About the ending:
I get your viewpoint, however, look at it like this: While worded very poorly, in essence it is somewhat right. Evil will always exist as long as good does, and vice versa. Ryou, hellbent on avenging his Master, didn't quite get what he ment to say in that specific moment. Yes, fighting is needed in order to stop evil, it was just that he knew that evil would return at one point and could never be truly defeated for good.
This continued way later in the Gokaiger movie, accidental as it may be were Ryou meets that one guy that tried to commit suicid. There he gets confronted again with that very same concept: "Why can you all still be happy even when you know that sooner or later someone else is going to try to destroy everything?".
His answer? "I can still live happily after my time as a Ranger because I know that somebody else is going to step up and continue where me and my friends left off." It's a very positive way to look at this, for both Ryous story up to this point as well as super sentais ever seasonal change in its main-cast. Just as evil is always lurking in the shadows there will always be those fighting for everything good and protecting the innocent. And those will be inspired by those that came before them which is the core-concept behind super-heroes in generall (Inspiring people).
one thing about the aura changer is that its adapted into power rangers as mikes magna defender morpher in lost galaxy.
Kou's perverted actions are pretty infamous, but he drops them shortly after he appears. Most people forget that.
Having watched a few Sentai shows, I have noticed they have a pattern. After having the status quo for the first 12-18 episodes or so, the show introduces a new character, usually a villain, who shakes up the status quo. At 30-40 mark we typically see another serious character introduced to shake things up.
Jetmen first introduced the boss of the villains the Vyram. She didn't stay around for long because one of the said villains helped the Jetmen kill her, but at the same time, said bad guy had a moment where he showed what an irredeemable monster he was. Also he got his hands on the egg for the super monster she was planning to hatch and used it himself. Later in the show, the kid of the Vyram turned himself into an adult because, he could just do that. As a kid he was the least effective of the villains, but as an adult he was easily the most dangerous.
Zyuranger, the source material for MMPR, shook things up by introducing the Green Ranger. Even after he joined the team he was still a serious character, especially with the arc revolving around his approaching death.
Dairanger first shook things up with Akomaru's introduction, thanks to how dark the plot involving him and Kou was. As you can probably also infer, the series took another step towards getting darker once Daijinryu showed up.
Abaranger, the source material for Dino Thunder, introduced the White Ranger. The villains before him were mostly a bunch of goofballs who were hard to take seriously. He had some comedic moments, but overall he was a much darker villain who spent his early appearances easily defeating the Abarangers, not to mention his plots were a lot more dangerous. Later the show shook things up with the evil god the villains were worshiping. Said evil god had been present, not very active. When he did start getting more active, he actually forced the White Ranger into helping the Abarangers.
Magiranger, the vastly superior source material for Mystic Force, did things differently and shook up the status quo by introducing a mystery girl the villains were after. She wasn't a villain, but she was entirely a serious character and the plot more serious with her introduction. Later in the show we had the counterparts to the Ten Terrors. These demon gods were still fought in a monster of the week fashion, but they were much more dangerous than previous villains with plots that focused on causing mass destruction. Not to mention the show's Cthulhu villain returned after they showed up.
Boukenger, the superior source material Operation Overdrive (granted that isn't saying much) was weird and introduced three groups of villains in the first three episodes, the last one being a serious villain. But about a quarter through the series we got the most dangerous villains the Questers, whose plots focused were focused on killing all humans and making other people suffer.
I’ll never understand why Power Rangers skipped Dairangers suits when using the white ranger suit and all the Dairanger zords. Season 3 of MMPR was desperately in need of new suits even going as far as using the ninja outfits as “power ranger” suits so idk why they didn’t just use the Dairanger suits along with the White Ranger.
i heard somewhere once that saban was afraid that changing suits would be to complicated to explain and kids wouldn't understand or something to that affect basically the usual dumbing down of kids shows because children are too dumb to understand anything complex and only wanna see simple things and action but had no problem changing some of the cast changing the zords changing the powers bringing in new villains etc so it just made that whole dumb ass argument null and void they could do all that and make it make sense but some how different suits would he too difficult it makes the argument even more stupid by the time they had to adapt oh ranger into zeo thats what they ended up doing anyway smfh
sunkid02 Would you think it was probably risky about losing interest in the Zyuranger costumes during Season 3 and when they got to Zeo that left them with no choice but to change costumes?
Using the Dairanger suits could be easily explained same way with the White Ranger suit and the Thunderzords: Zedd arrived and destroyed the power source of the Zyuranger suits so it necessitated for Zordon and Alpha to create the Dairanger suits as a replacement. Popular rumor goes though Saban didn't take kindly to Kirinranger's drunken fist style and footages of the Dairangers busting mook balls when staff fighting like what Shishiranger did in Ep1.
The Dairangers' suits are just aesthetically awesome!
This was an interesting journey. I've always loved how the Dairanger suits look and it took me a while to finally watch it. Also its interesting to see the original Kibaranger footage and rewatch the white power ranger moments where I thought Tommy looked super hyper.
The arch with Ryo's dad was supposed to be a tribute to Star Wars
Oh, they love their Star Wars. One of the Jetman villains had Vader's breathing.
1 Retrospective video down, A million more to go
I feel obligated to point out, there’s a live version of the Dairanger theme song on CZcams, with a full audience. The lead singer is a bit shy at first, but when he see’s how much the audience love the song he really gets into it and it’s AMAZING.
The opening and closing themes are also on iTunes :3
Fun Fact: Dairanger was called "Star Rangers" in the Indonesian dub, which was also the name of Himitsu Sentai Gorangers English dub.
(I'm sure its a probably a coincidence and was likely inspired from the stars on the suits but still)
Best suits and helmets EVER!!!!!
Talk that to gokaiger, kirameiger and kyuranger but yeah i agree this suit is awesome
Shout factory began live streaming the whole series non-stop on CZcams here so I've finally gotten to see the whole series and I loved it after watching all of Zyuranger and I have to say Dairanger may very well be my favorite series out of all the Sentai shows. Great video too!
Kameo and Kou's mom where also from Jetman (Yellow Owl and Commander respectively)
Definitely up there as one of the best tokusatsu shows ever made. If only it had a better ending...
ballista boi my words exactly. Great series overall, somewhat disappointing ending.
Actually I feel the ending works in a werid way . Showing that the forces of good and evil is an eternal battle that will only end when both sides are wiped out
@@BlueBlazeKing I know that this comment is 8 months ago, but I can understand that choice of ending. Cause evil can't live without good and vice versa.
Maxim Russian Battlefield Boii Yeah because with the whole Chinese theme the use of yin and yang was inevitable
So... If Shadam was a Clay Puppet, does that mean that the real Shadam may have still been alive to perpetuate the battle between the Goma and Dairangers?
I’m not sure but I think the real Shadam died in the war 6,000 years ago
You have a point. For all we know it's the real Shadam that the Dairangers' grandkids end up fighting.
And thank you Marcosatsu for this awesome review of Dairanger.
Believe it or not I've been searching on CZcams several times a year for full episodes of Dairanger before I watched this. Finally I know the last part now, thanks.
Dairanger is one of my favorite Sentai series.
Man, those mooks are the perfect kind of silly to me. Specifically because of the lips. We have very different opinions, which is one of many reasons I keep coming back to your vids.
Amazing Video!!! I like the splintered arcs but there is a part of the show where Kou disappears, for whatever reason, at the end of an episode, and then the next episode doesn't acknowledge his existence at all even though he was living with Lin at the time. Can't remember the specific episodes...
this is the real quality content. keep it coming.
“Light and darkness can’t exist without one another”
Is that why a new sentai team is summoned to fight every year after the other team already defeated the villains?
this is a personal favorite .. i prefer the TV NIHON subtitles and translations but need to buy the Shout version to support it and the fact TN takes down a series when its licenced and released in north america
Ayyy,I watched this Show when i was a kid! And it's my First of it too,It's really nostlagic for me especially that cheesy Opening lol,Thanks for covering this one! I still have the DVD of it.
i love how the zords look is so many different shots. stuff we dont get to see. Im a totally fan of the suits but they do grow on me. i can see why Saban deicide not to go with it, but smart move having the zords transform into the thunder megazords
12:30- Saban Entertainment group was in the behind the scenes Episode.
32:28- The final Dai Ren Oh Battle was used in the mid section of Season Two of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Unfortunately Tatsuya Nomi who did Daigo the Shishi Ranger didn't last fifty years. RIP 😔 August 13, 1969 - May 18, 2017
I'm actually part Chinese who used to live in Guam, speaks English and my language majority is Japanese.
Special clothing...um...Hmm..maybe they got it at the Hellraiser thrift store?
I really enjoyed this video! Great work too. Please do a History of Zyuranger if you can. :)
i loved the twist at the end of this season didn’t see it coming ...i love the dairangers !!!
was a blast from start to finish loved all the episodes was great like mmpr
Thanks for this. I wish I could find tons more videos like this explaining senti. Lol
rip tatsuya nomi (shishiranger)
im your clone I met tatsuya nomi at a comic book convention last year I took a picture with him and got his autograph. I had no idea that he died I am so lucky to have met him before he died.
@@drummerboyperry25 wouw... You're so lucky to meet him. I am still shocked until now regarding his death 😭😭 it's just so sad.. 😭
If you don't mind, may you share about how did he look and behave when you met him??
Great video macros dairanager was my third sentai and loved it I enjoy the arcs and it made me binge watch dairanager great show great toku Tenshi daaaaa
28:41 indeed, since before and after Dairanger, no other series managed to copy how insanely good this no-costume roll call was. Even after 8 years since first watching this, it still gives me shivers.
I saw a clip of the no costume roll call and it was the reason I watched dairangers. Like it felt so cool to see how they actually did those moves.
I will watch this, after I'm done Dekaranger.
Thanks for the recap love dairanger
Awesome retrospective
It's a shame the Dairangers suit were never adapted in the Second Season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers just like the White Ranger & Thunderzords back then because the other five rangers would have been stronger against Lord Zedd. And to be honest their Dinosaur theme suit never really match with and the Thunderzords Chinese mythology theme don't go well together anyway so I really don't understand what the writer of the Series were thinking when they were making the Second Season of Mighty Morphin Power Rangers.
Ryo's Dad was obviously inspired by Darth Vader.
One of the episode focus on Ryo's dad, the background music sound very similar to the Star Wars theme
Just finished dairanger and Man!!!!! I Love it :) I can't pick a favorite, all the rangers are awesome.
It IS Gorma though...
Dairanger is hands down the greatest Sentai show of all time. It's the only one that has only 6 episodes of filler, each ranger gets a nice sub arc, and the fight choreography is top notch. Not to mention the mythology and mechs.
I just finished the show and now I'm gonna cry because I don't want it to end 😭😭😭😭
Fun Fact. In power rangers Lost Galaxy, the Magna Defender used this sentai rangers transformation device. I just discovered this after looking at the henshin device. Such a cool device.
That dragon looks so cool.
PLEASE do more of these.
16:52 Hirihiko Araki must have watched Dairanger
Start the series: History of Super Sentai. You should do other series.
Marcosatsu well keep it up, lord knows you’d be taking a load off Linkara’s shoulders
Same reason why I wanted to watch Dairanger.
Love ya vids
This was one of my best of all time super sentai series.
Man, I never realised how many Dairanger things are like other things used for Wild Force.
- Gorma Emperor XV's suit inspiring Master Org
- Gorma Emperor XV's fishing in hell is like Jindrax fishing out Toxica in that one episode (Jindrax bought the fishing equipment using an ORG CREDIT CARD!!!)
- Serpentera-- I mean Daijinryuu wanting balance is like Animus stating that he "doesn't fight for the rangers, but he doesn't fight for the orgs either" in that one episode where he took the wild zords away from them (even though Animus was clearly on the side of the rangers and it was all a test to see if they were fully committed to saving the Earth)..... kinda....
- Kou's mother dying is like Cole's parents dying in Wild Force
- The Dairangers posing at the end unmorphed before battling Zaidos is like the Wild Force rangers posing unmorphed in their final battle with Master Org
- That Tombstone-looking stooge looks like Tombstone Org in Wild Force
- Gorma Emperor XV turning into clay is like Master Org turning into dust before he turns into his final form
- The dragonballs-- I mean the RaiRai balls/jewels are like the power crystals the Wild Force rangers used for their swords and to pilot their megazords
I just realized that too in a way that’s the closest to a dairanger adaptation along with the white ranger suits
RC99 Productions yet him being a human to doctor man in bioman that use to be human that the villains don’t like
The Concept of LIght and Darkness being the same reminds me of KIngdom hearts where you can't have one without the other
It's basically the point of the taoist religion - everything is balanced.
SailorSetsuna and in harmony when balanced and that neither must be greater then the other
I believe that there were four different writers for Dairangers. I’m convinced each writer was told to focus on certain story arc and not worry about what the other writers were doing.
Fun Fact: Kou's actor was Burai's child version actor so he glues DragonRanger and Kibaranger together in another way besides Tommy in MMPR.
Ko's mom was played by the same actoress who is the commander in Jetman and the tranforming human tortoise is played by the actor who played Yellow olw in Jetman
I knew Kameo looked familiar when I first saw him and thought Yellow Owl. But wow, I didn't think Kou's mother and the Jetman's commander were the same but thinking on their appearance back (without Googling them), they do look the same after all.
@@ThunderDragonRandy The power of clothes and different hairstyle+makeup.
Jin is Tranza, Dr. Kemp, and some other villains.
this was great i want history of kakuranger next go in chronoligical order
I really adored Dairanger it was my fav I loved everything about it
Lotsa insights - thanks!
dairanger just hit different compare to power ranger, you see every character have their own personal lives and it wasn't just about transforming and fighting monster all day
I do wish the Dairanger suits had been used in MMPR season 2 - though then you would've had the problem of two Green Rangers at the start.
I don't think so. If they used the Dairanger suits then they could have brought in the white ranger in alot earlier. When Zed destroyed the dino zords and zordon gave them the thunder zords he could have gave them the new suits to go with them saying the new zords needed new powers and they could have altered the suits and used the original morphers and made new power coins
There would also be the problem of White Ranger/ Tommy appearing to be shorter than everyone else in group shots.
man this was cool glad i found it .. I am planning to cosplay as the red dairanger ..
I'm sorry but everytime I hear you say Akamoru i keep thinking of the dog in Naruto thats name Akamaru
I hope that power ranger will make mini series for Dairanger.
I agree, they have the best roll call of all time. Especially when they did the unmorphed roll call. Goosebumps!!!
I have Dairanger on DVD and it is awesome.
BERUBAH! WOAH WOAH WOAH WOAH!
Ah, you finally make a retrospecrive on the Sentai of my childhood.
Raihan Hakim98 you mean tenshin da!!!! Woah woah woah woah
hmm I just realized this Kous mom lis played by Mikiko Miki who was the commander in Jetman and kou is the last fat guy in super sentai to be a ranger er... Jetman.. so now I'm convinced that Dairanger is either a sequal or an alternate dimension of Jetman
This season blew my mind. Freakin love it and is a definite fav of mine. Also it's Gorma. And the minions look like the Slender men
Amazing.
I'm 21 episodes deep into dairanger. It's so cool seeing the white ranger fixed a little bit different way.
We can all agree mike had an aura changer. More likely a toy or extra prop. Also i liked so much how Ryo rides ryuosegioh.
Brutal! That’s the best explanation to be explained about crushing someone to death🤣
43:38 hold up is that gameboy his mom was so cool before she hugged a rock
Please do more super sentai
In terms of early 6th rangers kiba ranger is my favorite next to mega silver from mega ranger
The theme song is amazing!
26:07 Look like the same mutant that came into Tyler Steele's cell in the VR Troopers episode *The Quest for Power (Part 1)*
I was curious about the original Japanese source material for Power Rangers, and watched a few episodes of different ones on the Shout Factory site. DaiRanger was the one that sucked me in to watch through the whole thing over a few weeks. It reminded me of some of the my favorite superhero comics from the ‘80s, as if Marv Wolfman and Roy Thomas could’ve written it.
This 50 Minute Vid was Worth It.
It's Chi Power !!!!
the Gouma out outfits like something right out kink bar XD
I kinda wish that the Dairanger suits where adapted for the Dark Rangers in MMPR Season 2.
Saban had planned for the suits to be used in Power Rangers Lost Galaxy for their first early draft idea for their Lost Galaxy arc from what I heard, but production issues meant those plans had to change.
Please do more
Daigo is my favorite Dairanger and favorite Green Sentai.
i actually love this before is not because i usually watch power ranger and some dub in my country it only has sub when my grandmother bought it for me i didnt watch it but when i finish rpm and overdrive i have watched it cus i dont have anything to watch when i was a kid it was a dvd copy i think but it still has all the eps i grown to liked it
16:47 oh Hi yellow owl from Jetman
more sentai retrospectives please
My favorite sentai. They have my favorite suits and fighting style.
love this show, translates as five star squadron great ranger it was great saw it on the dailymotion website in 2008 in english subtitles
Dairanger was a true blessing.
Nice
I remember watched it's Indonesian dub in 2001(only watched when I'm on vacation)
Sama... Waktu Itu Masih kecil banget... 😁 star Rangers di RCTI 👍
As a kid and not knowing about Super Sentai at all, I always thought the season 2 megazords were so random with the creatures not matching the suits and loving the White ranger design. Now that I know Dairanger was a thing I really wish that Saban used their suits so I could have gotten the toys and Halloween costumes as Dairanger designs are really cool and I don’t get why Saban wouldn’t since it would make it so much easier than filming all new footage with the white ranger being with the MMPR suits
You should do more of these
I love this series and i’m still watching older sentai series
Nathan Sanchez I don’t think Sentai was made as a children’s program because of how violent it is and the producers of Power Rangers must’ve had to have done some serious editing to make okay for kids to watch.
i swear the theme is just pointing out how cool that dragon is
"Gosei"sentai
Goseiger:someone call me?
Broo i still wonder how they do those dragon flying scenes while making them actually fly realistically without it looking fake as hell
What's the song in the intro of the video?
