I like the digging “Supervisor “
About to tackle something very similar. Thanks for posting as it gives me a window to what I need to do. :)
So very happy it helped! Thanks for watching as well
gl brother.
Cool
Thank you!
Hello, and greetings from Helena. I just came across your channel. I have been recently thinking about adding a cistern to our well.
Hello Von! I decided to add the cistern as a way to insure we had water in for some reason we had a pump go out or during winter invade of freeze. It is less expensive or was for me to use a concrete cistern vs a plastic due to shipping costs but you may have better sources in or around Helena. You would be able to add it in to you current well set up with little down time if any
whats the price on that large of cistern?
I paid around $2800 for the tank.
Thanks for Sharing. Looking to do the same at our house in Frenchtown. How much earth you need on top of your lid to prevent freezing? Seen some people say 3 feet all the way to 6 feet in Western Montana.
I am building in Saint Ignatius and I have 3 feet of dirt above the lid. The cistern outputs are at the bottom of the tank and would take a massive freeze to get down that low
Not Cornhole
Sounds like Kila? Just moved from Patrick Creek Road Kalispell a few months ago.
We are in Saint Ignatius, about and hour south of Kalispell. You still in MT or move out of state
@@RedemptionRoad got it! I love the views fro St. Ignatius…my sister lives in Arlee but we have returned to Missouri for a longer growing season.
@@mustbsavdbyjesus i totally understand the need for a longer growing season. Hope to get a greenhouse built here in the next year so help with the short grow season. Missouri is a beautiful state.
@@RedemptionRoad yep-I had on my list to do a greenhouse up in the mountains we were at 4,000 feet, but we also had mountains in the way so not much sun…but in St Ignatius you should do well-much more sky exposure from sun up (some days at 11 there I suppose!) but then good mid-day amd afternoon sun. All the best to you! Amd I’m glad you didn’t drop the machine in the trench!
What was the total for the project? Including tank, tank delivery, tractor rental, piping, electronics, whatever else was involving involved? Thanks!
I am sorry for the late response. No excuse. The tank cost $3200 and included the delivery. I rented the mini-ex for a month as rental is cheaper long term. It was used for the excavation of the house foundation as well as the cistern. Total month rental was $2800, plus a $300 delivery cost. I have it plumbed from the well head, to the cistern, and then to the house foundation. I will install the well pump and remaining water system this Spring with a video of all that set up once I complete it. Currently designing the water supply side (pressure tank and piping). Hope this helps
@@RedemptionRoad thanks for the response! I know how busy things can get so worries on time frame.
No concerns about unlined concrete resulting in toxic substances leeching into water supply?
u probably have used tap water, welcome 2 hell.
@@WingsOfADream1 I don't use tap water. Concrete leaching into the water is extremely toxic. Will even burn the skin showering in it. There's a reason they put plaster, aggregate or tiles on concrete pools.
Interesting video. A suggestion for your following videos is to leave out sections like what is around the 3:00 and 3:30 marks here - a head with moving lips and only-music audio. No value.
Thanks for the comment. Early video editing mistakes happen as it’s not that easy to work solo, film and edit.
@@RedemptionRoad i liked the video in full. bless u
Where are your rocks??😅
We had a lot of rocks as this is an old glacier bed. Most were about the size of softballs but had a few big ones. Plan on building an outside BBQ with them in the future
HOW MUCH.... CISTERN? LABOR?
Thanks
Retired, Veteran
The cistern cost around $3100. I did all the labor with a rented tractor. Tractor rental was $800 for the week. Thank you for your service as well
@@RedemptionRoadHoly crap, I’m getting quoted $7k for a 4500 gallon precast cistern in Missouri. Granted that’s with me specifying no plasticizers, no chemicals, no fiber, no fly ash, and they added some special cistern grade seal ($600) to the quote. It’s just not repurposed septic or burial vault (though they use the same forms) and they would be pouring it specifically for me. Was yours made for cistern use or was it just a standard unit?
And I was considering two of them…we get 40 inches of rain per year, but some years can be a whole lot more or a whole lot less.
What's the capacity of your cistern? Is it lined? please and thank you
Hey William! The cistern is 4400 gal and is unlined concrete cast. It was significantly cheaper then going with a plastic tank. Hope this helps.
@@RedemptionRoad Thank you Sir, I will be doing the exact same thing very soon. Thanks for taking the time to do the video. Very much appreciated.
