I Crashed My DJI Mini 2 Drone into KY Lake...and Found it 5 Months Later!

- In June of 2022 I was flying my DJI Mavic Mini 2 over a cove on Kentucky Lake in Murray, Kentucky. A few people were around me, asking the typical drone questions. "How fast does it go? How much did it cost?" How high will it go?" And I was paying way too much attention to their questions and not enough attention to the drone...and I crashed it in the water. I didn't try to retrieve it, even though the water is only 2-3 feet deep, it's filled with snakes. So I waited and waited for the lake to hit winter pool when the cove turns to land hoping to find the drone. Here are the results of the search.

Very nice Kelly. Glad you got your drone back, or at least your footage. I had something similar happened a couple years ago and crashed a drone into a lake in the Adirondacks. I hired a scuba diver and came back a week later and found the drone. The footage was fine. It cost a bit of money but itâs some of the best footage Iâve ever gotten. Those memory cards hold up pretty well. Happy Thanksgiving!

Kelly, The challenge is made. Submerge that bad boy in alcohol for a day or two and clean it up. Pop in another battery and see if it at least fires up. I think it will. If the water was only 2-3 feet deep there was no extream pressure trying to force the water in. Might make for another interesting video to post. Would love to see it in the air after that.

@@KellyGreenYall I dont think Id go wasting any good drinking stuff. If you want to it shouldbe moonshione or rubbing alchol (Both are about the same taste). The motors are brushlss so cleaned up they should work.
