Yes after playing it through they definitely meant the maze since the music changes with progress of the maze which is actually something that i never saw in a video game before.

When you announced you were getting a few old voice actors back for Control I was like "Cool... but is Poets doing more music?"
Finally I can rest easy.
Just played through the Astray Maze. Had a broad smile on my face the entire time. 10/10 GOTY.
I have to do it again, cause I died 10 feet from the ending of the maze.
@@JnEricsonx Me too! One of those suicide bombers got me while I was trying to escape. The maze had been super awesome up until that point, but because of that stupid death I was sour to myself for a long time (and I still kind of am. I can be a really sore loser). After that death, I kind of just wanted to be over with the rest of the game, and whenever I've fired up the game since, I just haven't quite been able to shake the nagging feeling of remembering that death. I guess I feel a little better getting to share my experience with someone who's gone through the same and knowing that I'm not the only one. Thanks for sharing! :)
@@E5rael BTW, it turns out that when I did the maze again, it skipped a big chunk of it, so I got through it the second time.
I play Alan wake every single year and poets of the fall because of that game has become my favorite band, I bought the ultimate edition of control for the Alan wake dlc. Playing through it when I got to the recording studio and I heard poets of the fall I started crying I was so excited and happy

The Ashtray Maze from the game "Control" is one of the greatest moments in modern gaming. This is reason enough to play the game. I picked it up on a whim and it is now one of my favorites of all time.
Well you guys weren't kidding, the Ashtray Maze was amazing. Perfect utilization of the song and the maze in conjunction. I loved Control before this, too. Outstanding job.
How many people know that Marko was a graphic designer who made Captain Baseball Bat boy comics for the first Max Payne? Further, Marko was the face for Vladimir Lem while Sam Lake played Max Payne... These two have been collaborating for a long time.

I never would've thought the singer's voice had more of a hint of an accent singing than when he talks.
Ashtray maze easily top 2 videogame sequence of all time, other one being that one in alan wake when you turn on the radio, Poets play and big action ensues.

The Ashtray Maze was such an amazing experience. The way the flow of the gameplay and the flow of the song synced perfectly, the empowering feeling of the Oldest House shifting to let you through and to block the Hiss and to give you this beautiful stage on which to use and enjoy and showcase all the powers you collected throughout the game, all set to this absolute banger of a song - it really felt like a love letter to the player. I love you too, Remedy. ❤
I found and listened to the song, in that crazy orange sound room. The game is incredible by the way.
The song and it's incrustation into gameplay are so good, it suddenly became one of the most repeated songs in my playlist, despite I have never heard of Poets of the Fall before. Brilliant!
The game was great until I put on Ahti's headphones, the way the song dynamically changed based on what was happening, the way the audio and visuals danced together perfectly, goosebumps and when Jesse said those words in the end of the maze, I understood what a masterpiece this game really is. I think it was heightened by the fact that the soundtrack otherwise was so ambient, made this moment stand out even more.

I remember watching this video when it came out and being very excited for this collaboration. I knew it`s gonna be great. But it being one of the best levels in history of video games? I am floored.

I'm here Just to say thanks to sam lake for going against the people who said to remove from the game,the part with poets of the fall in Allan's wake part,with the musical in giant screens!!! It was the best part/ the most fan and enjoyable part and also very unique, i haven't seen again something like this in any other game, i loved it!! Thanx again Sam for not letting them remove that part and thanx poets of the fall for that great song!!!!! Its just amazing and love the electric guitar in it!!!! and also the other one with saga, the summoning was great too!!! Thumbs-up!!!!! 👍👍👍
Both the game and the song were total masterpiece
This is one of the coolest discoveries I've made in a game in awhile. Totally caught me by surprise, I was like, "yo, is that... is that Poets Of The Fall?" Then the guitars kicked in and I knew. Then I exit the room and the lyrics are on a wall and there's a sheet that asks you questions about the song. So not only did they feature a song from one of my favorite bands of all time, Porcupine Tree, but they also collabed with Poets Of The Fall. Man, I love this game!!!
I wish that Marko Saaresto at the beginning had pointed his finger at Sam Lake like a gun and said the classic phrase: "Bang! You're dead Max Payne." (For those who don't know Marko Saaresto was the face of Vladmir Lem in the first Max Payne)
It's good to see Max and Vladimir working together again.

the maze song is fucking awesome
They always remind me of Type O Negative, who also had a couple of musical moments in games I remember way back... not so much lyrically but in those particular styles of riff on the rhythm guitars, and orchestration, and having a deep-voiced singer over it all.
It's the sort of thing that always seems to play very well with frantic game action. :)
