I've been watching MMPR on Netflix and dang. If they weren't so stingy with censorship back then, they could have really made Rita a proper evil villain instead of "how can I mess with five teenagers today?"

I have watched Jetmen, Zyuranger, Dairanger, Magiranger, Boukenger, and Gekiranger. Zyuranger I found to easily be the weakest of the bunch thanks to the issue you brought up about how it was insisted the show would focus on child guest actors instead of the titular heroes. Mighty Morphin Power Rangers had a rocky start, but at least it had the good sense to actually focus on the heroes the show was supposed to be about.
Using your hero as a supporting character can work. Batman TAS used that to great effect where many episodes were more the villain or whatever one shot character Batman was helping. But this show's writing obviously isn't in the same league as Batman, the kids of the week were boring and interchangeable.
The only thing that cause this series to not be a complete bore most of the time was Bandora because of how damn funny she was.

23:44 You know who got that story? Lion-O, from Thundercats. His Stasis Chamber, instead of keeping his time still like the others, was damaged and he aged, albeit slowly. He's actually the same age as Willikit and Willikat, but he looks like an adult because of that.
I am totally not kidding. A lot of people said the reboot made him younger... but it actually made him OLDER. That's weird.
And now, that's my Zyuranger Headcanon. And you can't remove it from my head.
Zyuranger is a flawed favorite, it's a lot of fun. Sure there isn't the Grand drama of something like Jetman or other toku programs, but it's still a lot of fun and there is some depth to things if you are inclined to really think about stuff. The use of fantasy and mythology is rather nice, and this is reflected in many of the monsters, which I really appreciated

the misspelling of daizyujin, daizyuzin is really based on what subbing u get, i had in the season i downloaded seen it spelled both ways most likely because of downloading it from different fansubbers or it was just misspelled in some episodes

Yeah, fans of this series like to go on about how much more intelligent than Power Ranger it is, but at least on Power Rangers, Zordon just gave the Rangers all the tools they needed to win instead of letting them run off without their power coins or access to their mechs.

This would have been more accurate in 65 million years ago where it would have been possible to have Dinosaurs and Mammals to co exist in one time.

I can appreciate more challenging art/entertainment. I like Ingmar Bergman films (the one's I've seen) as much as I like Zyurangers... or Disney movies.

Still Zyuranger is more superior to mmpr by so many respects. I think the kid guests are just at the sides than them overpowering the series. There are still some good adult contents in the series but after watching zyuranger it is marketed to kids.. as do all super sentai bro .but mmpr still gives me a giant nostalgia bomb.

I agree with C.S Lewis. Modern day toei tokustatsu is only made for children. The adult healthy mind can never digest things so stupid like that. Aka modern day super sentai and kamen rider!!!

Yeah, because apparently a guy firing a machine gun at a child and then another throwing hand grenades at said child is kid-friendly...
And let's not forget the fact that the heroes literally have to kill a child at the end of the series to stop Bandora.
