Sagat is a kind, and fair person at heart. He didn't mean to kill Goh Hibiki, he let Dan win, he respects Ryu, and he shows that he loves what he does; fighting. And the villagers in Thailand love him for everything that he is.
I find him to be much like like Andre the Giant. He looks and sound intimidating, but he's a kind and gentle soul.
I mean out of hatred he joined shadoloo and became one of the four kings of shadaloo

Fun fact:
Sagat was actually inspired by a real muay Thai fighter 'Sagat Petchyindee' who was one of the greatest Muay Thai fighter during the muay Thai golden age. Sagat now has his own gym where he trains young fighters to become champions.

Sagat's story is incredibly deep and deals with evolution of character and retribution, that's why he's one of my Favs. He is actually a hero who only seeks the best fight from his rival.

Kind of cool how he starts out as a bit of an asshole and yet he then throws fights, helps his rival and forgives him when he finds out it wasn't his fault for scarring him. He also cares for his people as well some he isn't just a random villain but a bad ass who has redeemed himself. Now I know why I like him.

I can remember a time waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay back before Street Fighter 2 existed when I was in elementary school and watched this teenager beat the first Street Fighter game. The last boss was Sagat and it was some EPIC shit!
Sagat really went from antagonist to anti-hero. He had one of the better redemption arcs in all of fighting games period and he's respected and revered by his village. Pretty dope.

That's why I've always loved Sagat, a true fighter at heart and always be of the best fighters out there.
He deserves to be depicted as one of the main heroes in a future main storyline. I missed him a lot in the SFV main story.

So Sagat 2-0'd Ryu and went about his business.
Who's to say he's not the strongest fighter (that doesn't rely on dark powers) to ever walk the Street Fighter world? Even Gen who has matched Akuma on numerous occassions (who was in the first street fighter) had to lose to Ryu for Ryu to get to the unbeaten Sagat.
And if Sagat was prepared for/expecting the dark hado the first time he beat Ryu, who's to say he wouldn't have beaten him even in that form?
I'd say Sagat and Goken are the top fighters without dark power enhancements...maybe the top two period...but i just can't claim one to be more skilled than the other.
Sagat and Gouken are very powerful, but Oro is stronger than Sagat, and probably as strong as Gouken or stronger.

Actually, Gen dropped out of the tournament and went back home because he didn't find anyone that he deemed strong enough. Also, I'm fairly sure that Bison is stronger than Sagat.
KamektheMagikoopa1 Phycho Power contains a small amount of the Satsui no Hado, so Phycho Power is a dark power enhancement.
+Peter Griffin Psycho Power and Satsui no Hado are not related. Bison doesn't practice Ansatsuken so therefore there is no Dark Hado inside of him.
Known fact, Go Habiki was able to take advantage Sagat's right eye because when Sagat was younger, he trained so hard that he damaged his eye. Also I don't think Sagat has to be in SFV because of popular demand, or at least he shouldn't be canon to the SFV storyline. He had already fought Ryu, overcame his hatred, and even left Shadow law. There isn't really much for him to do anymore.

Bimal Pudasaini I don't think M. Bison would have anything to gain from provoking Sagat, and even Adon wouldn't stoop that low.
Bison needs fighters, doesn't he ? If Bison can control Ryu, why not Sagat, an equally impressive fighter ?
Bimal Pudasaini Simple answer. M.Bison has no interest in Sagat's body. Ryu's body is still in its prime, But Sagat could go past his prime in a few years since he is older than Ryu, and Ryu was born the...60s? Yeah, Sagat is still strong, but not all fighters are like Heihachi Mishima.

Just a couple of additional facts for my fellow SF geeks about Sagat! It was indeed a 'Dragon Punch' that Ryu used to floor Sagat in the first tournament. In response, he developed his own version, the 'Tiger Uppercut' to counteract Ryu's Dragon Punch. The reason Ryu thew the first rematch they had, was because Sagat's scar from their first fight had not yet properly healed, and Ryu didn't want to harm him. So there you go! Great vid by the way!

you mostly do street fighter and tekken characters you should use SNK characters too.
Sagat is favorite of mine, it was nice to learn a bit more about his character, great video.
Sagat's one of the few Street Fighter characters who gets proper character development IMO with him starting off vengeful against Ryu for scarring him and joining Bison to get revenge on him but realising the dark path he was going down when Bison brainwashed Ryu with Psycho Power and made him fight Sagat. Freeing Ryu from that and learning that Ryu losing control to the Satsui No Hado was what scarred him allowed Sagat to let go of his rage, hatred and desire for revenge against Ryu and become more of a friendly rival to him.
Pretty much on point. If you really want a canon on then rematch of Sagat and Ryu of sorts it will be in the Ryu Final manga where Masahiko Nakihara is the biggest influence in Capcom's story, another is the SF Light Novel drawn by One Punch Man manga artist Yusuke Murata. First scene in the light novel Ryu will settle the score with Akuma, it's a light novel that branches or clears out the events of SF1 to SFV.

Sagat is the true superstar of street fighter.....Ryu & Ken imagery were engrained into the psyche of kids in that era as the favorite's but Sagat is the true warrior of this franchise. Never knew his story arch but now that i do, thanks to this channel, i make him & akuma my duo.

Yeah, you're right. Since they're both Capcom games and set in the same universe. Originally the second Street Fighter game was going to be Final Fight, but the developers did release Final Fight as its own stand-alone franchise and retooled SF II.

I seen the manga the movie and also had the comic book were sagat killed Ken. Not one time sagat lending his hand out to help ryu up and getting hit with a dragon punch.

I wanna stress out a poll against your introduction music. I find it unappealing cause of the high increase of music. I would want an pleasant calm music in the beginning and the ending is just find as it is.

+SweFrost It is indended for older audiences correct however if you have a problem with the music simply jump the first 10 seconds and the last 15 or even that mute the volume.
I will not be changing anything on my channel as its a formula that works, if you dont enjoy the product or a certain section no one is forcing you to endure it.

sagat was based on a real person Sakad. Look him up
uhhh, nah, i think his name was Sagat something, something last name. He's the one that used (or created, imm not entirely sure about that though) the "flying Cobra punch" which is mostly known as the "superman punch" through MMA, difference being that the Cobra punch doesnt have you flying of the ground, and instead hitting the opponent with a knee first, whereas the superman punch is either just a leaping punch in midair (boxing variant) or a push kick feint in to a leaping midair straight punch (Kickboxing, MMA, etc.)
