Bonsoir Phil !

I love it Phil I had the same problems with my red cedar vase, so I used my drill with 60 grit paper on a 3 inch disk and in ten minutes , problem solved worked great. Now you have given me another idea for some of my red cedar...

PHIL FROM THE DARK SIDE OF THE MOULIN FRANCE.
Thank you! Cheers! 😊
Hi Phil, I hope you are keeping safe and well. I look 👀 forward to your next project. Phil from the moulin France
They wood Turner is a designer. You do put designs in your bowls. You decide when to, and when not to leave the bark, leave a crack leave a hole and whatever natural artwork she stay or not. I have no doubt that this piece you’re holding will turn into a beautiful vase. You did good. The red framed by the lighter color I think it’s pretty.
Thank you, Lynda! 😊
I had no idea what an "emerging vase" might be. So, I had no 8dea what you were going to do. Now 5hat you're done, I certainly understand what you were aiming for. That's a spectacular piece of work. Thanks.
Cool, thanks, John! 😊
Good evening, Phil.
I did like it. Thumbs up. The piece looks very smooth and is a great design.
Cool, thanks, Ray! 😊
Great Job I watch your videos every day. Larry

Phil nice emerging vase. For a moment I imagined a boot.
Yeah, a little like a boot, Kevin, I could see that, too! 😊
Yes Phil, it is very beautiful.
😊
my favorite piece, very elegant !!!
Wow, thanks, Timothy! 😊
This is so Is unique one of the Gorgeous I'm so in love with this
Cool, thanks, Sherry! 😃
That is one of my favorites Phil. I think you can classify yourself as a spindle turner as well.
Nope! Ain't happening, Laura. I'm a bowel turner who dabbles now and then, reluctantly. 😊
🙋♂️🏴 Hi Phil when you said you would be creating an emerging vase I didn't know what you meant then half way through I understood what you meant and what a great idea given the irregular shape of the wood. As you where working away I thought you were going to create what would have been a foot for the vase emerging from the base but at the end you explained why you didn't but left it to the viewers imagination. I must say what a beautiful piece of art you turned on the lathe, fantastic grain, colours, and finish I can totally see why your daughter has claimed it. Oh by the way I hope you enjoyed your spaghetti. LOL.
Thank you, John! 😊 The spaghetti was and is great, I'm still eating it!
I’ve been thinking I need to explore off-center turning. Thanks for the inspiration!
😊
Unbelievable! Fantastic work Phil!
Glad you like it! 😊
Looks like a wonderful trophy
😃
It’s beautiful and I bet the shop smelled good.
It did! Thanks, Doug! 😃

Thank you, Doug! 😊
Great merging vase Phil
Thanks
David and Maria
Glad you like it, thank you! 😊
That's so pretty! I wasn't sure about it most of the way through but I really like how it turned out. And, the colours are beautiful.
Thank you, Karen! 😊
Wow Phil! This is really cool I have never seen anything like this before! I just love the red color. what a great effect for it to be popping out of the log almost like how a seedling emerges .
Cool, thanks, Mike! 😊
Beautiful, really beautiful.
😊
Once again Phil you have amazed me with how you can make something beautiful out of something ordinary. Beautiful piece!
Cosmo from Billerica, Ma.
Thank you kindly, Cosmo! 😊
Gotta tell you Phil early on I didn't give this piece much of a chance to look like anything. Sorry I doubted you buddy.. it is fantastic. And with one of my most favorite woods. I turned out spectacularly beautiful.
Thank you for all your efforts to entertain and inspire.
Keep on keeping on my friend.
Thank you very much, Bob, I'm glad you like it! 😊
Phil,
The master craftsman might approach a project with trepidation and a certain amount of uncertainty. But he knows his tools, begins his job and emerges with the product he envisioned. Everybody else creates scrap for the fire. Since your piece is not destined for the fire, it shows the skill of a master.
Keep the aspidistra flying!
God bless,
Paul
I'll take it, thanks, Paul! 😊
I get your point about having bark all the way around, but in this instance I don't agree. I think having the heartwood, then the sapwood then the "underbark" and finally the bark itself adds so much interest to the finished article.
As for what's in the block, waiting to get out, obviously it's a much smaller vase, coming out at a 45° angle from the base of the big vase! It's as clear as day!
Once more, a beautiful piece of work! You just keep getting better and better at this!
Well done, Phil.
As you say, another one "in the books" - these "books" must be more like Accountants' Ledgers by now, the number of magnificent pieces you've documented over the years!!
I don't disagree with you about the bark, Phil, and you've described perfection, perfectly! Someone else mentioned a second vase coming from that branch. Dang, I just didn't give that any thought! Thanks for your fun comment! 😊
This is my first time seeing you. I think that was absolutely fantastic. I love it.
Welcome, Terry! I'm glad you like this piece, thank you! 😊
I'm always looking for ways to make my turning better and this was very helpful 👍 thank you 😊
You’re welcome 😊
Thanks for this Phil. I have a few old cedar fence posts that I have been wanting to try something with. Now I have a great example.
Yes! Just leave some un-turned post at the bottom, it will be beautiful! 😊
Once again……. You da Man!
😊
I didn't think I would like it at first because I thought the base was too big, but now that I see it finished, I must say, it came out really well and I like it very much... great job sir..
I'm glad you like it, Juan, thank you! 😊

Really nice looking piece Phil and the colour in the wood really adds to it.
Yup, great color in this Red Cedar, Jiggsy! 😊
That red cedar is a beautiful piece of wood. I couldn’t imagine where you were headed with it. Love your finished product. I always loved to share my favorite wood turning videos with dad, and this would have been one of them. He enjoyed them as much as me. Lost him in October. But this one would have been “dad approved!” Lovely work sir.
Thanks so much, Leona! 😊 So sorry about your dad. We need our dads!
