How many times during this series has Willie said " Why can't i be a normal person?' That was made clear from the very first episode when he did not want to go to Hillerske, but to a regular high school. Ant throughout there were many clues that he wanted nothing to do with being crown prince or king. So for me the ending was what Willie wanted for his life.
Thanks for watching! I agree, it was the right choice for him as a character and is a full circle moment for him. He said what he meant at the end of this episode and it was true for who we have known his character to be
Seriously, there's no reason for being ashamed for tears! You would need to have a heart of stone to not tear up several times throughout this finale! It was fantastic and the perfect ending for that incredible show! 😍🥰😭

the reason for the delay was because they were having a live fan event and q&a with the cast at a theatre in stockholm where they watched the final episode. the drop time had to coincide with the evening time in stockholm.

hun don't worry we were all in tears, that episode was a rollercoaster of emotions, I was crying for 40 minutes non stop lol ... I loved the way it ended, it was perfect

August is almost 19, he's been 18 since the show started and in the YR timeline the series starts in October and ends in June, so in one of the 3 months after graduation August should be turning 19. Now he will be expected to go to "prince school" during the whole summer instead of Wille and start taking over duties for the Queen soon, so that she can take a break to deal with her grief and her burnout. As soon as they are 18 the next in line is expected to do their duty. Wille still had 1 year time, August doesn't.
the perfect ending 😭🥹. wille choosing himself and because of that he got his boyfriend. wille forgiving august was so satisfying too because it was not about august, it was not a redemption arc either. it was him wanting to let go in order to grow and heal. august got everything he always apparently wanted except for the thing he wanted most this season which was sara and that was his punishment for all the shit he did. sara putting herself first, felice having her friend (🏳🌈) back. amazing ending to a heartbreaking but beautiful story
So right on all accounts! LOVED this ending!

Not a great ending! Disappointing, sad! A manipulated abdication by Simon. With time, Wilhelm’s decision will be a thorn, that will fester, in their relationship! sadly a semi predictable gay ending! Luckily no sicknesses or death! It ended as a one sided love story! Wilhelm was willing to fight for Simon while Simon kept breaking up and cheating! Wilhelm gave up the crown for his love, Simon, again, nothing much!
ok, simon has never cheated on him. wille’s decision was for HIMSELF not simon. u can be mad that u didnt get the ending u want because ur a royalist (in this day in age???) but ur just making stuff up

i'm lukewarm about the ending. i feel like a lot of what happened in regards to wilhelm's decison to abdicate, being w/simon, and august getting the throne, was actually foreshadowed in s1. even though i was hoping wilhelm would inherit the throne and change the monarchy, i'm not surprised by his decision to leave it behind. my feelings w/simon has been a rollercoaster as i do agree that he has been the one to walk away time and time again, even though i completely understood the reason at the end of s1.
