.
Doing my first winter now and I'm 3 minutes into this video and I'm not convinced we're playing the same game lol
ikr ?? I guess I maybe should’ve watch before I even started the game
@@Alifinor there's always another year. I'm on fall year 2 and didn't even unlock greenhouse.
I feely you, i feel like a noob
11:37 "Now, the killer." *dramatic music, flames, red cabbage LOL
13:47 Take a fishing pole with the talisman to the witch's swamp: There's a 25% chance to fish void mayo out of the water, and you can hand it to the Henchman right away.
Wow!!! Just started playing a couple months ago and had NO IDEA it had so many amazing features. I'm so glad I randomly bought this game I am in love with it. It's endless!
Stardew is one of my favorite games of all time for a reason! Plus 5 years of updates have filled up the game pretty well!
@@salmence100 does the game end after year 3? I want to 100% it but everyone sounds hard pressed to do everything by year 1/2/3.
@@kenneth9249 no limit everyone is just obsessed with min/max-ing thier runs lol
@@kenneth9249 don't worry stardew is a game all about relaxing and taking your time so don't feel pressured into doing it fast
2 things that aren't covered in this guide (might be because of it being an older build?)
1. The traveling merchant sells the Nautilus Shell during spring. It's RNG, just like the Red cabbage seeds, but it makes it possible to finish that bundle before winter.
2. To get past the goblin in the witches cavern, you don't need to get a void chicken, you can just fish in the water next to him. Void mayonnaise is one of the "fish" available in these waters.
Bonus tip: if you touch the Reaper after obtaining the golden scythe you a warped back to the entrance!
I wished i knew this because i passed out trying to run back xD
Oh my!! I can't believe I've never heard this before. Definitely going to do this on my new switch perfection run. THANK YOU!!
This is my first year and I've been trying to find tips but also not spoil things. That being said, this is my first of your videos and I've done none if the things you said to do 😂 welp. I have no coop, no greenhouse, small barn, just completed the mine, etc pray for me yall
ok done
you are the only person whose stardew playthroughs i can sit through and they honestly make my days a lot better when i can watch them bc i can learn about a game i love without having to worry abt my own play through
Iridium sprinklers winter year 1 is crazy. I got them year 3 after the statue from Grandpa. Mining iridium was over my head grindy. And I completed the mines winter year 2 and fishing. Didn't attempt the skull cavern once until year 3. And got the greenhouse by fall year 2.
I neglected fishing yesr 1, so I caught up in winter on skillups.
A bit of an advanced tip for anyone new to the game watching this video, but when growing the Winter Seeds into the foraging items, I like to keep some Crystal Fruit and if I have the kegs for it to make wine out of them. They don't sell for as much as Ancient Fruit Wine or Star Fruit Wine, but Crystal Fruit Wine does sell for more than Crystal Fruit, which will boost your profits for winter. You may not have a lot of Ancient Fruit or Star Fruit in your greenhouse at the start of winter, if you have the greenhouse unlocked at all, but you will have an entire season to forage and turn those items into seeds to plant. If you keep making seeds after picking them, you can turn a quick profit selling what remains in addition to growing more as the season goes on. The more you grow, the more Crystal Fruit you have the potential to get, and the more Crystal Fruit you have after harvest, the more kegs you can fill up to make wine if you have kegs but don't have Ancient Fruit or Star Fruit. But first, you need to get to winter and have a high enough farming skill to have unlocked kegs in the first place.
On my first year of fall, didn't finish the green house but this is my first playthrough so I'm just enjoying the ride, but sadden that I won't have much of an option when winter hits, also hoping to get some animals soon, finished the mines though.
same2
@@noumin_0 you can spend a lot of time mining in winter and I also spent more time gathering gifts and I would spend fridays gifting everyone I could, since almost everyone is at the saloon Friday night.
As rich as I am I don't have much hay, 32 hay, so if I bring more animals I am surely going to starve them.
@@whosfredol5194 I know his is old, but you could always buy hay from Marnie!!
Started watching your channel about a week ago and I have no idea how you haven't been getting way more views than you have. You have great content and are now my go to channel for stardew. Keep it up bud, you'll get there
Demetrius sends you a nautilus shell in the mail if you’re good enough friends. The traveling merchant sells rabbits foot if you’re lucky, eliminating the need for a Deluxe coop in year 1.
Also you can get a truffle from the traveling merchant, eliminating the need for a deluxe barn.
also for the goblin, you can actually fish up a void mayo from the witches swamp if you don't want to buy from Krobus
that red cabbage moment was so hilarious, incredible work
For the silver quality wine. On ginger island, when gus is there, you can buy gold quality mango wine from him. That works for the movie theater bundle too
Uhhhhhh are people really this advanced their first play through in the first year? 😳😬
I don't 🤣
This guides is already more advanced in Spring than me in Fall.
It's not for a first playthrough, it's for the specific challenge of completing the community center in the first year. Your first playthrough should be having fun however you see fit. There isn't even a reward for finishing the cc so quickly. I never bother because I just wait until I can buy red cabbage seeds from Pierre in year 2. This way, I get a bonus to Kent's friendship from completing the bulletin board after meeting him.
This is probably year 3 for me😂
BRO I am like way behind 🤣 It feels like they have already played this before
The thing is, that most people just fish and every couple days or so enter the mines and only get about 5-10 levels down. Maybe 15 at lower levels if you're lucky with the ladder spawns. I just finished level 120 mines at Fall 12 or so, and didnt even have a barn. Never paid attention to cutting trees, only planted parsnips in spring, blueberries in summer, and cranberries in fall. I missed so many crop bundles because I never even went to the wizard tower until mid-late summer. I deeply regret it knowing that having a greenhouse would benefit me hugely. I cannot get my greenhouse until year 2 Fall at the earliest, because I still missed some fall crops in the bundles to get the greenhouse. This sucks 🤣 I've already invested 26 hours into this file at Winter 1 so my only option is just to go through winter fishing and mining and tending to my cows and chickens. Other than that, I got another 15ish hours until I can get my greenhouse. SUCKS. (also I don't want to sell the CC to joja. Takes away so much from the game. Maybe in another playthroufh :3)
Okay your intro on the red cabbage made me laugh out loud, so thanks for that 😆
Thanks so much for making these videos, they're so well made with so much useful info and not packed with spoilers for those of us on android without 1.5! You're very easy to listen to ❤
Your guides saved me and my husband so much time. Thank you for this quality content!
i just started playing (w/o watching walkthroughs, just googling for the wiki whenever i need help for gifts etc.) since last week and i can safely say your guides are very comprehensive and very useful!! i learnt a lot of the stuff you said here myself by trial and error and it was fun but i watched your guides just to make sure that i didn't miss anything.
keep up the good work! hopefully your channel will blow up soon bc this is really iridium quality content right here :D
p.s. i'm also lazy so i put in jade in my crystalariums to trade for staircases w/ the desert traders on sundays so i get to skip the monster infected levels in the skull cavern!!
I completely missed the Fiddlehead Fern, now I will have to wait until summer or count on prehistoric floors in a skull cavern which I am definitely not crazy enough to try.
Keep checking the traveling cart too, there's a chance it can show up!
@@salmence100 You bet I will!
Just a small note, once you grab the golden scythe you can click the statue again to warp out.
Also my red cabbage was sold as an actual plant at the night market, by the traveling merchant. I don’t know the chances of that, but it certainly helped to not have to gamble for the seeds.
The travelling cart can sell a red cabbage too. It's super rare and unlikely but in my current playthrough, the cart sold me a red cabbage (not the seed) in the middle of spring. I did miss a fish the first year (because it did not rain the entire fall) so it didn't completely matter but I was really lucky :)
You can grow winter seeds in winter. If you have a seed maker, only one winter root makes the winter seeds. Otherwise, all four of the winter forage.
I just want to say this video made me actually laugh multiple times 😂 the red cabbage portion with the music & the pause when you introduce “Willy’s back door” not sure if it was intentional but if it was- gold!
When you enter willys back door-
Loving these guides. Appreciate your work. New to the game and 40 hours in. Completely hooked. I got the tea set from Leah!
it's late fall and I haven't been playing suuper optimally (all of my bundles are lacking, I've *just* built a barn, and I'm barely friends with anyone) BUT I'm still turning a profit every day, and I'm having fun, and I think that's what's important :D
that being said, I'm totally keeping all of this in mind
the dramatic presentation of the Red Cabbage was... perfect.
Watched all 4, SO helpful. Thankyou so much for your time and info. 🎉❤
Thank You Salmence, this playlist is excellent.
Just purchased the game a few days ago and im alr in year 2 didnt knew all these tips. Thank you!!!
It took until my second winter to realise I could still farm using the winter seeds (even to realise there were winter seeds. They're pretty good to run every few days
Would love for a full on greenhouse guide! Your videos are really useful.
you can actually interact with the statue in the quarry dungeon and it will teleport you all the way back to the start.
I love your vibe! You, good sir, have got yourself a new subscriber :D
I'm glad you enjoyed the vibe, thank you!
I really love the videos. 🙂 Oh! You can also get voted marriage by finishing in the water at the witch's hut.👍
In the abandoned joja mart, if you are in winter and you want to start foing things for it. Use a rain totem
We love you, Sal.
I love you too
@@salmence100
@@salmence100I love you three
Im playing for the first time and boy oh boy this game is endless. Definitely years worth of playing
I see a lot of people saying things like they’re screwed because they didn’t fully prep for winter or they just discovered this vid and it’s to late and should restart. If so, then I disagree. If you don’t have a good source of income that gives you a great opportunity to do something like putting most of your focus to the mines and going as deep as you can, while also gathering as many materials as possible in the process. Ores and many other materials that are only found in the mines are some of the most important resources in the game. Set up a little area with a handful of chest on your farm and use them for storing all your mine goods. By the end of winter, you will be set for a while and it will be one less thing to worry about come the following seasons. There’s always a way to stay productive, but most importantly, just relax and have fun! Because that’s all that really matters in SV. (:
The point is,
*We* think that our entire save is screwed because we barely made any progress in our Year 1 compared to the guides. However most of us are new to the game, and probably playing our first playthrough.
I don't want to restart anymore, I put damn hours already and pretty lucky with some drops. But im not inspired to play and has no motivation.
We shouldn't compare ourselves to experienced players 🥹
@@Reymax164 I mean all that could’ve been avoided by paying attention when he said (at the start) that the guide was to complete community center on year 1 and you wouldn’t have suffered, it’s not a beginner’s guide, it’s a challenge guide 💀
I wish I've seen this video much early, I'm at the last day of Fall and I'm about to enter Winter. Better like next year.
I usually complete the CC by mid Autumn or beginning of winter, because of the red cabbage. I got it in mid Autumn this time around. Stresses me out getting those cabbages. Then ginger island in Spring year 2 for Kent.
Anyway I know it's late for commenting but I'm on switch, doing my second true perfection run for the forest farm while waiting for console update. I've been enjoying your contents so thanks for your tips. It's really helpful.
Tip for those who want to finish community center Year 1: check the traveling cart religiously for red cabbage AND rabbit foot!
Followed this guide for my new 1.6 save and ALMOST didn’t make it! I grind for every deadline and did so well financially, however the rabbit foot just never dropped😢 Had my deluxe coop ready at the end of the fall and purchased two rabbits immediately too. I was giving up and accepting the fact that I’m not finishing CC year 1. Then at Winter 28 the traveling cart had a rabbit foot for the first time. I screamed!
Now I can proudly say I officially finished community center in Year 1 😊 thanks Sal!
I'll always remember how in my first playthrough, I didn't know about the red cabbage, was only missing it and saw "Oh ok, it's unlocked in spring year 2" and it never unlocked at Pierre. He never started selling the damn seed. Had to wait for a travelling cart to finally have one (in like summer year 3). 😂
That red cabbage intro 🤣🤣🤣🤣 11:40
i already finished the first week of winter today(new player) and after watching these guides i noticed how many mistakes i did, i only just got the coop at the end of fall and havent upgraded any tools
That sounds like my first playthrough. I’ve started over my main farm like three times until I finally got all the things I wanted
@@salmence100 I was gonna restart too but I didn’t wanna my 20 hours of grinding on the first save to go to waste
i caught legend first month and got rusty key first playthrough i didnt get rusty key until summer of second year
first playthrough i didnt watch these videos but now they helped me a lot
Thanks for no spoilers!
Willys gonna ask me to go in his back door? Whaaaaaatttt? 😂😂 13:37
Huh, didn't know that about the tea set. Got one on my current save as my gift year 1.
wait so if i dont have any deluxe farm buildings or a greenhouse or have oasis unlocked… is my farm screwed??? like can i not just continue doing those things in year 2?
So funny. I managed to get a red cabbage from skull cavern grinding but forgot to get pigs early for truffles haha
God bless you I love this game and appriciate your advice
i got the cabbage the first time i checked the merchant and i didnt know how rare it was but i bought it, and it was not even the seeds it was the full grown thing, now that i know how important it is i feel so good to have it bought and donated to the community center
It just matters if you want to finish community center in first year.
Otherwise, you can just normally buy it in Pierre Starting Year 2 during Summers.
13:57 you can also fish up void mayo from the water in the witches swamp!!!!
I play remixed bundle, do I need to rush with the animals? I don't need them for the bundles, and I have big coop/barn.
Oh my god I just finished the fall guide I’m literally on winter day 2 thank you so much
Happy I can help!
@@salmence100 got swept away so now I’m at 20th of winter lol just need to put stuff in the centre and I’m done, really appreciate it :)
Not the boss music with the red cabbage 😂
Loved this 🥰
Thank you!
Bro I finished my greenhouse at the last day of fall and had money to fill it with starfruits and 1 ancient seed and two rare seeds
6:26 dont forget your cork bobber
This shows me how much I have been failing at the game lol. I haven’t done half this stuff yet. Just Vibing
best stardew valley channel
I found hops + kegs in the greenhouse more profitable than the starfruit setup!
also starfruit + keg doesnt beat pale ale
Seems my winter is going to be very different I've been neglecting the coop still only the basic one, I don't even have a barn..
But I might have the resources/gold to get a deluxe coop..
Maybe it's time to spam tea saplings again.
I didn't get a red cabbage seed from the trader....BUT a red cabbage 😂
if you haven't done the crop bundles, you can still buy a joja membership :)
kind of old but ive noticed it a few times but after you grab the golden scythe you can click on the statue to be teleported to the exit
I only bought one of each animal in my first year and it took from Summer 21 all the way until Spring 24 to get a single duck feather. Meanwhile I got 7 rabbits foot.
I got super lucky and received the tea set from Caroline, the one character it actually makes sense to receive it from, in my very first winter. I didn’t even realize it was rare at the time. I assumed it was a scripted event in whatever year that you’d visited her sunroom and gotten the tea sapling recipe.
Unnnnnfortunately, that file is on mobile and the tea set (along with what feels like everything else) has been bugged since its inception, meaning it can’t be placed on a table (without some jank control stuff, possibly). So literally the luckiest combo of character and gift, and all I’ve been able to do is let it sit in a chest for several in-game years because I guess mobile doesn’t get bug fixes. :(
While he's treating the red cabbage as a challenge I'm cursed with getting it everywhere I go
same have lots from trash can
I unlocked the movie Theatre and was too lazy and exited and did not give a rabbit's foot to get the lucky charm, (I had plenty of them)
I was unlucky and it rained that night thinking i could still do it after doing the last bundle.. if im wrong please tell me lol im on year 5. 😑
You should still be able to get the charm, have you gotten the secret note for it yet? It won't happen unless you have it
I don't think leveling Foraging is that rough. I usually have the fall wild seeds recipe unlocked before spring year 1 ends. Then again, I do usually play on the forest farm, and chop the stumps almost daily after upgrading the axe once. But that's easily supplemented with reserving a ~20 crop section for wild seeds on your farm. They're good gifts for some of the villagers too, if you want to dance with someone on year 1
Actually the you can complete the bulletin board in fall. Demetrius can send you a nautilus shell in the mail.
I guess I got unlucky when I did the red cabbage thing cause I didn't see one my first year even though I checked every day lol
Out of curiosity, how much time goes into these seasonal guides?
Hard to say since I get distracted a lot while editing. My closest guess would be around 10 hours of dedicated time. The most time hungry task was finding the right scenes to use from my LP, it'd take even longer if you have to record fresh footage.
just pointing out - i check "year completion" when starting a new file. and both years it took until winter to get that blasted seed lol
NGL I missed a ton of shit but I'll complete my community center in year 2 for sure
also one thing you didn't mention about botanist making forage items iridium including truffles from pigs
i’m in day 5 of my first winter, for me i have the vault done, boiler room, craft room. all i need is a catfish for the fish tank and 2 gold melons for the quality bundle and goats. i’m building my big barn rn ;(
im in my first year, and played on and off for months, but my biggest mistake, was forgetting all about the community center, so i dont have any bundles completed and im almost in year 2
there’s so much to do and i’m already at yr 1 winter :( i didn’t get the skull caverns 😞
The most profitable crop will vary depending on how you judge it, which is impacted by what you are limited by.
If you want iridium quality wine and are limited by space in your cellar, then starfruit wine is best.
However, if you are just going for regular wine (or just the fruit), and using the greenhouse so you don't need to worry about the initial cycle and you are limited by crop space, and are interested in gold per plant per day, then ancient fruit will beat starfruit, unless you have the artisan profession and are using hyper speed grow. And at that point it is 330 vs 343.75. And at that point there is the question of if buying all the seeds and planting them is worth the extra 13.75 gold per plant per day.
Alternatively, if you are the agriculturalist, then the comparison is mostly the same with starfruit wine just winning at 265.3 vs 235.7. But both of those values are much lower than the 330 gold/day from ancient fruit wine.
And the other advantage of ancient fruit is you can choose to use other fertilisers, such as the retaining soil to never need to water it and not lose 330g/day due to sprinklers; or if you plan on selling crops you could use deluxe fertiliser to get more from the crops.
Hey. I need help, for some reason even though I have all the stuff, I can’t place the foraging stuff in the bundle. I am in mobile. No matter what I try it’s just not possible. What do I do?
You need to actually go to the Community Center and put them there. The icon on your inventory menu is just a tracker.
@@nomo123mc oh!!! Thank you so much!!
I got a glow ring from penny and now I’m in love. Could have asked for something better.
Got the red cabbage, made it to winter...
Forgot the cat fish.
Guess it will be finished in spring
My phone is at one percent
Did you charge it after this?
For once mines at 72% lol
This year I decided to start a new stardew valley world and got red cabbage in year1 summer. What’s even worse is that I didn’t have enough money to buy it and I checked the cart quite late. What’s even worse is that i also forgot to add my parsnip to spring crops bundle.
11:40 Bravely Default!
i had the red cabbage seed
idied in the mines
i lost it
i asked for recovering but i didn't know i could only get one item back, turns out i got my rabbit feet back but not the red cabbage seed.
i cried a lot
i just started year 1 winter, and im so behind im restarting with your spring guide thanks for making these tho they are very helpful
Honestly when I played when I was younger I was on year 3 with no cc finished. Play it at your pace as there is always, always more time. :) I NEVER EVEN KNEW GINGER ISLAND EXISTED. (tbf I was like 10)
Thx a lot
You're welcome! Hope it helped!
The pokemon clip during the post cc section took me out 😂
I just now realize how wrong I was playing this game, I'm on year 3 barely just unlocked the desert 😭
I'll probably be the same if I continue my pace 😭🤣
(im in Fall Year 1 for my first playthrough and barely has any progress compared to the guide)
realizing i made a ton of grave mistakes in my play through, i didn’t unlock the greenhouse, haven’t gotten to skull caverns yet, i went the mushroom route in my cave instead of fruit bats… i’m struggling over here 💀
Nothing wrong with the mushroom route, both routes have some advantages. If you're not in a rush to finish the community center I think the mushrooms are better - great source of food as well as selling for decent amounts. As for the rest of it, there's no right or wrong way to play. Just play at your own speed and learn!
I just wanna say I liked also thought it was funny in the beginning how you said if you didn't do any then skip the green house cause I'm the one your talking about so thanks for the skip but I'll definitely come back to your video for the green house
Plus imma subscribe just cause this video and prolly see your other videos
You have a great voice and presentation. Keep it up.
I think i'm going to take it slow on my first year, then probably rewatch all of these videos 100x over before it sticks and I can waste my life away completing this game
