    .............................................................
This is the Peugeot 5008… And it might just be one of the most desirable 7-seaters available today!
There’s no denying it’s one good-looking MPV in disguise - especially when you consider prices start from just below £30,000! But that’s not all! The good looks don’t end on the outside, with a smart, modern infotainment system awaiting you once you step inside.
When it comes to performance… Well, you’re probably not too bothered if you’re choosing this car! However, it’s not all that bad. Under the bonnet, the range-topper comes equipped with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol to deliver 181hp. But unfortunately, it’s only FWD - as are all other models of the 5008.
So what do you think - do the good looks, coupled with the relatively affordable costs, make this the must have 7-seater in 2021? You’ll have to keep watching to find out!

Leg space really is alright. I am 178cm and when i put front seat to my ideal position and move second rows a bit forward, you can get comfortable in both rows. My only issue was 3rd headspace as my head would touch the ceiling if i sit up straight. I wonder if panaromic roof eats into 3rd row head space as well

My parents have one of these pre facelift. They picked it over the Kodiaq because the 3rd row seats are ever so slightly more usable. in therms of foot and head space. Which explanes the smaller boot capacity when all seats are deployed. The Tiguan Allspace was also considered, but it's virtually identical to the Kodiaq in therms of practicallity. Honestly neither of these 3 options feature a really comfortable experience in the 3rd row.

My family has driven the old 5008 for 3 years (we leased it). We put over a 100k miles on it in this short amount of time and never had trouble going 600 miles or more without stopping for long because the car is amazingly comfortable. It never broke down or had any issues, we only damaged the parking sensors once, which the mechanic fixed for cheap. It really is one of the most practical and comfortable cars I’ve ever had the pleasure to sit in, it’s very hard finding a better car for the price. The only thing I would critique is, that it was quite oil thirsty and we had to fill up on oil a lot more often than we had to do with our 508. Nonetheless I think Peugeot have changed the game with their cars quite a lot. The old cliche of Peugeot’s driving and feeling like a bag of nails is not true anymore, they nowadays build very good cars which are hard to compete with.

The reason why the 5008 can’t be had as a plug-in hybrid like the smaller 3008 is because the batteries in the hybrid versions of the 3008 are also where the 3rd row seats would be in the 5008 - in the boot floor, meaning there wouldn’t be enough room under the boot floor for both the batteries and the third-row seats.

It's supposed to get a PHEV model, just no plans for a Hybrid4. If Peugeot wanted to do it, they could've found a way (I'd happily sacrifice the 3rd row for the 5008 size + AWD). Seems more of a generational issue than an engineering problem, i.e. they just wanna slap on a new face and mark the price up a few thousand for 2021.

Every Peugeot review says the same thing about the dash visibility... But... You're meant to look through the wheel, not over it, certainly in the previous generation of cars. Different to other manufacturers, but unless you're 7 foot or 4 foot tall it's not likely to be a problem.

Have owned the 2018 GT 5008 2.0 Diesel since new, which basically is only externally cosmetically different from the the new one, and the gearbox. Couple of comments on things that were said and also missed in the review:
    1. I have the Panoramic Roof, and due to that, its missing the centre ceiling light. And its sooooooooo annoying that the little crappy lights above the doors to compensate for that missing light are so bad!! They simply dont light up enough and dont even have the ability to auto turn on when you open the doors. I think this must have been an oversight in the design process.
    2. The piano buttons have a tendency to have the silver veneer rub out, I've got a warranty claim on this and I've heard that its happening to a lot of people. Its only cosmetic, but looks horrendous while everything else looks so classy.
    3. Never had an issue with the elbow in the coffee cup, as described in this review.
    4. I'm 6 foot and the cluster above steering wheel design is no issue, I actually love it due to the wheel being smaller and more ergonomic.
    5. I'm so glad they changed the transmission to 8 speed. The 6 speed is god-awful, especially as it feels like CVT all the way to 3rd. It is baaaad, and I'm not surprised they changed it.
6.The secret storage under the floor mats is so damn handy. Good for using for long trip snacks and drinks. Use a freezer pack in it to cool your stuff. Its awesome!!
    7. Your 5 Annoying things - a) Agree with you on the cruise control buttons stalk, what a crappy design. b) the back cover issue is only apparent when you dont have the seats reclined slightly. A non-issue really. Even in this position as in the video, NOBODY will see your valuables due to the tint, as its too dark to see. c) You have a bony ass. That ridge has no issues. d) The back seat tray doesnt do that on my car, I think you had an issue only on your car to be honest. e) Agree with you, the glove box is too small in right hand drive. IT IS BAD.
8, The right hand drive design has one more big problem you didnt mention. Good luck changing the cabin filter, as you literally have to put your hand into a lions cage in the zoo. I ripped my arm to shreds while changing it as you have to do that from the drivers side which mans you got the steering column and pedals to navigate through. What a disaster!!! I managed it, but took me good 30 mins.
    9. When you remove the back seats, be careful not to stack items that are too heavy. I dont actually recommend removing them, and I simply have had no reason to do that.....ever. there is no point to be honest as I always prefer a flat surface when hauling stuff anyway, and you have that with the seats folded anyway.
    10. 2.0 Diesel has good power. I cant complain, even when I'm used to fast cars. More than enough even with 7 people.
    11. Suspension is AWESOME, even when fully filled with ankle biters and stuff in the back!!! Enough said.
    12. Who cares about all-wheel drive. I was so apprehensive about it before I bought it, as I'm used to VW's and Skodas, but now, I can tell you that its quite noticeable on fuel consumption being way better in the pug and almost zero wheel spin in wet.
Ok, now the really bad stuff.
    1. Holy crap the 2.0 diesel is loud. It's like driving a Tiger Tank.
    2. Some build quality issues, like the A-pillar cloth covers not snapping in correctly. Warranty job. The plastic shims around the back doors sliding off. Warranty job. etc etc.
    3. My wife loves her nails. Good luck to the door paintjob under the door handles. Not sure its the design, but it looks like a cat has been using its for a scratch post. Never happened on any other car.
    4. I'm paying such good coin for this car, why doesnt it come with pneumatic hood lifters instead of the prop bar? Did it really need a $5 job to save Pugs factory the coin on this car?
    5. OMFG THE STOP-START FUNCTION IS BAD!!!!! It's like they glued on the feature without real proper engineering integration!! Not very intuitive, jerky when starting, VERY slow to start up, makes the car spin wheels from lights. My standard operating procedure when getting in the car is to turn this off as the first thing to do, BECAUSE YOU CANT TURN THIS OFF PERMANENTLY!!!! WTF Peugeot!!???
    6. Lane keeping assist basically wants you to have a car accident! I think it was designed by a serial killer that works for Peugeot, and he/she is angry, but also strong. The steering literally will push you so hard if you get too close to the edge of the road that you will end up on the other side of the road about to have a head-on. It's like an old-school teacher in a catholic school pulling your ear to the principals office. I'm actually so scared now of it, I pay attention to keeping perfectly in the middle of the road to not get a D in driving class.
All in all, what a fabulous car as a package, granted some of the old French car stigma rears its arrogant head in a few strange areas. I am super satisfied with it and would recommend it to anyone like me who is in a 3-child purgatory that requires separation between the devil spawns. We have a permanent 2-2-1 setup, where the potential future crime lord sits in the 3rd row, away from the rest of the family.
Be prepared for the ooohhhh's and aaaahhhh's from the uninitiated people as they enter your French boudoirs of a vehicle, as the cockpit is a pleasure to sit in and the view is magnifique.

I just ordered new 5008 hope to get it in May 2021 - wish I would read your review sooner. I love interior and i bought it without a test drive - I only dove my friends 3008 petrol and it was perfect for me. I also test drove Tiguan and I just felt it was to dull ( inside ) for me. Since I love quite and relaxed car now I am affraid it will be too loud for me - as you wrote - also I hate start-stop system. Plus there is no awd, since i love to go skiing in the mountains and it would be helpful. After I read your review I am really scared I will be dissapointed by 48k euro car - I bought GT pack with all the amneties. Also since I live in Slovenia, Europe where summers are pretty hot I don't know how it will be warm under sun roof? But all in all - would you still buy your car today?

@@matt7232 Tiguan is like humour-less German that was asked to take a trip from point A to point B without any fuss, and that's it. Not for me thanks.
The loudness of the 2.0 Diesel is mainly noticeable when standing still as you start it and at the lights, but once you get going, its not too bad. I just think they could have improved on this engine already, seeing that its already so old. If you get the Petrol, its whisper quiet, but I'm in Australia and diesel fuel is a much better choice economically for me. Petrol is just so damn expensive here.
Let's not mention the Start-Stop system again, I just pushed the cat off my desk in anger just thinking about it.
AWD would have been nice, but remember that this is a Peugeot take on a MPV, not a SUV. I'm ok with just FWD, but in your case it will be an issue, mainly a safety one to be honest, especially on snow. A number of the back seat and 3-row features would not have been possible if it had AWD, due to the amount of space required for the drive shaft and the differential.
OMG!!! 48K euro??!??! Thats $74K AUD, thats insane!! I paid $49K AUD for my car brand new in 2019 with every single feature except a tow bar. Thats only 32K Euro. I'm so glad I dont live in Europe any more :)
Sun is not an issue with the Panoramic roof, and I live in Australia, which is the definition of hell on earth during summer. It reached 43 degrees in Sydney.
Absolutely I would buy it again if I had the same choice to make. For all the negatives, the positives completely outweigh them. But just look at it, makes all other Germans look like boxes on wheels.

Here i bought GT pack with all options and they also offer me to finance it via Peugeot leasing so final price will be 41k eur. I also took night vision (1.200 euros) just for fun I don't know if it will be helpful + black line pack. If I would go for normal GT without options it will be around 35k euros.
Why diesel? Here it is not that much difference but salesperson advice it and my friend who has 3008 ( old model ) said that petrol engines have a lot of issues. Petrol would be even better for me, since this is the only car we own and we do a lot of short drives to store, kindergarten, etc.
Like I said - the interior did it for me - I love that it looks like on a plane ( or Lamborghini :)) . Outside 3008 looks better but I want more space.
The other car I opt for was Tesla Y but sadly they don't sell it here yet I will have to wait till summer. If I don't like my P5008 will sell it than If I love it - Tesla will wait:)
