My great great grandfather John Gill /McGill possibly came from Longford before emigrating to US in 1840ish. This is lovely information

Informative and well presented. Thank you. From the research I’ve done on the surname Mimnagh, which is almost exclusively from Lietrim-Longford, it means “ Munster man “ ie someone from the province of Munster, south west Ireland. Mimnagh or Mimnugh, is a sobriquet ( a descriptive word for a place or name that becomes more common than the original name) the original name being Kennedy or Cennetig.

My mother's people were Bradys from Longford. The farthest I could get back was a 5x ggf b. 1724 and 4x ggf b. 1750 (he's the one who emigrated to Maryland in the US sometime before 1774. I wish I knew more. I'm trying to understand if they might possibly have been Ulster Irish as the internet indicates the name (O'Brádaigh or Mac Brádaigh) originated in Co. Cavan. Thank you for this video.

My grandmother was a Brady. My Brady gg grandparents are buried in Granardkill cemetery along with my other relatives. My father moved to England. I visited Longford and Granard last month. Some of my father's ashes were brought back to Granard to be interred with his mother.
