    I went to a major retailer and I ask about the tool they use to clean the duct. they said no special tool they keep passing the wire til it works.
    it never freekin worked.
    I saw your( this video) and disassembled the same parts(simple tools), pulled the nipple filter plug off and the water and crap came gushing out. I pushed a wire up the orifice to move "the bowel" a bit.
    I think the car was designed this way or a concept guy said "oh Look some unused parts from another design of something that did not work!"
    You saved me a lot of money that I do no have. I looked good to my wife and kids(priceless)
    thank you

    Nissan *HAD* to have put these pointless filters in for a reason, and that is to squeeze more money out of us. It's diabolical.

      It has me so upset as I am temporarily disabled and my dealership wants to charge me $742 to fix just the leak. That's not the carpet and headliner which are damaged too. My quote from them is over $6,000. Absolutely disgusting. We need to start a class action lawsuit for putting a filter inside and at the bottom of a drain...covering more than 50% of the drain.

    To the absolute T this is what happened to our 2014 rogue and I can't thank you enough for this video. I'm the last person to claim to know anything about cars or fixing cars and I did this in about 1 hour after watching the video twice. To anyone about to perform this task watch a video on how to remove rogue wiper arms first. It is a little tricky if you're unfamiliar and no tools are required. Don't try to brute force them off there is some finesse to it, but they should come right off very easily if you're doing it right. The videographer sort of glosses over how to do that part. Same with the clips on the shroud. Get a flathead screwdriver gently up under the part of the clip that is on top of the shroud and while it's under there use your other hand to pull the clips off. They also come right off easily if you're doing it right. Make sure to pour water up top in the sunroof reservoir like in the video to see if it pools and does not drain on the side you're working on BEFORE messing with the drain. You want to know that you've actually cleared a blocked drain when you bend the filter for the first time. Use needle nose pliers and bend the filter piece out of the way....water and probably some brown/grey gunk will come gushing out. Same steps can be performed on the drain on the drivers side too. Our driver side drain was not blocked but the passenger side sure was. You will probably know what side your issues is on based on which side of the headliner is wet when you notice you have the problem. Again many thanks to you ItsCalledSirnica!!!

    This issue has haunted me for too long. Everyone else saying to just stick a wire down the drain tube haven't a clue (I did that quite a few times already)! Watched your video for a few minutes this morning then ripped out the stopper with some needle nose before work. Took about 15 minutes total. Thank you kindly!

    Thank you so very much, I found about 10l of watter under the drivers seat and had no idea where it came from as there was nothing on the head liner. After looking at your video, I opened the sun roof and there it was, standing watter. Pored some watter like you did and voila, I sow the watter dripping under the plastic that covers the A pillar. Did what you showed and saved the 900€ that the dealer was asking for. Most productive 20 min of my life. Thanks again

    I cleaned my filter out yesterday in about 5 minutes. TIP: I didn’t remove the front shroud because there is a small rubber flap on the side of the shroud that gives access to the filter. I simply pulled that back a bit and then took a hose to spray the filter. The clog was removed and water started to drain.

      Great video ... thank you!!! I've just had to do this to my X-Trail ... both front drains were blocked. Removing the plastic shroud was not difficult and easy to refit, plus it gives better access to both drain covers. I'd certainly recommend carefully removing the middle piece of plastic with some needle nose pliers, that way it won't get clogged up again. I then got some one to blog the end of the each pipe with their finger whilst I poured it warm water mixed with a citrus degreaser to thoroughly clean both tubes - the water flies out now! Stupid design by Nissan to restrict the exit holes, asking for trouble but quite common with roofs like this. Removing the shroud also allowed be to get rid of the muck below the wiper blade exits. Now I want to double check the rear drains ... anyone know exactly where they exit?

Now it has started dripping on us and of course working it’s way down to the dash. Wife wanted to trade cars. Looks like I have a project for tomorrow. Thanks! That is an absurd design…I guess they were worried about spiders or something.

    Dude, thank you for making this video.
    My wife and I just bought a ‘17 Rogue and after last nights rain we noticed wet spots on both pillars. I looked up about it and found your video.
    Her passenger side had what seemed like a nest in the well where it drains out below the windshield cover. Pulled the nub on that one and a decent amount came out. Residual that couldn’t make it all the way out from last night. Tested that side and everything is perfect.
    Driver side looked clean which made me suspicious. Pull the nub in the center and nothing really came out. Tested it and it was slower than the passenger side. I got some line from a string trimmer and tried going up through to dislodge any debris. Tested it again and it moved a little better.
    I wish I was able to find out where the tube starts up at the actual sunroof for that side. I tried and I wasn’t sure if I was going down the front tube or it was curling back toward the rear. Did it a few times from the top and tested once more and it seems satisfactory.
    Will just have to wait and see I guess. If it keeps happening then I suppose it’s on to getting the back ones drained as well.
    Anyone see a good video for those? Please refer me to it. lol
    Thanks again man! Great work!

    I feel that it is NOT a poor design, if you know what the engineers where trying to do. They were trying to allow water and silt to drain while blocking small bugs, spiders, and ANYTHING small enough to fit up the hose, that would make for a safe home for them supplied with water.

  • @yamahaBassman
    @yamahaBassman Před 2 měsíci

    After the drains are unclogged, take the seats out, pull up the carpet and dry it (takes about 2 days). The carpet has foam cushions that soak up a lot of water and the only way to fully dry it is to remove them, squeeze the water out and air dry.

    The new rouges have the Infiniti old style door handles with the keyless entry button on the outside. This was nice because you could use gloves to unlock the door still. Now they have touch sensitive sensors on the inside of the door so a button no longer needs to be pressed, but it doesn’t work with gloves

  • @got2bharmony
    @got2bharmony Před 9 měsíci

    Thank you for your excellent video. I had exactly the same problem. This is a very bad design by Nissan. The blocked drain resulted in around 5 litres, yes honestly no exaggeration, of water in the passenger side footwell. It also caused the electronic parking brake switch to fail. The drains that are under the windscreen scuttle have plastic filters that are guaranteed to block with fine debris/dirt that will get into the sun roof and wash down. I cut the filters out of the plastic drain plug and I reckon there will be no more trouble with water getting into the passenger compartment. Our UK Nissan XTrail (I think it is sold under a different name in the US as in this video) is an excellent vehicle except this stupid piece of engineering and the turbo which is prone to fail and is diabolically difficult to remove due to its location at the rear of the engine, close to the bulkhead. I have yet to establish why the turbo has failed twice in 2 years, but expect it to be oil starvation due to a blocked oil feed pipe. This is an expensive problem to rectify, so I really need to be sure that it doesn't fail again.

      No. One either side and one in the boot/trunk on the drivers side

    At least fix the title man. I don’t think the Nissan is wearing rouge today!😊

    I struggled to remove my wiper arms for so long. If you can't remove your wiper arms, you have to press down on them with one hand, and pull it out at the base with the other hand. czcams.com/video/OEzgWH3O2iM/video.htmlsi=ZzJWh1w_SK0BxXjL

    This makes absolutely zero sense. There doesn’t need to be a filter in the first place, and then they put it inside the engine compartment. Wtf are they thinking? I thought my sunroof seal was damaged too but it looks fine.
    Instead of the water going into the engine bay, it was going into my car instead. Genius

      And if there was going to be a filter, like you said, it should be at the top and easy to access to clean out periodically

    Not quite as good as another video that I've just watched, he took the whole plug out using pliers!!!! Could have done with more commentary. But thanks anyway.
