I've always wanted the Duramax in the Z71 (and AT4). Then I checked out the price of diesel this week at various points across the country and I'm seeing a 20-40% bump over regular gas (for the 5.3). Those prices might erase the value element of the Duramax.

not really. I was averaging 19.1MPG on my gasser and currently 26.4MPG on the 3.0. Not to mention the torque is available immediately. The 3.0 is a much better match for a light duty pickup.

I wonder if they will offer the max tow package with a 2 speed transfer case on these things. They currently will not allow you to package both together on ‘24 Silverado’s unless you buy the high country. Ford doesn’t build any F series with a 1 speed transfer case and all you to package anything together. It’s GM cutting corners in my opinion. I get these vehicles are luxury, but I’m not paying that kind of money for a vehicle that doesn’t have 4lo when it easily could.

Do you think the government agencies who drive these monsters care about the price, reliability or fuel mileage? Probably not.
Do you think the average tax payer who is paying for the government agencies to drive around in these will ever be able to afford one? No

I see Tahoes and Suburbans all the time driven by consumers. They are very popular.

@Pickuptrucktalk When I see them they seem to be driven by women? Did you notice that too?

Fed Government won’t be buying/leasing the diesel in most cases. BIG push for EV or hybrid, then comes e85. Reliability is kind of important, regardless of whether you’re using it for personal, private company or government use, nobody wants to be stuck waiting on a tow truck.

You clearly don't drive through my child's middle school parent pickup/drop-off line. Though I will say I see more higher trim GMCs than Chevrolets. There are definitely consumers buying them, I'd venture to say these large GM products are the most popular in the line of parents shepherding their kids to school.

Will the new LZO use oil?

Probably. Not an OMO issue. I had one and it was really not that big of a deal if you weren’t towing everyday.

Can’t say since the new Yukon Denali isn’t out yet.
