omg I've only listened to BWV276 and I already have goosebumps! The chromatic twisting delaying the resolution in that final "kyrie" is so incredibly done!

i was thinking that, alto and tenor are quite common, but that soprano clef is rare

@@johnholmes912 Not in the original Bach scores. Soprano clef galore! This brings back memories of solfège and score reading classes back when I went to conservatory.

Thank for sharing this , I don't know where I can find album of only choral like this ! Very meditative and revealing of how Bach was touched by the mystery of Christ ...

At 22:15 in Chorale 43 it sounds like the basses/basso continuo play/sing F# instead of the written F natural in your score. I wonder why.... are there multiple sources/versions?

I'm overcome with the richness and vast complexity of this music. Just love the modes and counterpoint/harmonies. Yet, it is easy to focus on this wonderful music and miss the true painting itself. The text and the sacred scriptures that is unveiled as you walk yourself through this music. The music, which is usually the focus, becomes a backdrop that supports the unraveling story and the mystery of Christ and his passion to bring us back to the Father of Lights. czcams.com/video/EmrFlewpxFM/video.html is a section I am currently camped out in. BWV 283, the music most beautifully supports this sacred text in a way that paints a picture I have never seen the scriptures before in any movie. It brings tears to my eyes and causes me to repent in a way that is just not possible in any other way, touching the depth of my soul. I will confess that I missed this in all my years in music school, only focused on the technical aspects of the creation and missing the beauty of the scriptures by the Creator.

I don't understand why they sing sometimes one tone above the sheet music like in Christ lag in todesbanden, it's a bit annoying when you are trying to sing along.
