    I liked this video - straightforward, simple packing for an adult trip, rather than a lot of just-in-case items and backpacker anxiety. Not many „real“ minimalist packing videos out there, this is one of them.
    Well done!!

    I endorse what you said about spending a lot of money on items to save space. I don't under stand the theory of spending $400 on luggage, another $500 on merino wool under shirts, to save $65 and not check a bag.

      Spend money on good luggage. Cheap luggage is exactly that. I have lots of $$ in luggage. Different bags for different trips. Remember...it's going to be next to you. Multi million mile flyer.

      It’s an investment, it’s not like you’re only gonna use it one time. If you travel a lot then it pays it self off in no time

    I just love the simplicity of this "54321 Method" ... This system really makes sense. Mix and matching Tops and Bottoms would allow 12-24 unique combinations...not including the clothes that we are wearing on our person. I also appreciated your comment about not looking sloppy. There really is no reason to not look put together.

    Your idea of bringing old socks and underwear and disposing of them before traveling home blew my mind! That's a fantastic idea! It frees up space for souvenirs or new socks and underwear, LOL! Why didn't you use the backpack's compression straps? They really help maintain the shape of the backpack and keep the contents snugly tight

    • @JillyBeans808
      @JillyBeans808  Před 5 měsíci

      Thank you, yes we do use those straps sometimes, but for the sake of the length of the video we didn't get the straps hooked up.

    Try laundry detergent sheets instead of pods for one less liquid. Plus they take up basically no space. Going liquid free is my next personal item travel holy grail. I will need to get less picky about my face products.

      @@JillyBeans808they are great. I know I like washing items every other day, so I cut the sheets into quarters. Pop them in a snack size zip lock (I like the square format but the rectangle works), and it’s laundry sorted.
      I get unscented and drop some essential oil on them, occasionally.

      @mechanicalmaniacal,
      I’m also working on as few liquids as possible. I carry solid shampoo & conditioner (ethique was on sale and I’m pretty impressed with in home testing), soap (I pick one that works for face and body), sometimes deo (they tend to crumble, so paste is my preference, sadly a TSA liquid), sunscreen stick, lip balm. My liquids are an oil for face and hair, a moisturizer that works am/pm, mouthwash concentrate in a dropper bottle, and a scented oil as cologne. I bounce between tooth paste, powder and tablets as I’m struggling to find a great tooth tablet.

    It's all good unless you're 6'5" and wear size 13 shoes. I do have a couple of tips. Silk underwear. I vacuum pack them. Awesome. Public Rec or 32 degree pants. Saves about 3-4 lbs per pair vs jeans.

      Polyester underwear are lightweight & dry overnight if you wash them before going to bed. Lots of brands produce them, especially athletic brands.
