You can make a double piping in the toile fabric. It’s quite simple and there are CZcams videos on how to. I know you are a great sewer. It covers all the staples/tacks and you apply with glue gun.

The barkeepers lamp looks to show more detail on the lamp base but both look good ! I use barkeepers for a lot of things at home at the Yatchclub I maintain the kitchen lots of stainless to clean and polish saves me lots of time between the three large stainless sinks the dishwasher the very large vent hood over the large gas double stove and oven .Must say gratification is great when I get it done ! Thanks for sharing !😀😍

a long nose stapler would make everything so much easier for you carol whilst doing these sort of chairs, allows you to get into the curves etc foam cut to size for seat base secured by adhesive and add dacron, then your top fabric. job done……..good luck , with upholstery your always learning, important to save the top fabrics of what what you remove on these chairs if possible to use as templates

I created an upholstered headboard several years ago. It takes a lot of strength to pull on that fabric! In the end, I purchased an electric stapler.

Carol, using lightweight drapery fabric for upholstery is really difficult especially for a first project (ask me how I know). It may show every bump in the padding and wrinkles from the staples. It's also hard to get the pattern straight from the tugging that's necessary for a smooth fit. Plus in time it will stretch and pucker from people sitting in them. It can be done, but it's so hard and frustrating.
Maybe try something a little heavier? I love the toile, does it come in a heavyweight linen? Maybe a coordinating check pattern for the seat and back, and use the toile on the reverse of the chairs? Or make some lumbar pillows in the toile? None of my business, I know. But I hate to see the struggle!

Carole, your first time upholstering looks wonderful. Adrian, too bad about the chandelier glass fitting. You will get it sorted out. The lamps in the window are beautiful. The scenes of the frost followed by the thaw were beautiful. These are times nature paints its own masterpieces.❤

You could try putting wallpaper or your extra fabric on the wall panels behind the shutters. The lamp on the right looks fabulous, I’m guessing that’s the Barkeepers friend one? They both look lovely and were a great find. The bulbs didn’t really look red until I saw them at night, then they were very, very red. It’s funny how colours can look different or can’t be seen on film compared to in person. Brilliant job on the chair back Carol. The dark trim looks really good.

Upholstering a chair or doing anything new like that is really hard and scary, so well done for giving it a go Carole! Im sure you will be an expert in no time and this new skill will open up so many opportunities for you in the future!

The lamps in the windows look beautiful, could you put ultra thin mirrors in the recesses, which would then reflect the lamps even more???
If there’s not the depth for true mirrors you could try mirrored film….
Just a thought on the table in the hallway, why not go ultra modern and have a solid glass/perspex curved table???

I like the flickering lamps in the window.
Idea: The table that holds the horse lamp.....why not paint the spindle legs black with some gold paint? It would then match the banister of the stairs and be a continuance of the "theme" of the section of the hall. Btw, love the chairs and the set up now. Much better than before.

Just an idea for the side panels in the nooks....if you have any more curtain fabric left those small panels could be fabric covered, as a surprise feature when the shutters are closed. ???🤔🤔

Well done Carole on the upholstery project. I'm sure it was stressful. I've only ever done a stool. Don't know that I'd have the courage to tackle anything more. Adrian, i think the light on the right was cleaned with Bar Keepers. It looks shinier.
