    .............................................................
This is the new Peugeot 3008!
Now some of you may look at the 3008 and think it looks remarkably similar to the previous version. And to be fair, it does! But of course, it’s only a mid-life facelift, so wholesale changes to the design weren’t to be expected.
However, although there are a few noticeable styling updates, there’s one key area which has seen a big overhaul - the engines on offer! Along with your usual petrol and diesel options, there are now two plug-in hybrids to choose from, with the class-leader being 1.6-litre turbo petrol which comes with two electric motors to produce 300hp!
So it looks good, and the performance sounds great! But should you be choosing the 3008 over the likes of the SEAT Ateca or VW Tiguan? Stick with Mat to find out!

Im currently living in Japan and bought this SUV 2 years ago and it is the best purchase I've ever made. People look at us when we pull out onto the road, the sound system is phenomenal and I've never felt more safe in a vehicle before in my life. I'd buy another if I had the money. So true, I drove one about two years ago. It was lovely inside but it was a true gutless wonder when going up one of my local hills. My test for any car that I’m looking to buy is does the automatic hunt up and down the gearbox while going up the hill or does it pull smoothly and with no effort. In the 1600 diesel version it was bloody annoying.
In the end I went for a second hand A4 S-Line estate with the 211hp petrol engine. Lovely car but had the piston ring problem from the 2008-2011 model years. A litre of oil every 600 miles - Audi said that was acceptable.... I’ve got a GLA45 now, no suffering with a power deficit on that one 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻

As for the engine start/stop button, it's not that you have to press it harder to shut the engine off, it's a time thing, like 1 second. If you quickly dab the button nothing happens but hold it down for a second and the engine shuts down.

My only two gripes are the smaller fuel tank (to make room for the batteries) meaning I only had 35 miles remaining in the tank following a 272 mile journey. I have to say that as well as the engine being new, I did have my Halfords top box on. The other is the apparent removal of manual drive on the hybrid. I have one of these, having driven BMW 5 Series and Audi A6's before and I really like it. Drives very well and easy, very comfortable, big boot, lots of technology, easy to park. By the way, the big storage between the front seats is fridge-like storage that you can keep food in when you shop or a bottle of wine in! I have the GT one.
